There are times when I look at people's reviews and wonder how they arrive where they arrive. I can't overlook simplistic prose, facile plots, samey tropes, and quite simply a total lack of being pulled into the story or finding the characters likeable and realistic. Brie, whose name kept reminding me far too often of some runny cheese, was such a simpleton and of such obnoxiously low intelligence, that it wasn't even interesting following her. Nothing about that "submissive training" was in any way original or intriguing, it was the ever-samey D/s sauce that seems to command the genre.
Just for the fun of it:
Would vanilla people find it enticing and sexy if they got taught "practical sex" at school and everyone expected them to behave in exactly the same way, use always the exact same positions and approach each other always in the exact same manner? I doubt it. So why do authors insist BDSMers have to do precisely that?
ETA: rabid fans to boot. Ouch. And there goes the plus point.

I LOVED this book, Brie truly embraced the Art of Submission. I thought going in, it was just gonna be about sex, lots and lots of sex, you know the kind that gets boring because it’s like you’re reading the same thing over and over…well this is soooooo NOT one of those books, yes, there was sinfully-delicious-kinky-sex but there actually was a story to follow which added a whole other level.
Ever since the day Sir walked in the smoke shop, she knew that wherever he was she should be to, never in her wildest dreams did she imagine that in six weeks she would be a totally different person. Each night she would head to class and after there would be Practicum’s that would push her limits, out of the six girls that began only three continued. Nothing is private, the curriculum is unique to each girl, they have to learn from each other praises and failures.

From the first moment she met Sir, she knew he was the one, but being a trainer as well as the Headmaster of the school, he could not cross that line...again. Brie's heart is torn, there are other distractions, Tono – Master of Kinbaku and Faelan – the eager young wolf that call to her, but in the end she had to choose the only one would allow her to be true to herself.
I am so glad I waited and bought the entire series, it totally sucked me in. It was so much more than sex; it was about pushing your limits, trust and being true to yourself. I think I even shocked myself by tearing up; it had me all over the place with my emotions but totally worth it.
Brie and her Master’s story continues, I’m not sure if I am ready to pick their story back up, preferring to live on the high and possibly wait until all the stories are out. I'm so happy to have found a new fav!

Fabulous. Overall loved it.
Minor annoyances:
Every dom had a huge member.
Number of times the word moist was used = 27. Princely cock= 7. Disengaged = 7
:) It's just personal preference as I detest the M word. Anyway, the book is great. Very graphic and very hot.

5 stars, I loved it and will read again many times! BDSM
First I would like to say, that it has a wonderful cover. It portraits brilliantly what this book is all about. I was really drawn to the facial expressions of both models in the cover.
I know this book was previously published as 9 separated novelettes, but I couldn't really see it while reading the book. It was masterfully combined and it's perfect as a novel! Even though, some people may say it has become a long book, I was never tired and always wanted to read more.
The author wrote several interesting characters. I think this was one of the highest notes of this book collection. Each new character brought something new to the BDSM world. Each character showed a different side of the D/s relationship and had a different approach, different preferences and dislikes.
Brie was an amazing character, even though for a time, I was worried about the "perfection aura" she had. Then, she failed miserably at cooking and I was so happy to read it. :)
I believe this book was all about Brie and not much about her Doms. So I would rather not choose a favorite yet, because I believe most of them has so much room to be explored.
All I can say is that I totally loved Marquis Gray and Mr. Gallant!
I think all good stories need an antagonist and Ms. Clark was a perfect example given in this collection.
There were so many interesting moments, that I find it hard to pick only one novelette, but if I had to make a choice I would say the last one. I felt Brie's pain, I felt her doubts, I really felt with/for her in this one!
I love all the little fantasies and scenes of the book, but my top three would be: Brie in her first auction with Donkova. That fantasy was hot! I also really enjoyed her task/ritual time with Master Coen and her auction day with Faelan. These were steamy hot scenes. Lots of cold shower afterwards!
A small summary:
Brie is bored with her life until she gets a business card from a distinguish gentleman that really intrigues her. The card invites her to be part of a school for submissives.
She enrolls in the program and has six weeks to learn how to be a proper submissive. Each week she is faced with new challenges that helps her learn about herself and grow as a person.
Brie finds in submitting the answer for her restlessness. She encounters several wonderful Doms and has a hard time choosing THE ONE.
I totally enjoyed my journey through the world of Brie and I'm really looking forward to reading more of her.
I recommend this book for anyone that likes BDSM romances!

