After being discovered by Pamela Wedekind and Rudolf Noelte, he soon became a respected stage actor, playing at the most important theaters of the German speaking region.

Lives on a farm in Ambach, his place of birth, with his family (three children).

Chosen "Actor of the Year" by "Theater heute" magazine in 1985 and 1996.

Shared an apartment with director Herbert Achternbusch for a while, who often casted him and his sister Annamirl Bierbichler.
