About this ebook
Sondra never imagined that her search for love would lead to two men—and they never imagined that their love would be tested by the threat of war between their kingdoms.
On the fertile planet of Udiss, a great dragon shifter species lived in peaceful harmony. Among this tribe of shifters was the beautiful Ruby Princess, Sondra, who yearned for knowledge and, above all, love. While seeking answers in the Emerald Kingdom, she ran into Aizan—a handsome and intelligent prince who asks to join her. When she invites him to sit with her, Malik—another rather handsome prince—joins them. The pair are best friends and have been for ages, describing their adventures to the captivated princess who decides she doesn't want to choose between the two. She never imagined her search for love would end in the arms of two men, and she would soon find their union was written in the stars. Although the triad is deeply in love, the three kingdoms are at odds for the first time in centuries. The threat of war looms over the triad—and only a union of three can prevent a war between the kings.

Chapter 1
Sighing fondly, Sondra held up a weathered photograph between two delicate fingers. She propped her chin in her free hand and stared at the old glossy sheet, admiring her parents sitting together on their wedding day. Her mother was positioned on the left with her father on the right. An array of white roses and dragon flowers sat between them, the red glaring out against the white as the two smiled lovingly at each other.
Not a day had passed that they weren't as happy as they were then, the withering photograph crinkled between her fingers as she set it back down in the mahogany box. A few small trinkets were inside: the flower petals from her mother's bouquet, a collection of glass trinkets given as gifts, and a small ruby the size of a teardrop that looked as fresh as it had the day it was gifted. She raised it up between her fingers and smiled as it winked at her in the early morning light.
Maybe one day I'll have what you have,
she whispered to the ruby.
As she set the ruby back in the box, it glimmered and she eyed it briefly before shutting the lid. She had heard rumors of rubies having supernatural qualities, ones that would give the wearer enhanced gifts that weren't entirely natural. Her species, the dragon shifters, was already rather advanced, having found ways to extend their lives centuries prior.
She yawned loudly, her teeth elongating as she stretched, and shortening as her mouth closed again. A hiccup surfaced. She covered her mouth and exhaled smoke, giggling as she carefully pushed the small box under her four-post bed.
Even as an experienced dragon shifter, she still managed to lose control of her powers. She was young, only twenty-seven, a ripe age for marriage or getting into scientific studies like her siblings had before her. They were all married and living in various parts of the Ruby Kingdom, ruling the small provinces that decorated the great land.
As she rose from the wood floor, she walked over to her closet and picked out a simple dress made of silk, something that would be easy to shed should she decide to shift at any point during the day. The silk was reinforced with flame resistant fibers, a necessary addition to any fire dragon shifter's attire lest they set themselves aflame by accident. She dropped her nightgown and pulled the silk over her shoulders, jumping as a knock came from the door.
Yes?
she called while fixing the dress.
Are you covered?
called a deep, booming voice.
Yes, father,
she replied.
When the door creaked open, she smiled warmly. The tall man in the doorway wore fine red silk, his black cape billowing about him as his boots echoed through the large room.
The transporter is here to take you to the Emerald Kingdom,
he announced.
You could have sent a servant,
she said while walking to the vanity.
She picked up a silver comb and started brushing out her lengthy black hair, tucking a portion behind her ear while combing out the knots at the bottom.
And miss my daughter for the day? Not a chance,
he replied with a hearty chuckle. Your mother wants you home by dinner.
I'll be home eventually,
she said.
I told her much the same, but she insisted I deliver the news myself,
he said.
She's always worried about me traveling,
Sondra said. Like I'll get hurt or something in the most peaceful kingdom to have ever existed on this planet.
Accidents can still happen, my little whelp. It's just a fact of life,
he said pointedly. You're always going to be susceptible to something.
Is life really that delicate?
she asked, setting the brush down on the vanity with some hesitation.
It's as much delicate as it is marvelous. You've seen what wondrous things we can do,
he replied.
And what wonders we can create,
she added.
She braided her long hair while watching her reflection in the mirror, using a red ribbon to tie the end. It hung down from one shoulder and swayed as she turned to face her father.
Indeed, my child,
he said with a grin. Shall I walk you to the transporters?
Sondra looked at her father with a raised eyebrow, tucking her small fingers into the pockets of her silk dress.
I think I can find it myself,
she replied jokingly.
Her father emitted a throaty laugh, his stomach heaving as his body shook with amusement.
Just like your mother,
he commented. Always so feisty. That's why you're a fire shifter.
Do you think my own whelps will be fire shifters?
she asked while approaching the door.
He wrapped a loving arm around her