You know that feeling. That feeling when you read a book by an author that you've never read before and it is just so freaking fantabulous that when you're finished you are so excited because now you can go read everything else that author has written? Yep. Totally the case here. At this point I don't even remember where I heard about this book (although I think it may have been ranked high on a list somewhere) but whereever it was I am so very grateful because this was so delightful to read!
Brie works day in and day out at a tobacco store even though her real dream is to be a filmaker. When a sexy guy (named Sir) comes into the store one day and leaves her a buisness card that leads her to the Submissive training center, she finds herself inrigued. Essentially she signs up for the course and the reader gets to follow her throughout the six week training period, followed by a collaring ceremony. Ever since reading Fifty Shades of Gray (I know, I know...hate on me haters ;P )I have been extremely interested in the BDSM world and have been downloading alot of books pertaining to that subject. This is DEFINATELY the best one I have read so far. The two main things I look for in books like this were there: a great story and AMAZING sex scenes. But I was surprised at the depth of this story. I really liked the main character, Brie, and I loved watching her grow as a person as she went through the program. She grew alot and you could really see how much she changed throughout the story. Not only was it a hot story, but it was very moving as well. Color me impressed!
Additionally, there was a whole shit ton of information regarding the world of Doms and subs, so if you are interested in this culture, or are just looking for a well-written sexy read, this book is really worth checking out! I enjoyed it immensely. :)

This originally came out in 9 separate parts. I bought the first two and read them. Bought the next chapter or so and decided to save them until I could read them all together but ended up buying the collected edition instead - everything in one nice neat package.
Basically, this is the story of one Brianna Bennett, aspiring filmmaker. Unfortunately, like we have all heard about Hollywood for the last 8 decades or so, it can be hard to get started. So she is working in a tobacco shop - not a bad place, really, but not where she wants to be. But then one day a man comes in and pretty much turns her whole world upside down.
The Submissive Training Center does exactly what it sounds like. Of course, Brianna didn't quite know enough to know if she was one. But she was dying to find out. So she applies and gets accepted. And then embarks on a multi-week exploration of herself and this new world. Some of it is light and cute. Some of it is not either of those things. It is all very consensual but also very challenging at times. She is definitely a different person at the very end.
And a person with a choice to make that could have a profound difference on her life. By the time you reach that point, it may seem obvious or it may not.
Definitely a fantastic book for anyone interested in BDSM and I think those both new and experience will appreciate it.

I can't understand how the average rating for this book is 4.48.... And I'm sure given all by women readers... I like this theme a lot and I have read many books for fun only, but I really don't get how they have given this book such a high rating! It's all humiliation and putting women down, and I love this genere, but this was something else...

I was so excited to here another Brie was available!! I loved this new edition of Brie, and this one is the start of her life with her new Master. It picks up right where the story ended; at graduation day from the training centre. Brie and "Sir" go to his house to begin their life together. What a treat it is to get more of a glimpse into Sir's life, home, and even some of his past regarding his family. It nice to have some insight into his character and find out a little of what makes him the way he is. Of course Brie is her usually charming self!! I loved how she was trying so hard to please Sir with making him an omelette; and she struggled through it to have him turn around and say, "Brie, I really despise eggs!!" LOL! It's great how Red Phoenix adds humor into her stories, and it just makes them that much more enjoyable! Last but not least, the sex is as usual, thrilling and explosive!! There is some light BDSM, and not surprisingly Brie does get a punishment thrown in her direction!
If you enjoyed the Brie collection, then you must go out and get the first novella of After Graduation! It is worth every penny! I look forward to future installments and seeing where life will take her in the upcoming adventures of Brie!

WOW. I'm truly blown away here. I never expected to fall in love with so many characters. The writing is brilliant and each 'Scene' was fresh and exciting. I felt as if I was there...wished I was there, lol. I was completely taken in and never wanted to leave. Oh and the ending...no cliffhanger and it was the best I've read in a really long time--perfect.I'm onto the Graduation series.

