Secrets hide behind every corner of the castle walls in the first volume of an exciting Webtoon romantasy graphic novel that follows the budding romance between a lady-in-waiting and an enchanted suit of armor.
While humans and fairies are at war beyond the castle walls, Lucia’s life is dedicated to helping prepare Lady Kirsi for her upcoming wedding to King Reimund.
Lucia’s time at court takes a dazzling turn when she accompanies Lady Kirsi to a royal tournament that calls together all of the kingdom's brave knights for a competition of strength and wit. A magically animated suit of armor, brought to life by Norrix the court mage's complicated enchantment spell, enters the ring and challenges the winning knight. Lucia is immediately attracted to the armor's dark, mysterious charm and lovingly names him Modeus. Bonded by their mutual status as outcasts within the kingdom, the two begin to develop an unlikely yet thrilling connection and sparks (both metaphorical and magical) fly.
The truth is, Lucia is hiding a dangerous secret about her own identity. She is the enemy: a fairy. She fears being exposed to the whole human kingdom, but she desperately desires to learn more about herself—especially with the arrival of a winged visitor who has infiltrated the castle walls for reasons still unknown...
Complete with original behind-the-scenes content and a bonus storyline exclusive to the book, this first volume includes episodes 1–17 of the greatly successful Webtoon webcomic Suitor Armor and sets the stage for a grand adventure in magic, romance, mystery, fantasy creatures, friendship, self-discovery, and more!
Who knew a suit of armour could be so swoon worthy! This graphic novel is adorably cute. I love Modeus and I can't wait to read more of this story. I love the way the story played out like a classic fairytale without being cheesy. This has the added intrigue of a secret identity and also LGBTQ+ representation. The illustrations are beautifully done and the coloring is fantastic.
Thank you to NetGalley and Clarkson Potter/Ten Speed Press | Ten Speed Graphic for access to the ARC in exchange for an honest review. Pub Date: 11/12/24
This was even more adorable and delightful than anticipated. It also has a beautiful through line about being allowed to be yourself that really resonated with me. Fantasy as a genre is at its best when it's telling us truths about reality.
Thank you to NetGalley and publishers for my arc of this graphic novel.
THIS WAS SO CUTE! You can't make me hate the giant, brooding (metal) man and lovely, feminine fairy girl trope <3 I feel like this volume did an excellent job of establishing all of the characters that will be recurring in this series, but I think it ends just a few scenes too early. That said, I think the action leading up to the ending will make the next volume very enticing to readers, myself included.
A thank you to Netgalley for providing me an Advanced Readers Copy for review.
A sweet and cozy romance between a fairy and an enchanted suit of armor, with a sweet and simplistic art style. This graphic novel is perfect for those looking for a low-stakes, soft-hearted romance with a slow overarching plot. Our main characters are gentle and kind and seem to grow a genuine respect for each other.
Unfortunately, I found the characters lacked any true depth. Their strengths and flaws felt surface-level, and the conflict built in the background felt forced and undeveloped. There are many moments throughout this first volume where the main character does something nonsensical and her excessive kindness excuses it or the author tries to build plot tension but instead makes the situation feel fake.
Not to mention our main character's sudden insta-love for, at this point in the story, what people have only described as being an inanimate object. Obviously, this will change down the line but our fmc's sudden insistence on personifying an object because of her feelings for it feels off.
I'd recommend this to those looking for something sweet and not too serious.

Collecting the first 17 episodes of the Webtoon, Suitor Armour (Vol. 1) follows the story of Lucia, who lives in a castle with her best friend, Lady Kirsi, and now helps her prepare for her upcoming wedding with King Reimund. While a war between humans and fairies takes place outside the castle walls, Lucia finds herself enthralled by a magical suit of armor brought to life for a royal tournament by the court mage. What follows is her adventures with various members residing within the castle walls, pushing her to reflect upon her own identity, but especially her little secret.
