Vertical has picked up the North American and UK/Ireland distribution rights to the comedic thriller I Don’t Understand You, which stars Nick Kroll (Don’t Worry Darling), Andrew Rannells (A Simple Favor), Morgan Spector (The Gilded Age) and Amanda Seyfried (the Mamma Mia! franchise), and Deadline reports that the company is planning to give the film a theatrical release sometime in early 2025.
Actor David Joseph Craig wrote the screenplay with Brian Crano, and the duo directed the film together. While this marks Craig’s feature directorial debut, Crano has previously directed the 2017 Rebecca Hall / Dan Stevens comedy Permission and the 2011 Jason Ritter / Rebecca Hall comedy A Bag of Hammers. Somehow, Rebecca Hall appears to have missed out on I Don’t Understand You, but her husband, Morgan Spector, is in there.

Ryan Gosling has worn many faces over the years. Being one of the most recognized and respected actors in the film industry, his works have become ingrained into the very fabric of Hollywood ever since he starred in The Notebook. Since then he has been a part of blockbuster after blockbuster, proving time and time again that one actor can play as many iconic roles are they want.
Ryan Gosling was most recently seen in David Leitch’s The Fall Guy | Universal Pictures
While he has always been an extremely respected actor, in the past few years, this fame has sky-rocketed to an extent no one could have seen coming. Knowing this, let’s take a look back and see what made these films so special.

Series creator and showrunner Jez Scharf says that with Netflix’s Bodkin, he wanted to “make a dark comedy about what the reality of making a true crime podcast might be like.” Will Forte stars as the true crime podcaster who travels to a small Irish town and stirs up a hornet’s nest with his investigation.
“It’s fascinating and set in these beautiful locations that only Ireland can provide,” says Forte in the three-minute behind-the-scenes featurette. The new video also features Siobhán Cullen (“Dove”), Robyn Cara (“Emmy”), Chris Walley (“Sean O’Shea”), and David Wilmot (“Seamus”) interview clips.
“Bodkin is a dark comedic thriller about a motley crew of podcasters who set out to investigate the mysterious disappearance of three strangers in a quaint, coastal Irish town. But once they start pulling at threads, they discover a story much bigger and weirder than they could have ever imagined,” reads Netflix’s synopsis.

But once they start pulling at threads, they discover a story much bigger and weirder than they could have ever imagined.
As our heroes try to discern fact from fiction — about the case, about their colleagues, and, most painfully, themselves — the series challenges our perception of truth and exposes the stories we tell ourselves to justify our beliefs or validate our fears.

One of the most exciting "Star Wars" projects in the works -- as in, one that we know for sure will actually get released and not canceled then maybe uncanceled -- is "Star Wars: The Acolyte." For one, it is finally giving us a "Star Wars" title with not just two but a whole bunch of lightsaber users. The "Acolyte" trailer alone features an incredible shot of lightsabers igniting, echoing the all-time great "Star Wars" moment where Mace Windu declares, "This party's over."
That's because "The Acolyte" is set during the High Republic era of "Star Wars," a time of peace and prosperity for the galaxy and Jedi Order. During this period, the Jedi were more diverse, worked distinctly from the Old Republic, and served as actual diplomats (as opposed to being a corrupt and dying police force à la the prequel trilogy).
The trailer makes two things clear about the plot of "The Acolyte.

Luxury Swiss brand Tag Heuer seems to think it should, especially for its iconic motoring-inspired Carrera model, which celebrated its 60th with a glitzy cinema-focused event in central London on Thursday night.
Longtime Tag Heuer ambassadors Patrick Dempsey and Ryan Gosling were arguably the highest-profile attendees, both brought onstage by company boss Frédéric Arnault to discuss their relationship with the company (Dempsey said he first got involved with it nine years ago while racing at Le Mans). Arnault also welcomed Euphoria‘s Jacob Elordi and introduced Alexandra Daddario as its latest celebrity timepiece-wearer (alongside some new photos of her brandishing one of the latest Tag Heuer models). "This is why businesses slow down, neither of you know how to stick at one thing." Samuel Goldwyn Films has debuted a new US trailer for this indie dramedy from Australia titled June Again, made by filmmaker JJ Winlove. This already opened in Australia & New Zealand months ago, and is arriving in the US on VOD starting next January. During a fleeting bout of lucidity from her dementia, June Wilton has precious little time to bring together her estranged children, save the family business, and rekindle an old flame. When her meddling backfires, June sets out on a romantic journey of her own and discovers she needs help from the very people she was trying to rescue. Noni Hazlehurst stars as June. The cast also includes Claudia Karvan, Stephen Curry, Otis Dhanji, Nash Edgerton, Darren Gilshenan, Pip Miller, and Matilda Ridgeway. This looks like a good one. Here's the official...

