      if you inspire a poet to write about you

      you either touched their heart or broke it

      one look at you and something irrevocably changed in me clicked into place the moment

      our eyes first met just one look

      is all it took

      -the eyes are the windows to the soul

      does love at firstsightreally exist?

      for us it did

      not a conscious knowing of suddenly being in love it was-

      both subtle and overwhelming calming and exhilarating butterflies,

      heart flutters, goosebumps

      time slowing down and speeding up loud cosmic silence

      seeing and being seen for the first time

      our meeting unknown to us would be

      the most significant event of our lives

      we were in love before we ever met

      I have always loved you and you me

      every cell in my body lit up

      started dancing

      and gravitated towards you

      I have always felt small, invisible

      like I was yelling

      at the top of my lungs and no sound came out I put on shows

      and no one showed up until you

      -the sun illuminates the moon

      I wanted to believe fairy tales do come true

      could I really have found you a perfect match

      instead, I wondered where is the catch? there must be a catch

      girls like me do not get tobe

      with boys like you boys like you

      do not fall

      for girls like me

      -the stories we tell ourselves, passed on by those before us

      have you ever met someone and thought?

      oh shit!

      I am in trouble

      -and still I could not stop myself

      you whirl-winded into my life

      and exited just as swiftly, as you blewin

      sunny and warm happy and bright my eyes

      blinded by your light the clouds are rolling in an impending storm rain and wind

      I feel the thunder rumbling deep preceded by an angry roar

      next will come the flashing light and then I'll weep

      pouring down tears a violent release

      a powerful cleanse for as long as I need breaking down walls old worlds

      built in fear

      and when I'mspentI'll slowly breathe a gentlebreeze

      the storm once again will relent

      all I remembered for a long time

      in the weeks after

      you disappeared from my life was me, a broken mess

      on the bathroom floor and the nights

      I cried myself to sleep

      -ghosted

      the sudden absence of you was only part of my agony

      the rest was the conflictbetween my heart and my head dissecting themoments

      we shared

      and being unable

      to come to a conclusion because one moment

      I was sure you loved me and the next

      I wondered

      if you ever cared did I imagine it all?

      -what you believe is what you perceive

      when it is hurting let go

      you are holding on too tight

      being separated from you

      was like having a body part severed maybe because I was more me

      with you

      than I ever was before I wanted the person

      I was when I was with you

      I wanted to feel what I felt with you

      -lost in each other

      I chose to believe you never cared

      that it