This webtoon reads quite effortlessly, remaining cute and approachable, without falling into too many narrative pitfalls. It invites readers to discover numerous characters who roam within the castle walls, to explore their distinctive personalities and motives, and to indulge in their lovely friendships and forbidden romance. The overarching narrative around the war between humans and fairies also adds a nice little layer of intrigue to this pleasant read. However, it is the questions around the protagonist’s identity and her little secret pertaining to fairies that promises fun twists to come.
The artwork is also adorable, with loads of expressive characters. Panels are often spaced-out with very few dialogues crowding the pages, allowing readers to focus on the sequence of events and the emotions that the author want everyone to grasp. A younger audience will inevitably find this simple to dive into and follow, but anyone else will develop a craving for details, both in terms of characterization and world-building. The concept art behind the suit of armour brought to life, however, is cool, and its own character development will surely help nuance his more intimidating look.
This edition also contains original behind-the-scenes content and a bonus storyline for fans to discover.
Suitor Armor (Vol. 1) is a cute young adult fantasy romance revisiting a fairy tale narrative with a focus on identity and self-discovery.
thank you netgalley for letting me read this! 4.5 ⭐️
The story leaves you wanting for more, and has tropes like found family, lgbt characters, enemies to lovers, etc. I adored purpah’s illustration, they are beautiful and absolutely magical! Lucia’s wings are gorgeous (as is she) and something about her and Modeus is giving if wall-e met iron giant. I’m so glad this is getting published, but I will definitely be continuing to read it on webtoon🤩
It was a cute, cozy graphic with fairy, magic and a whimsical setting . Aesthetically speaking I have nothing to say, drawing style is not my favorite but it fit perfectly with the vibe. It was a easy read and I feel like it is going to be a cute found family the more we get through the series My only real issues with it is the characters. Beside Lucia we don’t know much about others characters . Which make sense Lucia is our MC but even the drawing doesn’t give much about the characters . The good thing about graphic is that we can see characters story on them no need to interact with them . It could be because of the way they dress or their scars or tattoos but the characters in it looks flat . No scars, no specific dressing style , nothing. Just basic generic characters.
The best exemple of a flat character in it is the character of Kirsi She is the cliché of the dumb untitled princess , which she actually is, and do not seems to have thoughts of her own ? Modeus looks dangerous thus he is . The king said that the fairy were the bad guys thus they are . She have NO other thought in her brain beside her wedding with the king . Though, sometime we can see a few glimpses of her needing Lucia’s help because she sucks at talking to her soon-to-be spouse , which may mean that she only shows a part of her personality ; I guess she must be a bit sheltered because of her status but you’re suppose to be able to have an opinion. I wonder how she will react to Lucia’s real nature .
The bonus chapter about Peres past was interesting though. Beside the few interactions with Lucia and his job we did know much about him, so the bonus chapter was gladly welcomed . (Is it even a thing in English ?) I like when we have short bits of side characters history . And because of their life chose every characters are connected and present even in the flashback chapter and I liked seeing a younger version of them.
I am a big Webtoon comic lover, so anytime I see that one of them is getting a physical book I scream with absolute joy and know I need to get my hands on a copy!
Suitor Armor is new to me, but I was instantly interested in the fantasy/romance themes and the cover. I am a big romantasy reader in general, so seeing that this book would feature an enchanted suit of armor, fairies, a war, castles, and royalty, I immediately needed this story in my life. This volume includes episodes 1 through 17, so my review will be based on just those.
That cover screams opposites attract romance, perhaps with a side of dark romance, which I am all about! I am a romance reader first and foremost, so when you show me size difference, a helmet with horns, and juxtaposing FMC and MMC, my heart weeps to read it!! The cover is definitely a sign of things to come as the whole volume has incredibly beautiful artwork, a FMC who is empathetic and much more than she seems, a big baddie MMC who has a soft spot for the FMC, and so many secrets (romantic and other)!
I loved watching Modeus and Lucia spend time together, especially with him being her guard because it gives a protector vibe which is perfect for the aesthetic. Even better was when we watched Modeus learn how to do new things, showing that he may be more than a hunk of metal after all.
