Suits is one of the best and most popular legal dramas that managed to make the profession of lawyer cool again. Created by Aaron Korsh, the USA Network series follows Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), who has a photographic memory and joins Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) at a prestigious law firm. The only problem with that is Mike didn’t actually go to law school and he doesn’t have a degree about which he has to lie to everyone. Suits ran for 9 brilliant seasons and ended its run in 2019. So, if you loved the witty banter, high stakes, and compelling characters in Suits here are some similar brilliant shows you should check out next.

Nick Offerman has been a bit of an Emmys bridesmaid so far, as the versatile actor has been nominated three times in his career but failed to turn any of them into cold, hard wins he can put on his shelf. This year, he earned his fourth nomination — and, surprisingly, his first one as an actor. He was nominated for Best Drama Guest Actor for HBO’s hugely successful video-game adaptation “The Last of Us.”
In the show, Offerman appears as Bill in episode three — “Long, Long Time.” Perhaps the most emotional episode of the entire series, Offerman is front and center of the drama and truly gets a chance to show off his acting chops. Bill lives a solitary life on his compound when the epidemic breaks out. But his uneasy quiet is disturbed when Murray Bartlett‘s Frank stumbles upon the land. Bill is reluctant to help the...

Murray Bartlett is having a very special moment. After winning his first Emmy last year, the actor has followed up that victory with not one but two nominations this year as he looks to continue his hot streak. One of those bids this year is for Best Movie/Limited Series Supporting Actor for “Welcome to Chippendales,” while his second comes for HBO’s drama “The Last of Us,” which amassed a whopping 25 Emmy bids. Specifically, Bartlett was nominated for Best Drama Guest Actor for his emotional role as Frank in episode three of the show.
That episode, titled “Long, Long Time,” was touted as one of the very best in the entire series and was certainly the most heartbreaking. The episode flashes back to Frank leaving Baltimore as the epidemic spread. Soon after, he stumbles across a protected compound belonging to Nick Offerman‘s Bill, who, at first, is reluctant...

In 1998, Christian Clemenson made a guest appearance on a single episode of the ABC legal drama “The Practice” as a church worker who plays an integral part in solving the murder of a teenage boy. Seven years later, he was cast as a different character on the spinoff series “Boston Legal,” which quickly became a recurring role. In 2006, his performance brought him an Emmy award for Best Drama Guest Actor.
Clemenson’s Jerry Espenson first showed up in the middle of the second season and was soon established as a mild foil for lead character Alan Shore (James Spader). The 48-year-old’s win for this season initially made him the seventh youngest victor in the history of his category, and he currently holds the 10th spot on that list.

"I hope you had as much fun as I did. Bon appetit." HBO Max has unveiled the first teaser trailer for their upcoming Julia series, premiering at the end of this month streaming for everyone to watch. Following up the fantastic documentary last year, also titled just Julia (which is out to watch at home), this series tells the life story of American chef Julia Child. It is also inspired her long-running, beloved TV series, "The French Chef," which pioneered the modern cooking show. The show stars Sarah Lancashire as Julia Child, with David Hyde Pierce as Paul Cushing Child, Brittany Bradford, Bebe Neuwirth, Isabella Rossellini, Robert Joy, Erin Neufer, James Cromwell, Adriane Lenox, Fran Kranz, + Christian Clemenson as James Beard. It's quite fun to see the return of Julia Child between the doc and this show, she's back in the world keeping us all inspired to cook more and more.

Who are the 5 Emmy winners that contended as both series regulars and guests for the same character?
In 1965, Don Knotts made history as the first actor to step away from an Emmy-winning sitcom role while the show was still running. After playing Barney Fife on the first five seasons of “The Andy Griffith Show” and collecting three supporting trophies, he moved on to a film career by signing a contract with Universal Studios. As the show continued for three more years, Knotts returned for five special appearances and ended up earning two additional Emmys. He was the first person to be nominated as a regular supporting player and guest star for the same role on the same series. In the 55 years since, he has been followed by two dozen others, including five more double winners.
Cloris Leachman emulated Knotts in 1975 when her fourth bid and second win for “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” came for what was deemed a single performance rather than a supporting one. She...