Scott Ryan’s “Mr Inbetween,” which will premiere its third season on May 25 on FX, is ending with this upcoming season.
The half-hour series, created by, written and starring Scott Ryan and directed by Nash Edgerton, centers on Ryan’s Ray Shoesmith, a criminal for hire who collects debts, drugs and guns, and sometimes “takes care of people” in a permanent way as he juggles being a dad and taking care of an aging parent.
In the third season of “Mr Inbetween,” Ray will deal with the loss of Bruce, figure out how to care for his aging father Bill (Kenny Graham), and be faced with his daughter Brittany (Chika Yasumura) possibly discovering who he really is. Ray is now working freelance and feeling isolated after severing ties with former boss and confidant Freddy (Damon Herriman), but with business booming, a new connection with kingpin Rafael (Jeremy Sims) compounds Ray’s problems.

Australian drama “Mr Inbetween” will end with its upcoming third season on FX, the cable channel announced Thursday.
The half-hour series — created by, written and starring Scott Ryan and directed by Nash Edgerton — will premiere its nine-episode final season on May 25 at 10/9c, with the first two episodes airing back to back. One new episode will air each subsequent week.
“Mr Inbetween” stars Ray Shoesmith (Ryan) as someone who “takes care of people” — collecting debts, relieving them of drugs and guns and often taking care of them on a more permanent basis, per FX. Ray demands respect and does not tolerate others disregarding his very clear code of ethics. As Ray’s increasingly volatile work collides with his imploding personal life, he finds himself struggling to stay atop the complex web he has woven.

Starz’s Watergate drama “Gaslit” has added Dan Stevens to its cast, filling the role vacated by Armie Hammer earlier this year.
Based on Slate’s “Slow Burn” podcast, stars Sean Penn as Richard Nixon’s loyal attorney general, John Mitchell, and Julia Roberts as Mitchell’s Arkansan socialite wife, Martha. Starz has picked up the Watergate drama “Gaslit,” starring Julia Roberts and Sean Penn, the premium cable channel said Monday.
Penn is set to star as Richard Nixon’s loyal attorney general, John Mitchell, with Roberts playing Mitchell’s Arkansan socialite wife, Martha.

But Edgerton and his brother, Nash Edgerton, exited the series ahead of its pickup at Starz, as did Armie Hammer. An individual with knowledge tells TheWrap the three departed several months ago due to scheduling conflicts. Hammer and Joel Edgerton’s roles are being recast.

Exclusive: CAA has inked Australian filmmaker and the creator and star of FX’s Mr. Inbetween, Scott Ryan.
Ryan plays Ray Shoesmith on Mr. Inbetween, a guy who’s a dad, ex-husband, boyfriend, best friend — and hitman.
The series was based on Ryan’s mockumentary indie The Magician, which played the Melbourne Film Festival and was discovered by Nash Edgerton who is an EP and director on Mr. Inbetween. Ryan had originally shot The Magician as a feature, but had cut it down to 30 minutes. When Edgerton wanted to see more, Ryan handed him a copy of the entire film. With producer Michele Bennett’s help, the feature version of The Magician received a release, and soon after Ryan’s concept found its way to FX. The Magician was nominated for a Film Critics Circle of Australia Award.

Scott Ryan in ‘Mr Inbetween.’
In the heart-wrenching climactic scene of the last episode of Mr Inbetween, Scott Ryan’s Ray Shoesmith carried out the mercy killing of his brother then torched the house.
So what is next for the troubled hit man and single father as Ryan maps out the third season of the FX/Fox Showcase drama laced with dark humour?
Without spoilers, the show’s star, creator and writer tells If: “Season three will probably be more like season one in tone; it won’t be as dark as season two. But there will also be room for some pretty dark stuff.”
Justin Rosniak as Ray’s gormless best friend Gary will be even more prominent in the new season. Also returning are Chika Yasumura as his daughter Brittany and, he hopes, Damon Herriman as his boss, nightclub owner Freddy.
Ryan is still weighing up whether there...

‘Mr Inbetween’.
FX has renewed hitman comedy/drama Mr Inbetween for a third season, due to air locally on Foxtel’s Fox Showcase.
Created, written by and starring Scott Ryan, the Sydney-shot series follows charismatic yet volatile hitman Ray Shoesmith.
Ray “takes care of people” — collecting debts, relieving them of drugs and guns, and often taking care of them on a more permanent basis. Ray demands respect and does not tolerate it when someone disregards his very clear code of ethics.
Ryan won the Aacta Award for Best Lead Actor in a TV drama for his portrayal of Shoesmith last year. It’s a character he first introduced to the world via 2005 mockumentary The Magician.
Other members of the cast include Brooke Satchwell, Justin Rosniak, Chika Yasumura, Nicholas Cassim and Damon Herriman.
Both season one and two were directed by Nash Edgerton and produced by Michele Bennett for Jungle Entertainment,...