I love the backdrop of the war, especially knowing that our FMC, the royal Lady-in-waiting, is one of the fairies they are waging war against. I can’t wait to learn more about the intruder as I feel this will help our FMC to learn more about the fairies and where she comes from. I also can’t wait to see more of Sir Baynard and his squire Peres (I absolutely adore both of them!), Court Mage Norrix who invented Modeus (who I’m not sure I trust too much but I’m not sure why), and Lady Kirsi (who I feel will surprise us at least once).
I very much enjoyed this book and will definitely be checking out more episodes on Webtoons!!
Thank you to NetGalley, Clarkson Potter/Ten Speed Press, Ten Speed Graphic, and Purpah for the opportunity to read this book. The thoughts and opinions expressed above are honest and my own.
4.5 Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this work in exchange for an honest review.
Adorable and witty. Unlike most other graphic novels I’ve read; in terms of the webtoon art style and the cheeky personalities that shine through for the entirety each character is on page.
My only qualm was the ending! It felt like an appropriate place for the story to conclude… but there was no neat conclusion?! It sort of just felt like the characters walked off the page to continue talking and left me there without a “to be continued”, “the end” or anything of the like. That being said, I absolutely ✨adored✨ every other aspect. Can’t wait to run and get a physical copy when it releases!
I'm OBSESSED! Suitor Armor follows fairy Lucia as she gets to know an enchanted suit of armor during her time at court as a lady-in-waiting. The only problem - the humans hate fairies. I absolutely loved the illustrations, characters, and story. I was hooked from the first page and was genuinely disappointed when it ended. I cannot wait for future volumes!

review for season 1: "suitor of armour" is a captivating webtoon set in a fantastical world inhabited by fairies, elves, mages, and other mythical creatures. the narrative follows our female main character, lucia, who serves as the lady-in-waiting to the future queen and her bestfriend, kriski. as she assists in preparing for her upcoming wedding to king reimund, a war between humans and fairies rages outside the castle walls. so amidst this turmoil, lucia becomes enchanted by a magical suit of armor, modeus, brought to life by the court mage for a royal tournament.
the webtoon thoughtfully addresses themes of race and identity through faeries, elves and humans and their complicated relationship. the portrayal serves as a interesting commentary on racial issues and historical injustices and i loved how subtly but clearly the author addressed it. moreover, the incorporation of lgbtq+ themes was handled with sensitivity and care, adding layers of representation that were just lovely. i also really loved how lucia's family history was carefully and intricately woven into the narrative.
however, my one and only critique of the work is that the characters, while engaging, do not feel as fully developed as they could be. there is significant potential for deeper character exploration that remains untapped, which could enhance the overall narrative experience. i just hope we get to see more character exploration in the subsequent chapters.
all in all, it is a lovely webtoon and the art style is stunning, adding to the overall charm of the story. i highly recommend!
Thank you to Netgalley and Clarkson Potter/Ten Speed Press for a copy of this graphic novel in exchange for an honest review!
A 4.5 star graphic novel! Overall, I had fun reading it, but it read a little younger than I anticipated and I wish it was a bit darker.
Suitor Armor is a very cute story set in medieval times about hidden fairies, secret romances, magical metal knights and some light court politics. I really liked and found the artwork of this graphic novel very aesthetically pleasing and super colorful.
I enjoy our FMC's personality and adventure seeking tendencies, she's also sweet kind and very welcoming of the other characters. Overall, most of our characters were nice and sweet. Between the knights there were competitive moments, and between our FMC and her princess best friend most moments were caring and understanding. The characters in this story are light hearted and nothing about the story feels dark in Volume 1.
The story progressed relatively quickly, and the development of our FMC's life trajectory already took a significant turn in this story. The plot was easy to follow and also equally light hearted in most parts. The human world seems to be warring with the fairy world which tends to be the darkest part of the story. My curiosity for this series is if it will continue in its light hearted trajectory or add some darker story elements down the line.
