Acknowledgements
Consciously awake and walking in my spiritual power, I proudly embrace my heritage as the daughter of the Divine Creator.
In honor of the Divine Creator, God, who has so lovingly and faithfully created us to be examples of love, light, and life for others to witness, I humbly accept my covenant and calling.
I am so appreciative and thankful to Larry, my loving husband of forty-one years, my children—Eric and Danielle, grandchildren—Arica, Courtland, David, and Jayden, and my brother, sisters, relatives and friends for their unfailing support in all that I have done and will do. Without their encouragement, the path I have chosen to follow would have been more challenging and desolate. To God, I give the glory for their part in my life.
Preface
I consciously embarked on this journey after a life-changing car accident involving my husband, my two children and myself in which the car was totaled. I was sped off to the hospital alone with my injuries. As I lay in the emergency room waiting to hear the doctor’s report on the damage to my face, I wondered and prayed to understand what was happening to me. When the doctor entered, she said, That’s not bad. It’s an abrasion.
Seeing the question in my eyes she continued, You know…—like a brush burn that you would get when you fall on your knee.
With a sigh of relief, joy, and tears, I said to God, Okay, what am I here to do?
As I began to search for the deeper meaning of my life, I began to uncover who I truly was at my core. As I learned and grew in my sense of self through spiritual awareness, my journey took me through some experiences that included a part of my heritage, and culture. One significant experience led me to connect with Mechi, a teacher and mentor who was an American Indian Elder and Medicine Woman with the Esau Tribe from the state of West Virginia. The experience culminated in the gift of healing that was within me being exposed, and my receiving a spirit name.
I initially went to interview the Elder who was to be the keynote speaker for the weekend at a commencement ceremony. I was invited by of one of my writers, Tina Michelle. I was publishing at the time an inspirational and wholistic magazine titled Pattern Pieces®. The article was going to be featured in the upcoming issue. The interview never took place. It was, apparently, not the purpose of that trip. (The Divine has a way of positioning you for a higher purpose.) In preparation for the event with American Indian ceremonies intertwined, those of us attending were to be aware of the animals, and birds that crossed our path prior to the day of the event.
These animals and birds are known as totems in the American Indian culture for spiritual rituals. My totem
became the Eagle. Weeks prior to the commencement ceremony, I walked a prayer labyrinth during an outing with a spiritual study group that I was a member of. Once I reached the center of the labyrinth, I heard the Holy Spirit say, Now soar, Eagle.
After that awe-inspiring encounter, I began to see pictures of the eagle more than I ever had before.
Toward the end of the weekend, we gathered for a sacred ceremony for women. As we sat in the sacred circle for the Moon Lodge Ceremony,
each of us was given our spirit name, through the Elder, from the Creator. I was given the spirit name of Cloud Eagle.
Why do I use it? I use it because it was a gift from the Creator. Additionally, God has directed me to use it giving honor to the power it holds for me. It plays a large part in the purpose God has assigned me to.
My search for truth and my connection with God has been full of mixed emotions and experiences. I have been thoroughly wooed, coaxed, loved, encouraged, and adventurously stretched into who I am today. The Divine and I have such a wonderful Father-Daughter love affair going on that it is beyond description.
What I have learned during the course of these last twenty-seven years has been totally awesome. I would not change anything that has happened because to change something would mean that the outcome may have been different. I love the path that has brought me to this point.
I love who I am, my relationship with the Creator, and my relationship with all the people who have touched my life during this season of remembering and becoming who I am as a divine being. My path has taken me through great phases of learning, each phase intertwining and connecting with the other. My understanding of how every living thing plays a grand part in the pattern of God’s great design has increased exponentially. The understanding of my unlimited potential–and that of every living being–has exploded through me. I chose the direction I wanted my life to take because of my new understanding.
I realized the importance of living in balance with the Creator God. I learned that holistic living meant being conscious of my body, mind (soul), emotions and spirit, and I found out what it took to keep me on the path of becoming wholly restored—totally healed as a spiritual human-being. I learned to be patient with myself as I incorporated each aspect into a whole way of life.
As I learned, I put what I learned to the test. I chose to actively participate in life by being more conscious of the foods I put into my body. I chose to exercise at least three times a week. I understood that my body needed strength and stamina to accomplish what I was put on this earth to do. I chose to be consciously aware of my thoughts and where I directed my attention. I was careful with my words and the use of I am
before any statement. I incorporated prayer (divine intention) and meditation into my daily activities; and I envisioned how I wanted things to appear.
The more I used these ancient
ideas in my life, the more apparent the proof of these Divine Truths working to my benefit became amazingly evident. These ideas became my tools to live more effectively. They were being developed each moment to fine-tune how I used my thoughts, words, and actions. As my trust and faith grew and I worked these tools in my life, the deeper my relationship with the Creator grew.
With the completion of each phase, this understanding uncovered more of the divine being that I was (and am today) and led me closer to my purpose in life.
Now that I look back, I know everything was included in the wonderful and divine plan of God. With tremendous trust, faith, boldness, and confidence I have totally accepted everything that I am. I am now living my purpose-filled life, inspiring others to live authentically and with effectiveness.
The practice of conscious living, which I share in these pages, has become a part of who I am. These pages contain some of what I learned in making my life better during my search for truth and reconnection with my true essence. These tools are the fundamentals to effective living. I habitually use them every day of my life. I don’t know how to live any other way. It is how the Divine desires us to live, understanding that when we do, we will have heaven right here on the earth. (We do not have to die first to experience heaven.)
But I know—no, I guarantee—what I share in these pages will help you, if you exercise trust and faith; stick to the principles, and practice them with consistency and persistency. You, too, will uncover your purpose in this life, one that is filled