Contrary Mercenary: Hargrave’s Debut Holds Steady with Routinely Staged Action
There’s a rich, albeit somewhat underappreciated tradition of notable stuntmen who segue into the director’s chair, some who have managed to steer iconic classics, others who have formatted a serviceable career on bigger B-movies in recent years, like Ric Roman Waugh (Felon; Snitch; Angel Has Fallen), or even marched into art-house territory (Nash Edgerton with Spider or the broadly comedic Gringo). None have perhaps matched the franchise success of Chad Stahelski and David Leitch with their John Wick series.…...

There are few performers on a film set who deserve more respect and recognition then that of the stunt person. By extension and also super deserving —and the people often behind some terrific action sequences or your favorite action movies—are stunt/action directors/stuntmen like Scott Waugh, Nash Edgerton, and David Leitch who have made major leaps from stunt coordinators to feature-length filmmakers, proving the wide range of skill stunt-people possess. One of the most prolific and astounding of stunt coordinators is Sam Hargrave, who is responsible for coordinating the stunts and fights of the recent “Avengers” and “Captain America” films, “Thor: Ragnorak,” “Deadpool 2,” and the wildly-impressive “Atomic Blonde.” Remember when everyone was astounded by the fact that television directors like The Russo Brothers could stage such elaborate and visceral fights in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”?

Finding the next great horror movie within a classic Universal monster? Especially after the quick collapse of the Dark Universe, that wouldn’t have seemed incredibly likely, even just a year or so ago. However, in Blumhouse we trust. In the hands of filmmaker Leigh Whannell and producer Jason Blum, The Invisible Man manages to surprise in all of the best ways. Notably, Whannell not just makes this a timely tale about believing women, he employs one of the best actresses in the business with Elisabeth Moss. That choice alone goes a long way, but almost every single element here works far better than expected. In fact, this may well be the best film of the year so far. Without question, it’s in the top two or three, representing the next fright flick that should not only be a huge hit, but deserves awards attention as well. This film...

Joel Edgerton.
Thomas M Wright has cast Joel Edgerton and Sean Harris as the leads in The Unknown Man, a thriller inspired by a real-life Australian sting operation.
See-Saw Films and Anonymous Content will produce the film with funding from Screen Australia, London-based financier, producer and distributor Rocket Science and Stan.
Edgerton’s dance card is rapidly filling up with the announcement that he and Nash Edgerton will direct the TV series Gaslit, which will star Julia Roberts, Sean Penn and Armie Hammer.
Wright’s follow-up to Acute Misfortune, The Unknown Man will follow Edgerton’s Mark and Harris’ Henry, who strike up a friendship after meeting on a plane.
For Henry, who is worn down by a lifetime of physical labour and crime, Mark seems to be his saviour and ally.
What he doesn’t know is that Mark is an undercover cop who is determined to convict him...

Homecoming was not a blip.
Julia Roberts has already lined up her return to the small screen, and will re-team with Homecoming Ep Sam Esmail for Gaslit, based on Slate‘s Watergate-themed podcast Slow Burn.
Roberts will lead an all-star cast that also includes Sean Penn (The First), Armie Hammer (Call Me By Your Name), and Joel Edgerton (Loving).
Edgerton will also executive produce the series alongside his brother, Nash Edgerton.
Robbie Pickering (Mr. Robot) is attached as the showrunner and as an executive producer.
Gaslit is described as “a modern take on Watergate that focuses on the untold stories and forgotten characters of the scandal — from Nixon’s bumbling, opportunistic subordinates, to the deranged zealots aiding and abetting their crimes, to the tragic whistleblowers who would eventually bring the whole rotten enterprise crashing down.”
The potential series comes from Universal Content Productions, but it does not have a network attached.

Julia Roberts is reuniting with Mr Robot creator Sam Esmail on another podcast adaptation as she is attached to star, alongside Sean Penn, Armie Hammer and Joel Edgerton, in a remake of Slate’s Watergate audio series Slow Burn.
Roberts, who worked with Esmail on Amazon’s Homecoming, will play Martha Mitchell, wife of Richard Nixon’s Attorney General John Mitchell in Gaslit from Ucp.
The NBCUniversal Content Studios division is taking out the project to premium and streaming platforms with talent attached in a similar fashion to the way it did with Dr Death, featuring Jamie Dornan, Alec Baldwin and Christian Slater, Dirty John, with Connie Britton, who was in negotiations, and Homecoming with Roberts. All of the above projects are based on podcasts, an important source of IP to the studio.