I would highly recommend this for anyone who is looking for a sweet light-hearted start of a graphic novel series, with beautiful and colorful artwork!
ARC REVIEW! THANK YOU NETGALLEY! Suitor Armor is a captivating graphic novel that sweeps readers into a world of courtly intrigue, magic, and unexpected romance. The story follows Lucia, who finds herself dazzled by the royal tournament she attends with Lady Kirsi. Amidst the spectacle, a magically animated suit of armor, brought to life by the court mage Norrix, enters the fray and immediately captures Lucia’s attention. She names him Modeus, drawn to his dark, mysterious charm.
As outcasts within the kingdom, Lucia and Modeus form a bond that quickly grows into something more, with sparks flying both metaphorically and magically. The romance between them is as thrilling as it is unconventional, making for a truly engaging read.
However, Lucia is hiding a dangerous secret—she’s a fairy, the enemy of the kingdom. As she struggles with her identity and the fear of being exposed, the arrival of a winged visitor adds another layer of mystery and tension to the plot.
The graphics in Suitor Armor are stunning, perfectly capturing the emotions and atmosphere of the story. The visual style complements the narrative beautifully, making the characters and their world come to life in a vivid and memorable way.
Overall, Suitor Armor is a must-read for fans of fantasy and romance. The enchanting storyline, combined with the mesmerizing artwork, makes it a graphic novel that’s hard to put down. I fell in love with Modeus and the art, and I can’t wait for the next volume!
Suitor Armor is immediately engaging, and at first seems lighthearted, a medieval fantasy about Lucia, a fairy raised by humans to be the lady-in-waiting to the land’s future queen. But soon we realize that her fae nature has to be kept secret, that a long war is raging between fae & humans, and a superhuman knight made entirely of metal and magic (magic only allowed to be performed by the Court Mage) is the kingdom’s latest advancement in weaponry. Lucia and Modeus, the metal knight, have an instant connection, and as Lucia seems to be the first to see Modeus as a person, instead of an object, this sets off complications and alarm in the humans around them. But there’s more at play here than royal weddings and court romance, and soon both Lucia and readers realize how isolated the court is from the events happening outside palace walls. As complications build, villains, intrigue, and mysteries emerge, the more questions and worries begin to pile up for both Lucia and readers.
The art style is attractive—the characters are adorable and diverse in design & features (queer inclusive, too), with historically-inspired garb, clean linework, and clear, bright colors. The translation from a webcomic to graphic novel works well—the panels and storyline both flow clearly. This volume left me eager to see what will become of our seemingly star-crossed lovers (more than one couple fits this description), theorizing and excited to read Volume 2!
I received an e-ARC of Suitor Armor Vol 1 from NetGalley for review
Lucia is a fairy hiding among humans, ever since a nobleman rescued her when she was a child. No one but him knows her secret though, because the country is at war with fairies and everyone hates them. She’s the lady-in-waiting of Lady Kirsi, the nobleman’s daughter. They live in the king’s castle, as Kirsi is about to marry the king. The two have nothing in common though, as the king is only interested in hunting and tournaments.
In one such tournament, the court magician introduces his invention, an autonomous armour powered by magic. It wins, and bestows the winner’s rose on Lucia. She’s instantly fascinated by it and even gives it a name.
But the mage is interested in Lucia too, and even proposes she becomes his apprentice, as she shows aptitude for magic. Which she should, as she is a fairy. Her secret seems safe for now, but I’m sure it’ll come out sooner or later. Hopefully she has her armour suitor, and the friends she makes defending her when that happens.
This was an interesting start to a story, cozy fantasy with nice characters and even a gay romance on the side. The romance between a fairy and an armour seems odd, but I’m sure they’ll make it work. Art was beautiful and full colour, with large panels.

Series: Suitor Armor #1 Rating: 4 stars - It was really good
This volume has Chapters 1-17 of the webtoon comic. A bonus chapter featuring Baynard and Peres first meeting is also included.
