- DirectorJohn CarpenterStarsKurt RussellWilford BrimleyKeith DavidA research team in Antarctica is hunted by a shape-shifting alien that assumes the appearance of its victims.Although this was one of the best.. It was a shame that John Carpenter suffered humiliating box office disaster with this flick. If he had released another time, rather than going head to head with Steven Spielberg's E.T. The film would've made more money. Great specail effects from Albert Whitlock and Rob Bottin.. It was definately a classic.. Not too sure about the up-and-coming prequel release of The Thing. We'll have to wait and see..
- DirectorDario ArgentoStarsJessica HarperStefania CasiniFlavio BucciAn American newcomer to a prestigious German ballet academy comes to realize that the school is a front for something sinister amid a series of grisly murders.Dario Argento has produced, written and directed some of the most scariest horror movies. In Susperia, he really did the impossible. There were some scenes that really scared the living daylights out of me. With the music score from The Goblins that really blew my ears off. That goes into the my top ten. Still watch this movie on a rainy day or with the lights off.
- DirectorLucio FulciStarsTisa FarrowIan McCullochRichard JohnsonStrangers searching for a young woman's missing father arrive at a tropical island where a doctor desperately seeks the cause and cure of a recent epidemic of the undead.Lucio Fulci is another director who films also has scared us. This one Zombie: Flesh Eaters was one of them. Some gory moments which I won't write on here.. You'll have it see it, certainly put me off dinner. But then again, eat your food first and then see it. Brilliant film.. Another thumbs high..
- DirectorJoe DanteStarsDee WallacePatrick MacneeDennis DuganAfter a bizarre and near deadly encounter with a serial killer, a television newswoman is sent to a remote mountain resort whose residents may not be what they seem.Joe Dante's movie about the werewolves based on Gary Brandner's novel.. which, without a shadow of a doubt, was one of the first and best out of the Howling fanchise. When the second one came along, the whole series went downhill. I gotta hand it to you.. They should done more better than that. In this you got Dee Wallace Stone who played the lead. She was along with Patrick Macnee. Cool!
- DirectorLucio FulciStarsCatriona MacCollDavid WarbeckCinzia MonrealeA young woman inherits an old hotel in Louisiana where, following a series of supernatural "accidents", she learns that the building was built over one of the entrances to Hell.Another one of Lucio Fulci's masterpiece about a hotel which was built on top of the 'Seven Gates of Evil'. The late David Warbeck playing a doctor who gets caught up with a bunch of zombies trying to kill off the living. Also the book of Eibon which somehow holds the key to the truth of the terrible events which is going around the city. I enjoyed this one.. Yeah, there was some gory moments as well. Really cool stuff.
- DirectorSam RaimiStarsAlison LohmanJustin LongRuth LivierA loan officer who evicts an old woman from her home finds herself the recipient of a supernatural curse. Desperate, she turns to a seer to try and save her soul, while evil forces work to push her to a breaking point.Drag me to Hell was another film that scared me at some moments. It was truly well made by Sam Raimi who made the Evil Dead and the Spiderman franchise. In this flick we have Alison Lohman who plays Christine Brown, who's been cursed by an old gypsy after failing to negotiate another loan to complete her house. As time goes, our heroine has 3 days to break the curse in order to stop herself.. from going to hell. Very good flick!
- DirectorLucio FulciStarsChristopher GeorgeCatriona MacCollCarlo De MejoA reporter and a psychic race to close the Gates of Hell after the suicide of a clergyman caused them to open, allowing the dead to rise from their graves.Lucio Fulci's masterpiece again.. Sorry.. I think his movies are really good. In this one which was released as The Gates of Hell.. A priest commits suicide and somehow the gates are just days away from being opened, letting the zombies walk the earth. Yep. Even George Romero did that as well.. He's good at what he does.. Anyway.. this goes on there.. Cool flick!
- DirectorGeorge A. RomeroStarsMichelle MorganJoshua CloseShawn RobertsA group of young film students run into real-life zombies while filming a horror movie of their own.George a Romero's movie. He's done so many zombie movies.. I thought this one was really appealing. Obviously Romero is a genius at his work.. But hey.. who can forget when he did his first zombie movie..? At least he along with other directors, changed the course of the horror genre. So many zombie move are still made.. as long there's a good storyline and it's worth watching.. I'll be happy with that. But this one..? Great film!
- DirectorDario ArgentoStarsDavid HemmingsDaria NicolodiGabriele LaviaA jazz pianist and a wisecracking journalist are pulled into a complex web of mystery after the former witnesses the brutal murder of a psychic.Dario Argento's masterpiece. A horror kind of whodunnit. In this one David Hemmings plays a musician who finds himself caught up in the murder of a psyshic. As his investigation takes every twists and turns.. it seems there's more dead ends than anything as he tries to find out who the killer is? Wicked stuff. Some scenes did scare me.. but after all it was a great effort from Argento himself.
- DirectorAlexandre AjaStarsElisabeth ShueJerry O'ConnellRichard DreyfussAfter a sudden underwater tremor sets free scores of the prehistoric man-eating fish, an unlikely group of strangers must band together to stop themselves from becoming fish food for the area's new razor-toothed residents.Er.. I have no idea why this is on the top ten? But I have this on DVD.. and still watch it. I don't know.. Maybe it is a good film.. but if it's that good might as well put it in. A re-make of the old Piranha movie, this was like.. babes, bikinis and small fishes in the sea. Although there were some good extras in the DVD specail features, I still watch it and enjoyed it. I'm not bothered if there's going to be a sequel.. If so, it's gotta be good.