Written by Kit Lesser and directed by Amber Sealey (No Light and No Land Anywhere), No Man of God takes the horrifying true crime case of Ted Bundy and contorts the lens in order to look at Bundy’s relationship with FBI analyst and profiler Bill Hagenmaier during his final years as a death row inmate.
It’s an intriguing concept and one I was very excited to sit down and watch. Elijah Wood (The Lord of the Rings Trilogy) plays Hagenmaier and Bundy is played by Luke Kirby, whom I personally know from his run in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel as Lenny Bruce. The majority of this movie is a character play between two men, a conversation, a back and forth. Seeing Kirby and Wood act their socks off is a joyous thing,...

Real evil will always be a tantalizing go-to for storytellers, and in the case of notorious serial killer Ted Bundy, it’s meant at least nine at-bats across film and television for handsome, ambitious actors (from ‘80s-era heartthrob Mark Harmon to post-Disney Zac Efron) to twist looks, charisma and pathology into a portrait of chill, guy-next-door monstrosity.
Could Luke Kirby’s turn, as the death-row Bundy, be the best yet? Even if director Amber Sealey’s crisp, compelling indie docudrama “No Man of God” is the second Bundy film this year alone, not counting documentaries? Pardon the competitive shading to that question, but in the Hannibal Lecter era, screen madmen have mostly been muscle-flexing attempts at nerve-jangling one-upmanship, so it’s a comparison most films welcome.
And Bundy, convicted of murdering three women but certainly guilty of killing, raping and kidnapping countless more, has become a true-crime cottage industry, to...

Netflix’s “Mindhunter” is a fictionalized exploration of the FBI’s study of violent criminals during the 1970s and 1980s. It earned its sole Emmy nomination in 2018 for Cameron Britton‘s guest performance as Edmund Kemper, the real life murderer dubbed the Co-Ed Killer. It returned with another rogues gallery of sociopaths in season two, three of whom are on this year’s Emmy ballot for Best Drama Guest Actor. One of them is Damon Herriman, who has the benefit of having played the same killer twice last year.
Herriman shows up in episode five of “Mindhunter” as Charles Manson, whose cult was responsible for the horrific murder of actress Sharon Tate and four others in Tate’s Los Angeles home. He’s interviewed in prison by FBI investigators Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) years after he was jailed for his crimes. And it just so...

According to hundreds of Gold Derby users currently predicting the Creative Arts Emmys, Cameron Britton (“Mindhunter”) is the front-runner to win Best Drama Guest Actor for his role as real-life serial killer Ed Kemper. But on paper that might seem unlikely. “Mindhunter” got no other nominations, so can he really take down actors from Best Drama Series contenders like “This is Us” (Gerald McRaney and Ron Cephas Jones), “The Crown” (Matthew Goode) and “Westworld” (Jimmi Simpson)? To win under those circumstances is somewhat rare, but not unprecedented.
The Emmys introduced guest-acting categories in 1986, and since then eight people have won on their shows’ only nomination. It happened three times in Best Comedy Guest Actor: Cleavon Little, Tim Conway and Peter Scolari.
It happened three times in Best Drama Guest Actress: Viveca Landfors, Amanda Plummer and Cloris Leachman.

Cameron Britton gave a memorable performance in the Netflix drama series “Mindhunter” as real-life serial killer Ed Kemper. Now he’s an Emmy contender for Best Drama Guest Actor for his role. But will voters embrace him or be turned off by his sociopathic character? Oftentimes the television academy — and all awards voters for that matter — tend to reward roles that are sympathetic, but there’s good news for Britton: voters in this category pick killers more often than you might think.
In the last 20 years the academy has picked so many murderers for Best Drama Guest Actor that you’d think they were a parole board. In 1998 John Larroquette won the award for appearing on “The Practice” in the recurring role of Joey Heric, who manipulated the legal system to get away with cold-blooded murder. Then in 2001 Michael Emerson also won for “The Practice,” where he played William Hinks,...

The Emmys are unique among award shows in that nominees have to submit sample episodes to a panel of judges in order to win their prizes. And history has shown that the system works. Lesser known character actors like Zeljko Ivanek ("Damages"), Christian Clemenson ("Boston Legal") and Margo Martindale ("Justified") can thwart A-list rivals because voters actually have to watch their performances. -Break- If 'Game of Thrones' and Jon Hamm don't win Emmys, our forum posters Quit! But nominations are still determined by a popular vote, so just getting a foot in the door is often the hardest part for stellar performers. I've been humming and hawwing about how to approach the next couple of episodes for the third series of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. The issue that I sometimes encounter is that although some episodes aren't advertised as two or even three part stories, they still can be viewed as such. Bad Girls and Consequences are two such episodes that form a loose two-parter, and since they revolve around the same plot points and themes, I guessed it would make more sense to tackle these as one big review rather than two in which I repeat myself a lot.
Mind you, I've noticed that I've repeated myself in the past more times than I care to remember. How many times have I mentioned Dragon's Den or The Apprentice, for example?
Anyway, back to Buffyland. Bad Girls/Consequences marks the turning point of the third season with regards to the ongoing season arc.

