Netflix releases a lot of miniseries every year, and a lot of them fail to justify why they needed to tell their stories in an episodic fashion instead of taking the feature film route. If we take a look at the streaming platform’s 2024 slate so far, Fool Me Once was absolutely atrocious. The Indrani Mukerjea Story seemed like an overlong PR stunt. Baby Reindeer was phenomenal, sure. Eric was so goddamn listless. Ic 814: The Kandahar Hijack seemed like a live-action version of the incident’s Wikipedia page. The Perfect Couple seemed so disinterested in its own story. And then there was The Last Night at Tremore Beach, which spent over 8 hours spinning some elaborate tale and then eventually revealed that maybe all of it had been a figment of its protagonist’s mind. Now, we have Bank Under Siege in our hands. Does it justify its miniseries tag?...

Ridley Scott’s ancient Rome would draw some inspiration from a mafia classic for a possible third “Gladiator” film.
Ahead of his highly-anticipated sequel “Gladiator II,” Scott told The Hollywood Reporter that he already has plans for a third franchise installment that would be inspired by Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Godfather: Part II.”
“Gladiator II,” which opens November 22 in theaters, is set 20 years after the events of the first 2000 film. Paul Mescal plays the son of Russell Crowe’s deceased character Maximus; Mescal’s Lucius is the grandson of Marcus Aurelius (Richard Harris). Joseph Quinn, Pedro Pascal, Connie Nielsen, and Denzel Washington also star star.
According to Scott, “Gladiator” fans won’t have to wait another 25 years for a follow-up as he is eyeing a third film after the upcoming buzzy sequel.
When asked if Scott would release his original longer cut of “Gladiator II,” he told THR, “Yeah,...

Val Kilmer has been a part of many iconic works over the years. Being immortalized in the world of Hollywood, he has played crucial roles in films like Top Gun, Tombstone, Batman Forever, and Willow. However, none have been as culturally significant for him as 1995’s Heat. The film had an excellent cast, with Robert De Niro and Al Pacino being right by his side.

With how iconic this film was, it is not surprising that it is getting a sequel, even though it is almost there decades later. Being directed by Michael Mann, there are a lot of expectations from the project. However, many are confused about Kilmer’s role in the project, considering his health.

Judy Greer, Sean Astin, Bryan Cranston and John Goodman have all signed on to star in the upcoming dark comedy feature Chili Finger, with first-timers Edd Benda and Stephen Helstad to co-direct. Helstad wrote the script and Goodman is an executive producer. Additional castmembers Sarah Herrman and Paul Stanko are currently attached, with production slated to begin next spring. The film is produced by Beyond the Porch and Gold Tree Studios.
Chili Finger tells the story of a recently empty-nested mother (Greer) who discovers a human finger in her bowl of fast-food chili. When she blackmails the restaurant for a cash payout, the situation spirals out of control and her life descends into chaos.
So far, Astin, Cranston and Goodman’s characters are being kept under wraps.
“We couldn’t ask for a better cast to bring our quirky dark comedy to the big screen,” said co-directors Benda and Helstad.

Tom Hanks has delivered countless hits in the industry in a diverse range of movies, but his new project is extremely different. Here explores the life of a couple, portrayed by the legendary pairing of Hanks and Robin Wright, throughout generations.
Robert Zemeckis is known for his innovative lens when it comes to filming and this movie is a classic example of that. The director aspires to deliver the moving storyline which starts from dinosaurs to man, in a documentary-like style. However, to truly commit to the concept the Cast Away actor had to forgo one cardinal rule he always adhered to during filming, not to look back.

Producers and distributors heading to Las Vegas for this year’s American Film Market, which runs Nov. 5-10, are betting big that indie action is primed for a comeback.
The AFM was built on action movies — the leading independent film bazaar launched in 1981 at the start of a decade defined by the cinematic stylings of Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, Steven Segal, Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme. But in recent markets, with the headline-grabbing success of breakouts like Neon’s Longlegs and Cineverse’s Terrifier 3, action has taken a backseat to horror.
There will be scares-a-plenty at AFM 2024, but many of the market’s buzziest projects sit squarely in the action space. Even a few that don’t star Liam Neeson, Gerard Butler, Jason Statham or Nic Cage. How buyers respond to this new generation of would-be action stars — Daisy Ridley, Amber Midthunder, Alan Ritchson — will determine who...

