The Downfall of Hope
()
About this ebook
The poems and stories contained within this book focus on the opposing emotions, experienced by humans throughout life.
Love and anger are consistent themes that build up throughout the book. This culminates in a number of lessons that the author hopes the readers, can take away with them.
The journey taken by reading these poems is intended to be cathartic and leave the reader with answers, based on the author's own experiences. While also opening up perhaps more questions pertaining to love and life in general.
The author switches between his ability to beautifully and delicately express feelings of the heart, to madness, anger and despair; reflected by short hard-hitting cursing sentences which shock as well as intrigue the reader.
Thus, Halvard Green has managed to delve into and portray the human psyche via poetry in a way that has never been done before.

Jagged
There’s a jagged path that stretches far,
Memories formed through each turn like a scar,
You’ll meet many along it that much is sure,
Some will dish you pain while others are a cure,
To all the troubles and strife you meet,
Those certain companions – the pain they treat,
Cherish the ones you loved and lost,
For they in their own way lessened the cost,
Of stumbling that path completely alone,
Instead they raised you up and helped you home.
Moments
I waited and waited until we were reunited,
Restless nights spent pondering how the moment would taste,
Deep-seated now, taking root in my memories – a thirst for happiness, sated.
It took forever and ever to come but was gone like lightning in haste.
Your kindness is like a seed that once shared is fertilised and gestates,
Crawling like a vine up any obstacle that tries to define our red line,
Before blossoming into perfect harmony that I embrace as it vibrates,
Beauty is the outcome of your brilliance that transforms angst into something divine.
Oh how sweet those perfect moments are.
Why do already now they seem so far.
Constantly etching into images how differently I could have spent,
Those precious moments we had that became loose and have went.
