Carla Christina Contreras is an American Actress born in sunny Southern California under the cozy spotlight of tinsel town to Armando Contreras (entertainment Grip) and Diana Contreras (professional singer) in Torrance California, Carla Christina started her professional acting career at the ripe age of three selling Barbie Dolls and Tootsie Rolls; from eleven to sixteen she regularly worked on the TV series, 'The Waltons'.
Leaving the business to finish her formal education and after receiving a degree in business, Carla Christina ventured back to Hollywood to train at The Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute where she discovered her singing voice. She also studied acting intensively with Groundlings Founder Gary Austin, and further study with Kathrine Daley, Scott Arthur Allen, Bob Corff and Seth Riggs.
Upon an invitation to visit Nashville's Music Row, Carla Christina fell in love with Tennessee and decided to stay in 1992 to pursue music and experience a quality of life she couldn't find in Los Angeles. After living in Tennessee for a year, Carla Christina Co-Founded the Actors Alliance for the Nashville Film & Video Association, and has been a constant force in helping to build the film community we see today in Nashville.
A 28-year member of the Board of Directors and Vice President of the SAG-AFTRA Nashville Local. Carla Christina has been an active member of FilmNashville / Women in Film & TV Nashville / TN Women in Film & Media and Actor-Com, she continues to help other creative artists grow and prosper in the mid-west region. She is working on a Live Action Animated Musical web series 'Incognita's Infamous Adventures', a handful of indie projects, producing her first short film, has developed a situation comedy for network TV (being pitched), and in development for a limited series.
Carla Christina is married to Timothy E. Rumsey, with their two furry daughters Dolly (a Scottish Terrier) and Willie (a Black Cat rescue).
Carla Christina is also a world-renowned visual artist; her fine art works can be seen in various permanent collections as well as private collections around the world. She is also the author of the children's book Clint the Black Cat®, and is working on another literary work based on a shattering life experience.