Word has come today that Joe Johnston's Not Safe for Work is going to be headed straight to video come this April. Read on for details and of course the artwork, which incidentally is completely safe for work.
Look for it in stores on April 15th.
For the film Johnston reteamed with his Captain America star Jj Feild (Neil Marshall's Centurion) along with Tom Gallop (The Bourne Identity) and Emmy winner Christian Clemenson ("CSI: Miami"). Max Minghella (The Social Network) stars as the cunning protagonist, while Eloise Mumford (ABC's "The River") plays his girlfriend, who works at the same office along with Clemenson.
Horror favorites Adam Mason and Simon Boyes (Blood River, The Devil's Chair) wrote the script, which follows an unsuspecting office worker, Tom Miller (Max Minghella), who becomes trapped in his office building with a demented killer (Jj Feild). As Tom rushes to protect those employees working late,...

Whether or not we’ll see vote-splitting hurt the chances of The Good Wife‘s Nathan Lane and Michael J. Fox, as well as Mad Men‘s Robert Morse and Harry Hamlin, remains to be seen, but that’s probably what their competitors — Homeland‘s Rupert Friend and Scandal‘s Dan Bucatinsky — would like to see.

Watching Diane Kruger dive head-first into the awkward, by-the-books Texas detective she portrays on FX’s The Bridge on Wednesday night, I suspected I was witnessing the last of a kind. For reasons I’ll explain shortly, we have entered the post-Asperger’s era of television, and the intense Sonya Cross may well be the final character with that condition who'll get grandfathered into the new age. Because Asperger’s, a developmental disorder that falls on the autism spectum, came out on television quietly, it’s hard to say for certain when the condition made its prime-time debut. But I do know when I first took notice of a character with the disorder: in December 2005, when Boston Legal introduced us to Jerry Espenson, the quirky, socially awkward attorney played by Christian Clemenson. Many viewers noted that, as depictions of what it's like to live with Asperger's, Jerry and the brilliant...

Yesterday we told you that Joe Johnston's Not Safe for Work was going to be headed straight to video. The news came from an interview the La Times did with producer Jason Blum that made things sound kind of grim. Apparently that's not the case at all.
The original comment was as follows: "Some of my movies work, and some of them don't," Blum said. "I want to be able to say to the studio, 'We missed; let's go to VOD.'"
Bloody Disgusting got in touch with Blum, who clarified his remarks. He wasn’t addressing the quality of any film in particular, just whether one of his movies would work as a wide release. Moreover, in the above quote he was talking about his model and preference of options rather than directly addressing any specific movie or the quality of the film. And, for the record, he “thinks it's great.

One of the best superhero flicks last summer was Joe Johnston's Captain America. And while Chris Evans's Steve Rogers is busy going big in Joss Whedon's Avengers, Johnston decided to take the opposite approach with his next project. The director's followup to the First Avenger will be a small actioner called Not Safe For Work and he just recruited one of his Howling Commandos, J.J. Feild, to join the film. Variety reports that Feild as well as Christian Clemenson and Tom Gallop were cast in Johnston's Not Safe For Work. And before anyone plays Mr./Mrs. Smart, I'm aware that Feild's character, James Montgomery Falsworth, is the original Union Jack and technically part of the Invaders but he was lumped into the Commandos for Johnston's adaptation of Captain America. And if you missed the comic book flick, you may have seen the actor with Michael Fassbender in...

It’s Valentine’s Day and, for many, that means date night. In this economy, however, a night on the town can be prohibitive. What’s a TV lover to do? Perhaps this is an acceptable alternative? A quiet night in, with a nice, homemade dinner, a few drinks, and a few hours with the perfect show. Here are 10 picks for great date night viewing.

His psychiatrist Claire (Paula Marshall) disagrees, seeing only a broken, if fun, man lost in his delusion. Piven and Marshall have great chemistry, there are interesting guest characters each week, and...
