The series is inspired by the lives and experiences of its creators Kyla Harris and Lee Getty.
Centring around a new relationship, an impending blended family and an intense female friendship, the series follows Freya (Kyla Harris) a 30-something Canadian artist and tetraplegic. Because of Freya’s disability, living together also includes personal assistants (PAs), who are always there – a third person in earshot for every romantic moment and domestic screaming match.
After failing to find the right person for this more than intimate role, Freya...

Crafting the perfect TV family can be tricky. Most thrive off dysfunction — everything from “Arrested Development” to its genre-bent counterpart “Succession” — while many focus instead on found family among friends, coworkers, or community. At least one on-air drama is about the perils of inbreeding and bad communication between loved ones, so we wouldn’t exactly call it a family show.
In classic sitcoms starting with “Leave it to Beaver,” there was the idea of the model family (passed down so overtly as to inspire a “Boy Meets World” episode literally called “Model Family” that explicitly sites the Cleavers). From “Family Ties” to “Full House” to “Sister Sister,” the nuclear family was the beating heart of a TV show, with a kind of wholesome chemistry and dynamic that sometimes feels lost now.
But like every TV genre, the family comedy is alive, thriving, and evolving — perhaps nowhere as brilliantly as Apple’s “Trying,...

Over 50 years of British sci-fi television, the genre went from one golden age to another. The 1970s gave us bleakly devastating visions of the future, the 1980s gave us space invasions and comedy, the 1990s blended crime drama with sci-fi, and the 2000s remade shows from the 1970s and gave us Christopher Eccleston as two kinds of god.
Then came the 2010s, the birth of transatlantic co-productions and streaming. British sci-fi television was no longer the cheaper, shoddier counterpart to its US equivalent. The production values were glossy, the cast reached A-list heights, and the writing was what you’d expect from the most recent golden age of television. The age of cheap and cheerful sitcom-adjacent British science fiction was over… almost.

The exec producer behind BBC comedy-drama We Might Regret This has said his ambition was for a show starring and written by a disabled performer to be “at the very top table of creativity.”
The Office and People Just Do Nothing producer Ash Atalla, whose Roughcut TV outfit is making We Might Regret This in association with Village Roadshow Television, said there has been a tendency for British broadcasters to “use the dry slopes of smaller budget shows or ancillary channels as training progams” when it comes to projects led by disabled people.
Penned by Kyla Harris and Lee Getty, We Might Regret This, on the other hand, is being positioned as a bigger-budget primetime offering for the UK’s national broadcaster, which its backers feel could be a potential awards winner.

“After the overwhelming response to the first two series, I’m delighted to be bringing back our lovable band of miscreants for more misadventures. It didn’t happen on the previous series, but I put that down to Covid,” said Stephen Merchant.

Apple TV+ today released the trailer for the third season of the heartwarming comedy series ‘Trying.’
After a dramatic end to season two, the third season picks up with Nikki (BAFTA nominee Esther Smith) and Jason (SAG Award-nominee Rafe Spall) waking up as new parents to two children they are still getting to know. Now they just have to keep hold of them, which proves to be trickier than they initially thought. Thrown straight into the parental deep-end, Nikki and Jason’s relationships with each other and with their nearest and dearest are tested as they desperately try to navigate the ups and downs of parenting — while hanging onto their kids, and their sanity.
In addition to Smith and Spall, the season three cast includes Eden Togwell (as ‘Princess’), Mickey McAnulty (as ‘Tyler’), Oliver Chris (as ‘Freddy’), Sian Brooke (as ‘Karen’), Darren Boyd (as ‘Scott’) and Robyn Cara (as ‘Jen...
