Dedication
My first gift and my last to you
I dedicate this book of my heart to you
The only wealth I have
Just as they are, to you
I speak the truth in all and say
I rather bring light to clear eyes,
Had rather hear you praise
Then the whole hard world with one consent.
In one continuous chorus of applause
Poured forth for me and mine
The homage of ripe praise
I write everything with love, and although
You are no longer here. You will
Forever be in my heart. Many tears
Pour from my eyes as I write
But life goes on . . .
Rest In Perfect Peace,
Uncle Nicky

"Don’t spend all your time trying to FIND yourself. Spend your time CREATING yourself into a person you will be proud of’’
- Sonya Parker
I wake up everyday feeling like I am all alone. I see no one there. The world is moving at a constant speed, where I am left all alone to try to catch up but fail time and time again. I see my family and friends living with their spouses, kids, and careers in place, and I feel like I am so far behind beyond the level of ever catching up to their speed of life.
They say go to college, get your degree, and your perfect job will fall into place. I did just that, and here I am, writing from a place of emptiness and depression. Nobody believes a black woman when we say we are in pain and that is what is killing us everyday. My pain is real, and the system we are taught to believe is broken.
Lost In The Image Of Perfection
No One is perfect; that is why we have erasers.
Where do I begin... growing up, I was overshadowed by an athletic D1 bound older brother who succeeded in every sport he played, and an older sister who not only has book smarts but was the leader of her class from kindergarten to twelfth grade as well as the social butterfly that everyone wanted to be around. Between the two of them all my life, I struggled to fit in and become my own person and not be referred to as Lil Sam or Lil Rose. I wanted a name for myself, so what exactly did I do.
Well, let me take you back to 22 years ago. I was at Johns Elementary. I was already known to my classmates and teachers as talkative. I just loved talking, only because I couldn’t talk for the first five years
