Esmée de la Bretonière (Amsterdam, April 12, 1973) is a Dutch actress who made her debut in 1992 at the age of eighteen alongside Monique van de Ven in the motion picture 'The Johnsons' by director Rudolf van den Berg. In the film epic 'Tropic of Emerald' (Gordel van Smaragd, 1997) she played one of the leading roles, alongside Pierre Bokma.
In addition to her acting work, she worked as a fashion model.
In 'The Delivery' (1999) by director Roel Reiné she played a gangster sweetheart. In 2018, she played the role of Barbara in the movie 'Men from Mars' (Mannen van Mars).
She is the daughter of the Amsterdam shoe and bag designer Fred de la Bretonière and studied in Antwerp (theatre training at the Royal Conservatory) and Amsterdam (Kleinkunstacademie).
She is also known for her roles in several TV series such as '12 Steden, 13 Ongelukken' (1991-1995), 'Baantjer' (1998-2000), 'Goudkust' (2000-2001), 'Costa'(2002), and 'Grijpstra & De Gier' (2006). Since November 27, 2009, Esmée played the role of Roswitha, the girlfriend of Mickey (Stephan Evenblij), in the drama series 'Voetbalvrouwen'. And in 2017, she played a guest role in the tv series 'The Spa' (De Spa).