This is a beautifully illustrated story about a lady-in-waiting and a magical suit of armor. Lucia was a sweet woman who is just trying to help Lady Kirsi prepare for her upcoming wedding. She is also hiding a huge secret from everyone that could lead to her death. Everything changes for her when she attends a tournament with Lady Kirsi and meets a magically animated suit of armor that was brought to life by the court mage, Norrix.
Lucia and Modeus’ story is just getting started in this volume. While this only gives us a hint at what might come between these two, I am already hooked and want to know more. I love how Lucia is so accepting of everyone and requires Norrix and others to treat Modeus as a person, not a thing. I also love how she is making friends with Baynard and Peres, and accepting them for who they are.
Overall, this was a great first volume for a series. I can't wait to see what will happen next with these two and with Lucia’s upcoming training, especially when Lucia is hiding such a dangerous secret.

The volume I of the Auitor Armor comic tells the story of Lucia, a young fairie rescued as a young child. She becomes the lady in waiting to the soon-to-be Queen Kirsi. Although she hides her identity, they become quick friends and face together the challenges of being ladies at court while the realm is at war with the evil fairies. At a royal tournement, Lucia instantly becomes attracted to the mysterious knight Modeus as she discovers new parts of herself and her people.
What I loved: This was a very quick and fun read! It was a great introduction to what seems like a great story that made me want to read more. The images are well done and beautiful. The story was original and kept me hooked all the way through. I loved the queer representation, I wish we’ll get more as the story goes on!
What I didn’t love: Although the story is easy to follow, I felt we sometimes went from one scene to the other quite abruptly. The flashbacks especially. It was a little juvenile, but it was a fun YA comic overall.
I would like to thank NetGalley for giving me a copy in exchange for an honest review.
I read this back when it was just a webtoon, and I loved it, but then I lost the link and couldn't remember the name. Well, I requested this one because it looked cute and lo and behold, it's the one I had started reading online!!
I love the dynamic between Lucia and Modeus. I can already tell there's going to be such a cute romance between the two of them in the future. The bonus chapter at the end was cute -- is shows a young Peres meeting Baynard, and I love their dynamic. The bonus art was also absolutely beautiful.
In fact, what drew me in was the art. I think it's beautiful and cute, and I love the way the magic is drawn.

Review:
This comic was so cute! I loved the characters and the world and the magic. Lucia is a kind and gentle fairy who has to hide who she truly is. She was brought into her friend Kirsi’s life by Kirsi’s father. She grows to be Kirsi’s lady-in-waiting as Kirsi is to marry the king. I loved their friendship and the banter in this book. This is only the first volume so I can’t wait for more of the story. I enjoyed meeting Modeus and the other characters and seeing their interactions. I thought the fairy stuff was interesting and I can’t wait to learn more about it and see Lucia learn more about herself. I also can’t wait to see more relationships and friendships grow. I can’t wait for more. This was a cute and entertaining story and I’m so invested.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This has so much potential!! I can't wait for the next volumes I saw *to be released in november 2024* and cried, but I will wait!
With that being said, the art is beautiful, the main character is a sweeetheart, . I have a bunch of questions about the story, the king took Lucia in and hates fairies? He didn't realize Lucia was a fairy when he first found her?? Or is it just a farse so no one finds out about Lucia?
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sending me an ebook copy.
I love a good graphic novel
This was a delightful start to a fantasy graphic novel series. The characters are intriguing and the diverse plot points seem promising. The weird love triangle that’s forming is a weird choice though. I’m hoping the author will do something interesting and different with that.
This was such a fun and cute read. I love the story line and the graphics were great. I like how Lucia is understanding of differences in people and magic things. I like all the characters and wanted to learn more about each of them.
I enjoyed reading this and hated when it came to an end. I can’t wait for the volume to come out. Also, the bonus chapter… I can’t wait to find out more about their past.
Thank you Netgalley for the eARC of this book for an honest review.

