Part I
Narratives from the Seerah
Informational for Non-Muslim Readers
Islam is a revealed religion from God with the following 5 main Principles:
To belief that there is none worthy of worship but One God (Allah)
To establish 5 times daily Prayers called Salaah
To fast in the Holy Month of Ramadhan
To pay the Yearly compulsory Charity called Zakaah
To perform the Pilgrimage to Makkah called Hajj
The Prophet Muhammad was given revelation from God, which incorporated the teachings of all the previous Prophets of God. This book is called the Holy Qur’an, the Book of Guidance.
Muslims must believe in the following in order to complete one’s faith in God:
To belief in God and Associate none with Him
To belief in the existence of Angels
To belief in the revelation of previous Scriptures such as the Bible and Torah
To belief in the Prophethood of those Prophets before Prophet Muhammad. They include Adam, Noah, Abraham, Jesus and many more
To belief in Life after Death and in the Hereafter
To belief that God has power over all things and that everything comes from Him alone.
Islam is a religion of Peace and rectitude of mankind. It promotes the equality of mankind regardless of color, creed, and ethnicity, place of origin or male or female. Muslims belief, that the best in the sight of God among mankind is the one that fears Him most in piety.
Islam mandates the protection of people’s rights. It protects the rights of women, Muslims and non-Muslims and its spiritual, political, social, economic and moral systems of life are directed by the commandments of God’s Qur’anic injunctions and the virtuous example of Prophet Muhammad. All things being equal, Islam organizes and directs mankind to worship none but One God (Allah) and associate none with Him.
Preface
I begin with the Name of Allah the Beneficent the Merciful. All Praise are for Him alone and none is worthy of worship but Him and Prophet Muhammad is the Final Messenger of God.
Herein, I have attempted a very simple but important task with Allah’s help. It is a task I feel will fill many voids in the studying of Islam. In my personal research and studies of the Seerah I found many narratives that are very sacred with obvious virtues if carefully analyzed. I thought that it might be best to list them in chronological order for the benefits of those who seek to study Islamic history. I do hope that my intended objectives may be achieved.
Objectively, anyone who carefully follows the sequence of these narratives will be able to enhance his or her knowledge of the Seerah. These narratives were rendered at various important moments of the Prophet Muhammad’s life. My dream is to motivate my readers to further explore the events that surround each narrative. Obviously, you would have to do more intensive studies to fully grasp the true historical facts of Islamic history and the life of Prophet Muhammad.
I have listed the sources from which I have extracted these narratives. They are all recommended for your reading. I compared each narrative as related in the sources I used. If the contents are identical, which was in every case, I retain the wordings of the narrative as it appears in the Critical Lives – Muhammad
by Yahiya Emerick.
I have allowed the better of my enthusiasm to overtake me and have included in the booklet some of the Poems I have written over 18 years ago and remained unpublished. I also thought it best to include a Manual on Islamic Concepts with a Checklist Reference that I am sure will help to foster the Islamic learning process. I have put a lot of thoughts into the manual while writing it. Thus, the Booklet is divided into four (4) sections as follows: Part I – Selective Narratives from the Seerah; Part II – Poems; Part III – Manual of Islamic Concepts – Checklist Reference; and Part IV – Miscellaneous Articles I have written for various publications. I do hope that this booklet will help you in your Islamic Educational advancement.
I am very thankful for your kind contribution to offset printing and distribution of this booklet. I also use your donations to assist Amaana Hands; a New York based charitable organization assisting the poor and needy. My wife Zeleena Hack has been doing a colossal job. I want to hail her efforts. My children Salmah, Samiyah and Esaam are wonderful blessings from Allah to us. They are my inspiration. May Allah continue to bless them and all children and their parents and may He increase us all in faith.
To the brothers and sisters who have encouraged me to present this booklet to others, I pray for Allah’s blessings on you.
In the end, I most want to thank my parents, Salim and Isha Hack, who has molded a wonderful set of children. By Allah’s Grace, their children, by their parents’ example have been pioneers of many Islamic Projects here in the United States of America and back home in Guyana. Among the Projects is the formation of the Central Islamic Organization of Guyana and the Guyana Islamic Trust. They have also been involved in local Islamic Da’wah work in Annandale, East Coast Demerara in Guyana. Here in the United States of America, their children continued the work by assisting in the formation of many Islamic Centers in around New York and New Jersey. More known is the Masjid Al-Abidin in Richmond Hill, Queens, New York, (where the author is serving as Deputy Imam) and National Islamic Association in Newark, New Jersey. Also they were instrumental in the formation of the Muslim Workers’ Activities and with Zeleena Hack and her brother Fazal Ali in Guyana, they founded