When she suspects that Lee Harvey Oswald did not act alone, she uses her fame and influence to find President John F. Kennedy’s real killer. Part murder mystery, part film noir, Kilgallen’s journey will put her up against the CIA, mafia bosses and the FBI, all who would love nothing more than to make her and this story disappear.

Brace yourselves for another film that touches upon the JFK files! Bryan Cranston, Al Pacino, Brendan Fraser, and Jessica Chastain will come together in Barry Levinson’s mystery thriller, Assassination. Exclusive: Jessica Chastain, Brendan Fraser and Bryan Cranston have joined Al Pacino in the mystery thriller Assassination. The film will be directed by Barry Levinson from a script by David Mamet, Levinson and Sam Bromell.
The film offers up a new take on the JFK conspiracy, centering around Kilgallen (Chastain), one of the most famous voices in media at the time.
“Dorothy Kilgallen was the first female crime reporter in America. She was the only woman to ever cover the JFK case. The only reporter to speak with Jack Ruby.

Production is now underway on writer/director Ted Evans’ debut thriller “Retreat,” starring Anne Zander, James Boyle and Sophie Stone, with Ace Mahbaz and Anna Seymore rounding out the cast.
The film, featuring an all-deaf principal cast (Evans is also deaf), is set in an isolated deaf community, where cracks begin to appear in Matt’s (Boyle) seemingly idyllic world when the arrival of enigmatic outsider Eva (Zander) forces him to question the realities of his identity. Is Matt prepared to discover what lies beneath the surface of his supposedly utopian community and the costs demanded to maintain it?
XYZ Films is handling worldwide sales on “Retreat” as a part of their New Visions slate of films, an initiative designed to spotlight the boldest new voices alongside established talent striking a new path in the international space. It will be introducing the film to buyers at the upcoming American Film Market.

Tom Cruise is the biggest movie star in Hollywood (Photo Credit – Facebook)
Tom Cruise is still Hollywood’s ultimate blockbuster machine, and at 61, he’s proving that age is just a number. Whether pulling off wild bike stunts in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning or going all-in on action sequences with zero safety net, Cruise reminds everyone why he’s the biggest movie star. In a world where CGI dominates, Cruise keeps it old school—willing to risk it all for the real deal. But getting here wasn’t always a smooth ride.
After a five-year break, Cruise came roaring back. Between Mission: Impossible – Fallout and Top Gun: Maverick, he faced personal drama and a few flops. Most stars would’ve disappeared into the background. Not Cruise. He returned with a bang, mingling with the aristocracy and preparing for his biggest hit to date at Cannes. In addition to exceeding forecasts,...

Johnny Depp and Penélope Cruz will reunite for Day Drinker, a thriller being developed for Lionsgate and directed by Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man). This will be Depp’s first major Hollywood movie since the scandal involving the fallout of his relationship with Amber Heard.
Day Drinker follows a cruise ship bartender who meets a mysterious day drinker, only for both of them to find themselves entangled in a criminal underbelly, and connected in unexpected ways. “Day Drinker combines a highly commercial concept with wildly outrageous twists and turns all set in an incredible world,” said Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, “and there is no better filmmaker than Marc or two more perfectly cast actors than Johnny and Penélope to bring that world to life.“

Al Pacino’s performance in “Heat” is legendary. And a big reason why it’s so beloved is how hyped up the character of Vincent Hanna was in every scene. It was almost like Pacino was acting in a different film than the rest of his scene partners because he had the energy dialed up to 11. Well, apparently there was a reason for that.
Speaking on a recent episode of the “Wtf Podcast,” Pacino talked about his new memoir, “Sonny Boy.” And while talking about it, he brought up a point that is in the memoir that no one realized until now—Vincent Hanna loved cocaine.

Lauded journalist, host, and moderator Josh Horowitz is a staple among the Hollywood circuit in part thanks to his popular podcast “Happy Sad Confused.” Horowitz, who began his career as a producer and talent booker, parlayed his expertise and ease with filmmakers into his own standalone podcast back in 2014. Its format pivoted during the pandemic to include a video component on YouTube (where he has amassed more than 111K subscribers), and once again took another shape as Horowitz began hosting live podcast recordings with a partnership at the 92nd St Y in New York City.
Horowitz has interviewed notoriously private, or rather, anti-podcast stars such as Warren Beatty, Al Pacino, and Vin Diesel, with Christian Bale, Cillian Murphy, Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet, and Henry Cavill appearing on multiple episodes. Johnny Depp’s plane was late coming into Rome, so he missed the Rome Film Festival press conference that was scheduled on Saturday to talk about the new film he directed, Modi: Three Days on the Wing of Madness. Depp was due to present the film that evening, pick up a prize and then fly out on Sunday morning.
The actor is considered a controversial figure in Hollywood after years of legal battles and a messy divorce from his ex-wife Amber Heard, which included allegations of domestic violence and his and Heard’s heavily publicized defamation trial. But Depp is in the midst of a career reboot of sorts in Europe, one that began at last year’s Cannes Film Fest with French director Maïwenn’s Jeanne du Barry, in which he starred as King Louis Xv.