I'm so blown away that I got approved for an arc of one of my favorite webcomics, but also blown away that this series is finally getting the physical bind-ups that it deserves! I've been following this series since it first released on Webtoons and I found myself sucked in so easily to this story, this world, the on going war between the Fae and humans, the characters, just all of it. I love this series so much and there have been many scenes, many moments that have made my heart soft or had me sobbing. The connection between Lucia and Modeus is so good and I'm looking forward to seeing how their relationship will unfold. They both deserve the happiest of endings with one another. I also really enjoyed the prologue and the bonus story of Perse. I had always wondered how Perse became a squire and even though it was heartbreaking, that bonus story made me love his character so much more than I already did.
If I had to fault this graphic novel for anything, I'd probably say it feels too short. I think the author/creator could have added one or two more chapters to this first volume and it would tide readers over until the next volume comes out. I'll also say, if you're a reader who doesn't like insta-love in your books then you may want to skip this series. Modeus and Lucia have an instant connection/insta-love situation going on. While this wasn't a problem for me, I know for many readers that doesn't really work for them.
Overall, take my review as a grain of salt because I very much adore this series, with my whole chest, and probably won't stop recommending this series to friends/family. Again, I feel really blessed to have received an arc of this first volume and I'm eager to continue reading this series. I want all my favorite characters to get the happy endings they all deserve! If you'd like to read more of the series, you can find it over on Webtoons.
I received this book from Netgalley/the publisher in exchange of an honest review.
🥰 Lucia was such a sweet, wonderful, adorable, fun character. I loved reading how she came to live in the house and how she and the daughter of the man who saved her became such good friends. I did feel for her as she was an elf and had to hide her real self because humans weren’t too happy with elves. I hope that in the next book she is able to come out more as her real self. I also loved how she treated Modus from the start, before he was called Modus. Everyone else just saw a suit of armor, and she treated him better. 🥰 I loved Modus, and I loved seeing him grown more and more alive with each bit of the story. I loved that he was falling for Lucia, see him protect her, that rose scene was just SQUEE, and all the other things. I am curious how much more he will come alive in the next volumes. 🥰 While I am still a bit on the fence about the courtmage, I mean, he is very punchable, but he is also sexy, hot and I guess he doesn’t all have bad intentions. I do love how he tries to help out Lucia with magic and such when he notices that she has an affinity for it. Plus, well, some things happen and this is a solution I guess. 🥰 Knave! The adorable kitty that wanders the castle and is super adorable and cute. Also, such a fitting name for a castle kitty. 🥰 Kirsi x the prince/king. OMG, the tension between these two. They are meant to be married, from kids it has been arranged, so I was a bit worried if they would even match/have chemistry, but OH BOY, they do. I love how they are both shy, but both want to be together. This is certainly going to be a great marriage. 🥰 I love how Lucia provides some winggirl action between these two. Telling Kirsi to talk to the king/prince and for the king/prince to talk to Kirsi. Setting them up so they cannot avoid each other. Teehee. 🥰 Baynard and Peres??? HELLO??? I ship those two so MUCH. They are so adorable, sweet, and I love that they found a way to make this all work. 🥰 On that point, thank you so much to the writer for the bonus chapter! EEEEEEEPPPPP! 🥰 Loved the Behind the Scenes bit, always love it when books (especially graphic novels/manga) do this. Give us a glimpse in the concepts of the characters, more illustrations. 🥰 The underlying issues that the characters have. Kirsi has a wine problem. Baynard has an issue with confidence and when things go dark he retreats/gets angry. Lucia is of course hiding the fact she is an elf/fairy. 🥰 The art was so pretty, so dynamic, so fun. I would love to see this one as an animation!
🤔 While I could understand some of her motives, I wasn’t happy when Lucia put that pixie in a lamp. I get it girl, you want deets on elves, magic, and all the other things, but this is NOT the way.
All in all, I desperately need the second volume. This was one of my most anticipated reads of 2024 and BOY it delivered. This was sweet, romantic, magical, and more! Recommended!
