This book is intended to provide general information for those caring for children with sensory related challenges. Caring for children with sensory issues can be extremely overwhelming. This book shares knowledge, my experiences and observations along with parent collaboration. This book is intended to provide helpful hints for parents of children with sensory issues. As we all are aware, each child is different and unique in their own way.
Introduction
In today’s society, many children are diagnosed with sensory processing disorder (SPD). Many times these children often are not being treated. Many are unaware of what SPD is. How do they know if their child has it and what do they do about it? In my professional experiences, many parents have associated sensory issues with behaviors or being disobedient. Due to the unawareness of SPD, many parents have denied that this really exists.
If untreated, children with SPD may experience problems in multiple areas of development. This can include but not limited to adaptive skills (eating, dressing, bathing,) gross motor (walking, running, jumping), attention span,