Such a refreshing (& informative) BDSM romance. Originally it was released in 9 parts, but I think it reads better as one book... it is quite long though!
This story is about young Brie's journey during her 6 week course at a Submissive Training Center. Her training involves exposure to lots of trainers and different aspects of BDSM and D/s relationships. At the end of the each week there is an auction where they get to experience some of their fantasies with dominants from outside the centre.
At the end of the course, the subs are allowed to present their collar to a Dom that they want as their master. I didn't predict that was Brie was going to end up with the Dom she did, but I still loved the end! The collaring ceremony and the words they exchanged was so sweet.
I also enjoyed Brie's interaction with the other two subs in her course, especially the jokes they kept cracking to cheer themselves up.
If I was ever into these kinds of things... hell.. I would want Tono. The man can get her soaring in subspace without any pain and he has the gentlest of souls. Gah!

HOLY HOTNESS!!!!! Wow it never stopped!!! I have never had so much trouble reading a book in front of people in my life ha ha!! This was definitely an experience! WOW!!

Reading this book is kind of like showing Star Wars to someone under the age of thirty for the first time. Their reaction usually runs something like, "What's the big deal? This is so cliched." But that's the problem with a forty-year-old sci-fi movie. Star Wars was a gamechanger, and everything that came after it in the genre was a product of its influence. So if you watched decades of scifi, then switched to Star Wars for the first time, of course it would feel like a cliche because it originated the cliche.
I assume something similar is going on with Brie here, if on a much accelerated timescale. Otherwise, I can't explain the ridiculously high ratings for this series. As a piece of smut, the sheer variety of scenes, fetishes, and themes explored was fun. And Brie's sexual exploration with so many different partners is a pleasing departure from the more traditional one-Dom-only approach. But as a piece of fiction, each sexual encounter took on a facile, mad-lib quality, especially with respect to each Dom. We got a Dom in every shape, size, and color, each with their own particular title, fetish, and form of sub address. Yet we rarely got a peek at their characters beyond generic (and occasionally uncomfortable) stereotypes. Then there were the three subs of the piece, which felt like the three bears: this one's too bitchy, this one's boobs are too fake, but Brie is juuuuust right. And by "right" I mean devoid of any distinguishing characteristics, yet possessing a magical vagina that EVERY Dom she meets wants a piece of. I guarantee you Brie's middle name is Mary Sue.
Back in 2012, when this was first published (and the dinosaurs roamed Amazon's exploding self-pub romance scene), maybe there wasn't yet a great deal of BDSM-themed romantica to compare this to. I know Cherise Sinclair was already kicking butt and taking names then, but perhaps Brie was more competitively priced at the time? Brie's got her rabid fans out there, and I suppose she wouldn't be the worst introduction to the genre for someone new. But I've read other authors who explored the same themes with more flair (Annabel Joseph), more sophistication (Abigail Barnette), more three-dimensional characters (Kit Rocha), and, above all, more realism (Tiffany Reisz). So here in 2017, I'm forced to ask...what's the big deal? This is so cliched.

Yet we rarely got a peek at their characters beyond generic (and occasionally uncomfortable) stereotypes. Then there were the three subs of the piece, which felt like the three bears: this one's too bitchy, this one's boobs are too fake, but Brie is juuuuust right. And by "right" I mean devoid of any distinguishing characteristics, yet possessing a magical vagina that EVERY Dom she meets wants a piece of. I guarantee you Brie's middle name is Mary Sue.
Back in 2012, when this was first published (and the dinosaurs roamed Amazon's exploding self-pub romance scene), maybe there wasn't yet a great deal of BDSM-themed romantica to compare this to. I know Cherise Sinclair was already kicking butt and taking names then, but perhaps Brie was more competitively priced at the time? Brie's got her rabid fans out there, and I suppose she wouldn't be the worst introduction to the genre for someone new. But I've read other authors who explored the same themes with more flair (Annabel Joseph), more sophistication (Abigail Barnette), more three-dimensional characters (Kit Rocha), and, above all, more realism (Tiffany Reisz). So here in 2017, I'm forced to ask...what's the big deal? This is so cliched.

Red Phoenix never dissappoints this reader. Brie Learns The Art of Submission is the compilation of all 9 Brie novellettes. I enjoyed reading all 9 stories in one. The flow of the stories was outstanding and I would have never known this story was formerly 9 different novellettes.

Really bad bdsm. So many rules and limits broken or non existent starting with the head trainer. Shallow, petty, air head heroine. Writing was so clinical it was not sexy. No relationship building. No condoms.