For decades, the line, “Cause she’s got a Great Ass,” shouted by Al Pacino in Michael Mann’s crime classic “Heat” has entertained, but also befuddled viewers. Most have chalked it up to Pacino’s lively performance style or the fact that his character is trying to mess with Hank Azaria’s, but in Pacino’s recently published memoir, “Sonny Boy,” he shared that the real reason LAPD Lieutenant Vincent Hanna is so hyped up throughout the film is because he built his whole character around doing cocaine.
“A lot of people didn’t know that,” Pacino said in a recent interview on the “Wtf Podcast with Marc Maron” in which he discussed the memoir. “It took me 20 years before I could say anything about it.”
Though he was playing a character inspired by a real guy, Pacino developed his own version, making Hanna a recreational cocaine user and...

Your honor, I must confess — I have a mighty big soft spot for "The Devil's Advocate." The 1997 supernatural courtroom thriller stars Keanu Reeves as Kevin Lomax, a hotshot Florida lawyer (with the world's sketchiest Southern accent) who is recruited by a fiendish defense attorneys office in New York, run by the charismatic and slightly terrifying John Milton (Al Pacino). As he abandons his morals in order to win cases, Kevin's wife Mary Ann (Charlize Theron) starts having horrific visions with demonic influences. You see, Milton isn't just devilishly handsome and talented, he's also actually the devil himself.
"The Devil's Advocate" completely hinges on Pacino's performance, as he plays Milton with a kind of outlandish delight that only a rare few of our greatest actors could ever attempt. It's a little bit Tony Montana from "Scarface" when he's on copious amounts of coke and a little bit Lieutenant Hanna from "Heat,...

In Jack and Jill, Adam Sandler hilariously embraced the challenge of playing both twins who can’t stand each other. The comedy follows their chaotic antics as Jack desperately tries to convince Al Pacino, yes, the legendary actor himself is in the movie, (quite possibly the wirdiest detour he ever took) to star in an ad for him. The catch? Jack has to tolerate his sister Jill, because, surprise! Pacino has a crush on her!

Despite the film being one of the most roasted in his career, Sandler threw himself into both roles like a champ, especially when it came to the fabulously over-the-top Jill.
How Adam Sandler Prepared for Playing Jill
In his comedy career, Adam Sandler has truly done it all, even donning a dress and playing a woman, and let’s be honest, he did it with his whole heart and soul!

Johnny Depp‘s comeback movie ‘Jeanne Du Barry’ may not be among the most successful movies when it premiered last year, but his directorial comeback may well be. So far, it’s managed to secure the “Capri Cult Award 2024” for its portrayal of the Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani.
Johnny Depp’s ‘Modi’ To Be the Highlight of Rome Film Fest
‘Modi: Three Days On the Wings on Madness’ has secured a spot on the Rome Film Fest as the closer to the otherwise modest ten-day event. It will be aired on Saturday, Oct. 26, and you can bet fans can’t wait for the star to arrive.
He will likely be joined by stars Al Pacino, Riccardo Scamarcio and Antonia Desplat for the event. ‘Modi’ premiered at the San Sebastian Film Festival and follows Modi on a remarkable three-day journey that saw the intersection of art, passion, pride, sacrifice and love.

In the just-published Sonny Boy, the Hollywood legend documents his eventful life with glee and candour. Here are some of the more unexpected revelations
When Penguin bought the rights to Al Pacino’s memoir in 2022 for $5m, it raised questions about the true value of Hollywood celebrity autobiography at a time when most stars happily spill sanctioned life highlights for free on social media.
Yet it seems there remains a considerable premium on the value of stories from those actors who have kept themselves relatively private. Pacino’s book, Sonny Boy, published last week, is boasting healthy hardback sales – it entered the Bookseller’s top bestsellers list at No 9 – and a strikingly good trade in newspaper syndication.

