About this ebook
Over many years, volumes have been written about Jesus of Nazareth and the people with whom he associated. Very little has been written about Jesus as a young man…as a little child.
Jesus was a little boy at one time. A boy like any other little boy doing little-boy things, having friends, and helping his family with day-to-day tasks of ordinary life. As you read this narrative, you will meet two of his young friends, Bassam and Elahm, and an elderly man named Fayyaad, whose overwhelming generosity provided many new adventures for Jesus. Plus, Fayyaad’s dealings with the nearby caravans and the stories he would share with Jesus would broaden Jesus’s awareness of a larger community.
Along with his friends, Jesus learned a great deal from observing many different craftsmen and artisans around the village of Nazareth. And with this newly acquired knowledge, the band of boys would apply their skills to improve things at the “little family’s” home. And with each success, the family would give thanks, and they would celebrate.
Jesus Builds a Shower is a story about a little boy who loves his father so much, he wanted to do something special just for him.

Chapter 1
The Early Days
Israel is a country located on the eastern edge of the Mediterranean Sea, which is between southern Europe and northern Africa. Nazareth is a small town located in the northern part of Israel and is considered the boyhood home of Jesus. It was considered a tiny farming village where local residents were shopkeepers, bead makers, and carpenters like Jesus’s father, Joseph. The town is surrounded by many rolling hills with lots of sheep.
Located to the west between Nazareth and the Mediterranean Sea was a special trade route
named the Via Maris, or the Way of the Sea. This route was called the sacred bridge
connecting the great trading centers…—Egypt and Mesopotamia—a distance just under a thousand miles between the two.
Although the Via Maris did not go directly through Nazareth, it passed by the small village within a few miles. Shopkeepers and craftsmen could hook up with the caravans traveling along the Via Maris to trade their wares. Although a small village, having a population of about 100–150 people, Nazareth was a community that was continuing to grow, offering many opportunities to the merchants and workers who lived there.

The weather in Nazareth was warm and pleasant, having hot, dry, and dusty conditions in the summertime with very little rainfall…—most of the rainfall happens in the wintertime. The sun is very intense and contributes to creating even more dust as you move about the paths of the village.
So simple travel, from one place to the next, would cause the traveler to become rather soiled and dirty about his feet.
Many times, travelers, upon reaching the home of a person they were visiting, would dip their feet into a basin of water by the door to wash off the dirt and ever-present dust they picked up from walking the paths to their destination. In wealthy homes, a servant would be given the task of washing the feet of the visitors…—a sign of courtesy and welcoming.