Brie works at a tobacco store while trying to make a career with her college degree of filmmaking. While at work one day she meets "Sir" with whom she is immediately enthralled. "Ladies, it is imperative you understand that a true submissive finds pleasure in serving the needs and desires of another. If it is more about your needs than your Dom's, then it is just roleplaying in the bedroom"
We meet two other young ladies training to be submissives as well as various Doms throughout the book. I loved the variety of the characters throughout the book, because they were all different in their specialties, likes and dislikes, and we were exposed to so many unique aspects of the BDSM community. Each evening at the training center, the ladies take a class, then a "practicum", where they practice what they have learned on the school's various trainers and guest Doms. We see it all in 3rd person through Brie's eyes.
"Do you want me to be gentle or rough?"
Again, she paused. "Whatever is your pleasure, Sir."
The one thing I really liked about this book is it is a very happy book in general. Nobody is horribly broken, there is no terrible angst. Brie is completely sweet and lovable, and apparently everyone loves her. And boy, does this girl LOVE sex! She knows how to turn every negative to a positive and enjoy herself immensely despite who she is with. But it's "Sir", the school's headmaster, that she really wants.
Becoming intimate with so many Doms is bound to confuse the young lady. Because it is clear she has a special connection to "Sir" some of the trainers resent her. But the others just want her. And "Sir" has to maintain propriety as the school's headmaster. As part of the program, Brie gets to live out her fantasies with different bidding Doms, she gets pushed to her limits and learns new things about herself along the way, all while striving to be the best sub she could be. My only issue? Sometimes Brie got a bit too perfect, until she cooked, that is.
“You will be taking both of us at the same time,” he said smoothly, as his hand continued to leave a trail of fire on her skin.

Because it's like all of a woman's fantasies come to life. Even if you don't like one scene, you move to the next. There is a romance in this story. Brie finds herself having to choose between 4 Doms at one point, and she falls in love with 2. Who becomes her Master after graduation? Read and find out!
Likes:
-Lots of funny, snarky lines. ("I googled it, Sir")
-Lea and Brie were completely likable.
-Mary and Ms. Clarke were characters you love to hate.
-The huge variety of the situations that were set up for the students. (In other words tons of unique, kinky sex--each scene is completely different, and they are all HOT)
-Despite the copious amounts of hot stranger sex, there was still a lot of story.
-Since this is a school and 90% of the book is about or related to the school, I learned a lot with Brie (my husband wants to thank Red as well).
-This is one long-ass book, and is currently on sale.
-You can read it all at once, but it is also easy to break into smaller bites so your vagina doesn't almost fall off (like mine almost did).
-Though Red uses a lot of sex words that usually drive me nuts (see GNI Dirty Words 1 and GNI Dirty Words 2), there is so much sex in this book, you need to use every word you can.
-Nothing ever went too far for me or totally grossed me out, no gross "cum shots" nor did she even use the word cum (though this is the author that said "thick viscous liquid" which did make me gag.)
Dislikes:
-We never learned the background of any of the characters, not even Brie. Does she have parents? Siblings? We really know nothing except we want to be friends with her.
-Sometimes it got a bit too "teachy". (But I learned...ask my husband!)
-Protection was never brought up. I know condoms aren't sexy, but it really bugged me that (unless I missed it) there was never talk of being tested, or birth control and they all had bare sex with tons of partners.
-Brie was sometimes just a bit too perfect and sweet.
-I'm not sure how Brie found herself in love so easily, with more than one man. But then again, sometimes you know (especially after sex!)

