In today's modern culture technology has offered our current day and age a wide array of comforts. From automobiles to refrigerators, sofas to shoes, we live in a day void of necessary physical challenges. The majority of us no longer work the land or fish the sea for our food, or build and maintain our own shelter, much less walk a few miles within one day. These comforts, as enjoyable and easy as they seem, become a crutch in our lives. We end up relying on them to the point where our habits change and therefore our bodies change for the worse.
The human body is exceptional at adapting to the stresses placed on it during every moment in time. It is constantly changing its shape to find homeostasis within a given environment. If you spend most of your day between sitting in your car, desk, couch, and then bed, you may go days or weeks without ever spending time sitting on the ground. Why is this important to us today?