Christopher Nolan has been attracting the eyes of critics throughout his entire career. Although it was working with a minuscule budget of $6,000 and only played in a few theaters in the United States, his 1998 debut feature "Following" was praised for its tight storytelling and terse psychological underpinnings. Nolan then rose to international fame with his 2000 film "Memento," a neo-noir about a man unable to form new memories. Its backward-chronological-order plot was cleverly conceived and impeccably laid out, somehow coming to a traditional narrative climax even while running in reverse.
From there it was off to the races, so to speak. Nolan became a power player in Hollywood, directing gigantic movie stars like Al Pacino and Robin Williams in a remake of "Insomnia" and making a gigantic, zeitgeist-shifting hit with 2005's "Batman Begins." Nolan's three Batman movies are still spoken of with enthusiasm to this day. Their success also allowed him...

Christopher Nolan is being linked with umpteen different films at the moment – perhaps it’s best if we rule some of them out.
Speculation has been rife in the last few weeks as to just what Oscar-winning director Christopher Nolan’s next film is going to be. Universal Pictures is distributing the film, and it has a 2026 release. But what on earth is it?
Is it a vampire movie? Is it a sort-of remake of Blue Thunder? Could it be an espionage film? With each day comes a different rumour, and with that in mind, we’ve decided to do something useful. Instead of speculating as to what Nolan’s new movie is, we’ve managed to 100% rule out some projects that he won’t be taking on.

Kieran Culkin is doing less homework than a more novice actor might when it comes to starring on Broadway in a production of David Mamet’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, “Glengarry Glen Ross.” In fact, until rehearsals start early next year, he’s not doing any homework at all to play broken Chicago realtor Richard Roma in “Leopoldstadt” director Patrick Marber’s adaptation.
“We start rehearsals in early February. I am trying to not — yeah, I am not digging in,” Culkin told IndieWire when asked about the play during a recent interview ahead of “A Real Pain.” “I’ve read [Mamet’s play] twice, and I’m not going to take a look at it until the day before rehearsal.”
Understandably, Culkin is quite busy on the awards circuit through at least February. He’s widely tipped for a Best Supporting Actor nomination for “A Real Pain,” with many, many awards ceremonies to come ahead of the Oscars.

A Tribute to Harrison Ford: One of America’s Most Beloved Actors Leading Star Wars and Indiana Jones
Harrison Ford has been well-known for his performances in his action-driven films such as playing Indiana Jones in the ‘Indiana Jones saga’ and Han Solo in the ‘Star Wars’ films. They have been two successful franchises that had given Harrison some other opportunities for other action roles. However, he also proved to be a wonderful actor by even starring in experimental sci-fi movies such as Ridley Scott’s 1982 sci-fi cult favorite ‘Blade Runner’ (1982). 1970s Harrison Ford was born on July 13th, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Ripon College in the state of Wisconsin. He also took some minor acting roles in film and TV. Despite the fact that he was trying to break into the entertainment industry, he was also a carpenter. Around the early 1970s, he landed a small part in George Lucas’ film ‘American Graffiti’ (1973). This was after the famous sci-fi director made his powerful debut film ‘Thx-1138,...

Gen Z is increasingly captivated by two of Hollywood’s brightest stars, Timothée Chalamet and Tom Holland (and of course Zendaya!) And rightly so! This duo not only leads in popularity among Gen Z but also possesses the potential to redefine Hollywood, and could be as iconic as the pairing of Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.

Especially if Hollywood capitalizes on this opportunity and does it right by reimagining classic films, more specifically classics like Heat. With their ability to tackle complex characters and deliver compelling performances, they could definitely breathe new life into the story while appealing to both nostalgic viewers and a new audience.

Of all the storied entertainers one award away from achieving Egot status — that is, a performer or creative who has won a competitive Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony — two near-winners are not like the others: South Park overlords Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
So how have the pair — famed for gags like “The Crack Baby Athletic Association,” the “HUMANCENTiPAD,” and of course, sending Lemmiwinks the gerbil on a trip up Mr. Slave’s ass — managed to go get closer to an Egot than Meryl Streep or Denzel Washington? Well, by making excellent television for more than two decades and taking a brief detour onto Broadway.
Winning their first Primetime Emmy Award for South Park in 2005, an achievement the duo have repeated four more times since, Stone and Parker became serious Egot contenders in 2011, when their musical, The Book of Mormon, made its Broadway debut.