A wonderful story of learning to be one's self...
I was delighted to see that the nine Brie novellas had been combined into one book. I bought it and read it immediately and have not regretted the decision at all!!!
It is a story for anyone who is interested in BDSM and in getting an overview of everything it entails. Through Brie, the reader gets an insight into what it takes to become a submissive.
The training center is a six week course where Brie and her fellow students are taken through their paces. An in-depth study into transforming innocent wannabees into accomplished and polished submissives. Not a single aspect/topic of submission is ignored. As we learn with Brie, we are introduced to obedience, bondage, floggings, anal sex, objectification, oral sex, humiliation and a variety of other experiences such as Kinbaku (Japanese rope bondage), role playing, the use of a bullwhip.. just to name a few. What really made an impact was the way this story, was perceived from a learning process for all. Brie and the other 'newbies' didn't embrace everything that was introduced with immediate enthusiasm, which makes for some interesting conversations at times. The reader learns that in training to become a submissive, this means pushing boundaries and going beyond the realm of what you think you are capable of and comfortable with.
The subject of this book suggests that most of it revolves around sexual acts, yet there is so much more. But really... how else are you going to train submissives? But as you will discover, there was also room for a bit of background story...and yes a love story in the making. As the reader gets a chance to get to know and experience how and what Brie achieves and appreciate how she grows. I liked the way Brie was torn between several of the men she interacts with causing a wonderful balance to what she was learning. In most romances the lead can't make up their mind about who they love and want to be with, but in this book, Red Phoenix made it make sense. When you as the reader can experience the emotional trials and tribulations within the story, its hard not to develop feelings for Brie and other characters. You actually become so very intimate with each one. The fact that the story kept me guessing as to who Brie would end up with in the end was both a surprising twist and an added bonus.
I also liked that each of the Doms and submissives are individuals in their own stances. They are young , old, well built, out of shape, different races, temperamental, compassionate; they are just an eclectic group of people I would love to know personally. Many popular books with a BDSM theme seem to portray certain stereotypes as their main characters, yet with this book there is such a variety depicting every day people. It made for a very nice change in which the characters came across as people I personal could meet in my day to day life.
Another praise for this book is the way allowed by the author to inform the reader about BDSM and submission without ever getting preachy. The story is set in a learning environment of a school, making perfect sense as we learn the lessons along with Brie, which never interfered with the flow of the story but rather enhanced it. It is definitely a wonderful story of finding one's self. Find out for yourself...I'm sure you will love Brie, Master and all the other characters and be begging to want to know what's next. I know I did! The author has continue on with the series “Brie Embraces the Heart of Submission” and it is as powerful as this one. You will need to read this book before continuing...you'll thank me later I'm sure. Some of my friends have!

This book is so blatantly racist and sexist it's insane to me that it is still available to purchase. Here's why:
-The FMC is scared of a black man because she was bullied by black people while she lived in Africa. She actually visibly shudders when a black man approaches her and she has to be soothed before she can even be in his presence. This is so insane I have no words.
-The Asian character who I believe was Korean, is described as having "slanted eyes" and the FMC wasn't sure if he could actually see because of his eye shape. Again, no words.
-The female characters that take part in this school are told that they have all the power, but it's very clear they have no power. They are told that their purpose is to please their Dom and the Dom is there to constantly push their limits because within 2 seconds of seeing a sub they know what they're doing and what that person will like (this is sarcasm).
-The women tell the school their hard limits, what they don't like, and then are put into situations where they have to do the very things on that list or they are kicked out of the program.
-If a student of this school said "red" or that they wanted to stop, they were kicked out of the school. For knowing their limits they're kicked out and forced to quit.
-Not only are the teachers sexist, but that fact that Sir immediately treats Brie as a favorite and starts to use his authority to basically groom her as his sub while emotionally manipulating her is disgusting.
-All the women in the "training" are forced to wear very tiny outfits, walk on insanely tall heels, and have to learn how to be more "feminine" during their training. I think a literal quote from the novel is that the extremely tall heels made their feminine form more pleasing for their Doms.
-Surprisingly (not surprisingly) none of the instructors are people of color. They're white men. I think there's one woman. Maybe.
-Brie is the literal definition of a pick-me girl. She's the one all the "Doms" want, she's the one who gets everything correct, knows all the answers, and has Sir's attention for being such a natural sub and so malleable. She's the star pupil because she put down all of her hard limits, but when these "Doms" literally just disregard all of that and put her in situations that are her hard limits exactly, she just takes it and doesn't say no at all. To anything.
-All the women send in their list of hard limits. Things they don't want to do or preferences when it comes to partners. All of that is used not to protect the women, but to force them into the situations they're uncomfortable with. Things that literally are triggers for them from past traumas and they're just forced to confront it because it's the way that they should heal, just deal with it.
Here's the thing, I can go on and on and I'm sure there are hundreds more examples throughout each of these short novellas, but the thing is, I can't read anymore. I really can't. It turns my stomach. The blatant racism, sexism, and just the horror of what has been put on paper is appalling. Please don't read these and don't support this author in anything, ever.
Edit: the author has gone back to edit some of the items I have mentioned here. While she made a weak attempt, this book still has so much racist, sexist, misogynistic, fat-phobic, (you know what just all the phobics and all the -isms). She would have to literally take every single book down, completely rewrite the series, and get it edited and reviewed by sensitivity readers before it would even be mildly acceptable to have these available for purchase.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story author Red Phoenix did the damn thing in writing about Brie and Sir.
This was a real eye opener for me because it took you into the life of a woman wanting to learn to be a Submissive. The training center is where it all begins for Brie Bennett who is an aspiring film director currently working in a Tobacco shop. As Brie is contemplating a hum drum life, the door opens and enters Thane Davis aka Sir aka Headmaster of the Submissive Training center. Her world all of a sudden knew what it was missing and it was him. Who is he? Where did he come from? And how could I belong to him?
Thane Davis stepped into the small tobacco shop for just a quick stop and see's Brie, shrewdness and quickness determined that he wanted her period. As she rang up the cigarette purchase of the woman who was with him, he slips the school's business card underneath the cash. Gives another perusal of her and then leaves the store. Brie sees the card and tucks it into her pocket to look at once she gets home.
The one card, the applying to get into the school and the dogged determination to be with Sir, set these two on a collision course that would bring two people destined together. It just was a really great thing watching those two circle around each other, well Brie was more forthcoming with her feelings for Sir, he was more reserved and had to be because he ran the school.
I learned a lot about the training of becoming a Submissive, it was very informative and extensive and you realize that their are different levels of submission. My only drawback was the sleeping with the different trainers, and when I thought about it, every Teacher and Dominant came with their own expertise and to really get an understanding of what your really made of, your comfort levels are blasted out of the windows LOL!!!
I was seriously rooting for Brie and Sir (Thane) I wanted them to have more interactions with each other in this story but I understand it was setting up for them to take center stage in Book 2 "Brie Embraces the Heart of Submission: After Graduation (Brie Series Book 2)".
If you want to learn the lifestyle, this book is for you and like I stated before author Red Phoenix did justice to Brie and Sir's story.

