About this ebook
Alda Dorrough
I grew up in a small town in Arkansas. After I finished school, I made a career of the US Army. Upon retirement, I surrendered to the call from Jesus to follow him full-time, thus the inspiration to write this book.

Scripture Base
All messages in this book are from God, revealed by the Holy Spirit to the author.
All scriptures are taken from the New King James Version of the Holy Bible.
I make known to you, brethren, that the Gospel which was preached by me, is not after man, for I neither received it of man, nor was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ
(Galatians 1:11–12).
Jesus said, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He hath anointed me to preach the Gospel to the poor
(Luke 4:18).
God has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised
(Isaiah 61:1–2).

Preface
Sermons that make up this book were preached from the pulpit of Trinity Baptist Church, El Reno, Oklahoma; Oney Baptist Church, Albert, Oklahoma; Highland Baptist Church, Tacoma, Washington; and Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Tioga, Texas. The Lord blessed their delivery.
It is my prayer that the message contained in this book will be a great blessing to preachers, Christian workers, and to all who read it. May this book also inspire someone to do more work for the Kingdom of God, as well as bring lost people to Jesus.
May my Lord Jesus Christ, who is spoken of so often in this book, bless the printed pages to the salvation and edification of Christians.
Special gratitude is expressed to those who loved me and allowed me to preach to them.
The message of this book is that Jesus said, Follow me.

Dedications and Acknowledgements
Dedicated to all mankind, the lost and the saved. May all be followers of Jesus Christ. This is also dedicated to my wife, Juanita, who helped me with this book. We have been married for over sixty-two years. I deeply appreciate Katherine Newsome for editing and typing the manuscript—thank you very much. Most of all, I thank God, his son, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit for writing this book through me.
To God be the glory!

My Personal Calling to Serve God
A person can be called to serve Jesus Christ full-time in various manners, at different places and times.
The first time I felt God’s call on my life was when I was a very young man. I had just been saved at a tent revival in Fayetteville, North Carolina. As a result, I later made an appointment to see the military chaplain, as I was in the army at the time. However, the chaplain did not keep the appointment. After waiting for a long period, I supposed that perhaps God hadn’t called me after all.
Over the next twenty years of military service, I would, at times, occasionally feel God calling me, but I never acted upon those callings.
After retiring from military duty, I was living in Denison, Texas, enjoying the good life
of a civilian. God got my attention one last time. I remember it very well. Early one morning, the house was quiet; my son had gone to school, while my wife was sewing. I was sleeping, or at least trying to; it was still dark outside. A bright light in the bedroom awakened me. Looking out the window, I could see no lights, not even the streetlights. As I turned around toward the bed, the bright light shined on the wall again, beginning to take the shape of a person. When I realized that it was Jesus Christ, my legs gave out, and I fell down on my knees in weakness. The face of Christ was clear; he had a crown of thorns on his head, and blood ran down his face. His eyes seemed to look right through me, shining with tears. Some of his beard had been plucked out, and he appeared sad. Jesus Christ did not say one word to me distinctly; however, I could hear
