“Return to Silent Hill,” a horror film based on the classic Konami survival/horror video game series, is in development. The news was announced at the end of a livestream dedicated to announcing new titles in the franchise.
Christophe Gans, who directed 2006’s “Silent Hill,” based on the first game in the series, was confirmed to direct the film. He appeared in a video message during the livestream to discuss the project. In addition, Victor Hadida, who executive produced the 2006 film, will produce “Return.” Gans confirmed that the movie would adapt the second game in the franchise, which was announced to receive an upcoming remake for the Playstation 5 during the same livestream.
“The film tells a story of a young guy coming back to Silent Hill, where he has known a great love,” Gans said during the livestream. “And what he is going to find is a pure nightmare.”

Somehow, Sean Durkin made his breakthrough movie Martha Marcy May Marlene nearly a decade ago. Even harder to believe, sadly, is that it has taken him nine years to get a follow-up feature made. Well, at the very least, that wait is now over, as The Nest is out in release. A definite left-turn in some ways from his prior outing, it’s another acting showcase and slow burn that mixes drama and thriller elements. The psychology of his characters remains Durkin’s main concern, and that’s what makes this work so well. Well, that and a pair of terrific actors relishing the opportunity to lay into each other, of course. The film is a drama, set in the 1980s. On the surface, entrepreneur Rory O’Hara (Jude Law) and his wife Allison O’Hara (Carrie Coon) seem to have the perfect life. They have a daughter in Samantha (Oona Roche...

Producer Alison Owen says it is “crazy to say the internet is going to kill off movies”.Scroll down for full speech
Alison Owen, managing director of Ruby Film and Television, has used her keynote speech at the BFI London Film Festival to defend the art of movie storytelling and play down the threat of the internet.
Speaking at the Curzon Soho this afternoon, Owen said: “There’s many a Cassandra touting the death of the movie industry. But is that true?
“It is crazy to say the internet is going to kill off movies… The problem is not technology per se but the management of that technology – and the lack of a pervasive business model.”
Using YouTube clips such as “Charlie bit my finger”, Owen said such content was “incredibly simple” and that “people still want good stories”.
“As digital comes of age, there’s going to be more and more demand for content,” she said.

I don’t often offer my opinion on what a publisher should or should not do with their lineup of titles—that’s business, not storytelling. But when something like DC’s Dial H gets canceled, likely in favor of another ordinary superhero book, I feel the need to say something. Numbers are numbers, of course, and often speak louder than storytelling, but the fact is that Dial H #13 is a veritable masterpiece, able to be read by just about anyone regardless of their familiarity with the series, and a perfect example of science fiction weirdness brought to its emotional best. Its impending cancelation is embarrassing.

We have been waiting ever so patiently for news regarding the sequel to Christophe Gans' Silent Hill, which starred Radha Mitchell, Sean Bean, Laurie Holden, Deborah Kara Unger, Kim Coates and Tanya Allen. Finally, with Afm dawning, there's been some movement.
According to Bloody Disgusting Lionsgate International will begin pre-sales on Silent Hill 2, the sequel to the 2006 video game adaptation, at this week's big film dance.
Though we still don't have any specific details, we do know that Roger Avary and Samuel Hadida (respectively, the screenwriter and producer of the first film) of Davis Films have officially signed on for the sequel.
No word yet on if Radha Mitchell will be returning, but she did express some interest a while back.

While at Comic-Con we were able to catch up with Tom Sizemore who is promoting Indican Pictures' "The Grind." The actor who is known for roles in "Saving Private Ryan," "Heat" and "Strange Days," spoke 1-1 to Andrew Bunker of Movie Jungle about the film. Sizemore spoke about his role in the film and other projects he's excited about. One in particular that caught our attention was "An Evening with Donald Kapinski," which may or may not turn out being made. "The Grind" tells of a seedy grifter Luke (C. Thomas Howell) who hatches a crazy idea to pay off his debt to the Mexican Mob, naturally he involves his only two friends Courtney (Tanya Allen) and Josh (Twilight’s Michael Welch) as they borrow money from local loan shark Chuck (Tom Sizemore) to start a Hot All-Girl Website! To heat things up they hire (4) Hot Babes – Audacious Alex, Brooke the Brains,...

Some pretty huge news has been hiding in an interview with author Brett Easton Ellis for nearly a month now over at Chuck Palahniuk.net. During the chat about The Informers, interviewer "Dennis" asks Ellis if Roger Avary is still attached to direct Glamorama. His reply is shocking. "Hes going to be shooting Silent Hill 2. As far as 'Glamorama', its just very hard to get the money to make it." It's never mentioned again, but that's enough to get me excited. Roger Avary wrote the first Silent Hill, Pulp Fiction and directed the awesome Rules Of Attraction. This news couldn't be more exciting! Your thoughts? Where should they take the sequel if it ever gets off the ground? The first film was directed by Christophe Gan and stars Radha Mitchell, Sean Bean, Laurie Holden, Deborah Kara Unger, Kim Coates,Tanya Allen and Jodelle Ferland.