Thane Davis stepped into the small tobacco shop for just a quick stop and see's Brie, shrewdness and quickness determined that he wanted her period. As she rang up the cigarette purchase of the woman who was with him, he slips the school's business card underneath the cash. Gives another perusal of her and then leaves the store. Brie sees the card and tucks it into her pocket to look at once she gets home.
The one card, the applying to get into the school and the dogged determination to be with Sir, set these two on a collision course that would bring two people destined together. It just was a really great thing watching those two circle around each other, well Brie was more forthcoming with her feelings for Sir, he was more reserved and had to be because he ran the school.
I learned a lot about the training of becoming a Submissive, it was very informative and extensive and you realize that their are different levels of submission. My only drawback was the sleeping with the different trainers, and when I thought about it, every Teacher and Dominant came with their own expertise and to really get an understanding of what your really made of, your comfort levels are blasted out of the windows LOL!!!
I was seriously rooting for Brie and Sir (Thane) I wanted them to have more interactions with each other in this story but I understand it was setting up for them to take center stage in Book 2 "Brie Embraces the Heart of Submission: After Graduation (Brie Series Book 2)".
If you want to learn the lifestyle, this book is for you and like I stated before author Red Phoenix did justice to Brie and Sir's story.

This is one of those books, where I can see why it reviews so high, and I can also agree with the negative review which makes it hard to review.
I'm not a submissive, I could never be married to the life, for one I'm too lazy, for two, I'm too lazy.
BDSM is more of friends with benefits kind of the thing for me.
Now if had a chance that Brie had, I'd jump on that train without looking back.
The story is about self-discovery, and finding who Brie is as a submissive. The reader can also learn a lot from the story. Brie is put in so many positions and I mean that literally, she finds what she craves, likes, and what she doesn't like.
The reader can also see what works for them, and what doesn't. So it makes for an interesting read.
The reader meets many different men, and by the end of the book, Brie has a list of potential Doms that work for her. FYI my list would have been different. LOL
Before I get into why I this book bothered me, this is a sexy read. So my smut stars are a solid 5 stars.
The insta love, and the obsession drove me nuts.
This story focuses mostly on sex version of BDSM, where it can almost come off as disrespectful to the subs in this story.
I'm all about flaunting my sexual prowess, but I kept thinking if I were in her shoes would I feel good about myself at the end of the day. It was almost like these subs were high paid prostitutes.
Lastly, the Dom she chooses. I don't feel like the Brie knew enough about the Dom to make that choice.
All in all, I really did enjoy this book, I couldn't put it down, I felt legit feelings, and as I said before its sexy.
I won't be moving on the next book, simply because I can admit that I didn't like Brie, but I look forward to more from this author.

