    Introduction

This nonfiction book shows that some people in the world will basically agree that, for ancient Judaism, Zion refers to the city of Jerusalem, specifically the hill on which the city of David was built: that Zion is the dwelling place of the God of Israel and is the promised land of the Hebrews, and the people of Israel. And Zion, in Christianity, is the heavenly city and the redeemed community. And Zion, culturally, relates to the establishment of the modern state of Israel - that is, the nation which has a right to exist as a country surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Egypt. And Zion, politically, is all about the support of a Jewish homeland within those borders and is no doubt a fulfillment of biblical prophecies.

But the question is this: Does the world care about those definitions of Zion? Most people do not care. I wrote this book for those people, to show them that they must care, because God's wrath is on its way for those who refuse the warnings of his saints. And I also wrote this book for those who do care, because God wants those who care to play in a harmonious orchestra as his church.

It is clear that God loves Zion and he created Zion. And since I am a Gentile saved by the Christ of Zion, I wrote this book as his Gentile. I started this book in November 2023, while Israel was in its 47th day of fighting Hamas: a fight which began because Hamas launched a land, sea and air assault on Israel from the Gaza Strip. And if I recall correctly, I was prompted to write this book because of the 1st day of that fight, but I waited to write this book because I wasn't finished writing what I had started in May, a book called Yeshua is Jah's Yes!

When I almost finished writing that book about Yeshua, I started coming to the conclusion that the Israel-Hamas War of 2023 was becoming the root for Matthew 25: that is, the world, through that war, was beginning to see the formation of those nations which support Israel, and that would be an indication of who the sheep of Matthew 25 would be. And so, having said that, let us take a look at what God's holy Word says about Zion. In case you don't know, that Word is the Bible.

Now if we focus on the meaning of the word Zion in a more technical way, I suppose you could say it means the name of the Canaanite hill fortress in Jerusalem captured by David. As you read on, you shall see if the Bible really says this about Zion. The group of Jews known as Chabad say that the Hebrew word for Zion can be translated as 'Indication'. That means that that location in the world indicates something. That means that God placed that location there by that name as a sign to the world. Keeping that in mind, let us look at what the Bible says, and let us see what Zion indicates through the lens of Holy Writ.

    Zion

Samuel, the prophet judge of Israel, lived about 11 centuries before the birth of Christ. According to the English Standard Version of the Bible, the first mention of Zion in Holy Writ is in the second book named after him, in the book called 2 Samuel.

That mention of Zion is intimately connected to David being anointed as king of Israel. This is what the Holy Ghost tells us:

Then all the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and said, Behold, we are your bone and flesh. In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was you who led out and brought in Israel. And the Lord said to you, ‘You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over Israel.’

So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the Lord, and they anointed David king over Israel. David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years. At Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and at Jerusalem he reigned over all Israel and Judah thirty-three years.

And the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who said to David, You will not come in here, but the blind and the lame will ward you off — thinking, David cannot come in here. Nevertheless, David took the stronghold of Zion, that is, the city of David. And David said on that day, Whoever would strike the Jebusites, let him get up the water shaft to attack ‘the lame and the blind,’ who are hated by David's soul. Therefore it is said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.

And David lived in the stronghold and called it the city of David. And David built the city all around from the Millo inward. And David became greater and greater, for the Lord, the God of hosts, was with him.

And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, also carpenters and masons who built David a house. And David knew that the Lord had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel.

And David took more concubines and wives from Jerusalem, after he came from Hebron, and more sons and daughters were born to David. And these are the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, Ibhar, Elishua, Nepheg, Japhia, Elishama, Eliada, and Eliphelet.

In the next book of the Christian Bible (because the book order of the Old Testament of the Jewish Bible is a little different from the Christian Bible, even though it is the same Bible in content), we see the next mention of Zion. Solomon, David's son, became king after David, and this is what 1 Kings 8 says:

Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the leaders of the fathers' houses of the people of Israel, before King Solomon in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the city of David, which is Zion. And all the men of Israel assembled to King Solomon at the feast in