WELL I LEARNED SOME NEW THINGS!

I had never heard of this book, or the author.
The cover kinda turned me off, but once I started, I didn't want to put this sucker down.
I usually complain about sex being the central part of the story. WOAH. WOAH. WOAH. I ACTUALLY LEARNED SOME NEW THINGS. The story is fast paced & unique for me.
Brie is learning the Art of Submission, truly that's what the story is about, but there's more. I mean it's exciting going through the whole process with her. There were so many delicious Masters/Doms, I never got bored. I was rubbing my hands together wondering what was going to happen next.

I was swept off my feet by the story, the characters, the authors writing and the erotic things I read. Totally captivated!!!
This book as the writing of Red Phoenix is one of a kind. While reading, it was as not as I was reading but as I was living it. Cannot describe it enough, you have to experience this...

This is not a character-driven story. The MC has no back story, no flaws, no mentioned family, no motivations. She's simply a vehicle used to demonstrate BDSM instruction. The sex scenes are technical and classroom-style, not passionate. There are no memorable quotes or thought-provoking moments. Just a lot of sex.
Some might find this enjoyable. It just wasn't for me, so I'm not going to rate it.

I thought this was a very interesting look at the D/s relationship and what training might be provided to someone interested in it. I guess I'm pretty naive about this stuff...but do places like this really exist? I really liked Brie's character and loved her choice of Doms at the end!

Red Phoenix created a beautifully romantic, erotic story with Brie Learns the Art of Submission: Submissive Training Center . I have to be honest, this book intimidated me at first, but then I fell in love with Brie and her personality. She is a film student graduate trying to make her way into the film business. Tobacco Shop employee by day, committed student by night. One fateful day a man walks into her shop, buys a pack of cigarettes, leaves her a very large tip and a business card. "SUBMISSIVE TRAINING CENTER" That little card would change her life forever.
Upon investigating the website address on that card, she finds herself face to face with the erotic world of BDSM. Curiosity bites her and she inquires. Brie allows her desires to take over and applies. She is soon committed to learning how to become a Submissive, and a committed student she is, indeed. Over the next 400 pages, I received the most thorough education into the world of BDSM. I was introduced to obedience, bondage, anal sex, objectification, floggings, canings, oral sex and my favorite, Kinbaku (Japanese bondage) DON'T JUDGE! ;-) What I truly loved about this book was that I was learning right along with Brie. It was instructional and informative but never written out of place, or like it was a text book. I, along with Brie, found myself pushing the boundaries of comfort. I have never read an "Erotica" book before, so I related to Brie in the fact that this was a whole new experience!
The characters in this book were fabulous. She wrote every shape, color, ethnicity, size and attitude into the bodies of these characters. I loved that everyone involved didn't have six pack abs, 20 something ages and drop dead gorgeousness. It seriously made the story more believable. There really are too many people to mention, but I LOVED Sir (duh) and I really enjoyed Tono and Marquis Gray. Ms. Clark was a super bitch that wanted nothing more than to see Brie fail...ugh! Damn woman! We were also able to see how her relationships grew among her peers. While it wasn't always easy, she pushed through to them and gained two beautiful friendships.
Although this book was obviously about sexual experiences and situations, Red also wrote a romance of characters into the story and how true feelings were felt and experienced throughout this whole learning experience. The interactions between the trainers and trainees was very dynamic. One of the biggest things I loved about the way Brie learned the art was that trust was of the utmost importance; trusting herself, trusting her trainers and trusting her Doms. Having submissive "auctions", acting out fantasies, experiencing Kinbaku for the first time...all powerful scenes! Bravo Red! As graduation nears, Brie learns that she will be able to chose a Dom and present him with a collar, signifying that she will belong to him exclusively. All the feelings she has experienced with other Doms throughout her training; Sir, Tono, Faelen...who and how will she chose? I have my favorites but at the end of this story, my heart had chosen one too. LOL
