The critically acclaimed Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man revitalized the classic tale of H.G. Wells into a modern adaptation. The film follows a scientist who fakes his death to stalk his ex-girlfriend using his newfound invisibility technology. Unlike earlier attempts to resurrect Universal’s classic monsters, The Invisible Man has effectively used Blumhouse’s influence. Although Universal continues to announce plans for films based on its iconic monsters, Whannell’s version of The Invisible Man stands out for successfully adapting these legendary stories.
As The Invisible Man’s open ending hints at future possibilities, fans wonder if The Invisible Man 2 will happen. While it remains unconfirmed, here’s everything we know about it.

Kemp Powers is adding serious star power to his upcoming feature film Lunik Heist, which will star Jared Leto, Lupita Nyong’o, and John Mulaney. Powers directs Lunik Heist from his own script based on actual events. The story orbits around the American government’s plot to steal a Soviet spacecraft during a 1959 exposition in Mexico City. Jeff Maysh’s MIT Technology Review article inspires the screenplay, with Maysh executive producing. In addition to his starring role, Jared Leto produces alongside Emma Ludbrook via the duo’s Paradox studio with Mark Johnson for Gran Via Productions.

November brings both the familiar and the new to screens big and small. A favorite novel gets a new adaptation. A bestselling detective series gets a TV series. A popular movie gets a spinoff in Gladiator II, and a beloved musical finally gets the theatrical treatment fans have waited years for in Wicked. But the month is also set to bring a sure-to-be twisty adaptation of an acclaimed novel and more.

Amazon Prime Video’s new crime drama “Cross” aims to provide a more well-rounded portrayal of detective Alex Cross when it premieres in November. The show stars Aldis Hodge as the titular character featured in James Patterson’s popular book series. This marks the third time the detective has been brought to screens after earlier movies starring Morgan Freeman and Tyler Perry.
In an interview at New York Comic-Con, Hodge said the TV format allows for a more nuanced exploration of Cross. Viewers will get to see different sides of the character, including him as a father, family man and friend – not just a cop. Hodge wants to show Cross as a “full-scale being” who is thoughtful but also makes mistakes sometimes. This approach could offer more depth than the movies according to Hodge.
With its episodic structure, the TV series will adapt more of Patterson’s 32 Alex Cross novels and novellas.

Aldis Hodge’s Detective Alex Cross tricks a ruthless serial killer into a confession in the first look for Prime Video’s Cross crime thriller, which was promoted at New York Comic Con on Friday.
The season one clip features Cross grilling a murder suspect played by Jeremy Walmsley who insists he won’t confess, even though the detective reveals he already did.
“’Life’s fitful fever.’ Yeah, I caught that. It’s Macbeth, right?” Cross, who uses forensic psychology to solve crimes, tells the cornered suspect named Dick Miller. “Well, good luck getting a conviction with that,” the suspect tells Cross as his superiors and the District Attorney on the other side of the interrogation room one-way glass suddenly beam over another case solved.

James Patterson‘s most popular fictional figure is getting another screen adaptation in Cross, and from the looks of the first trailer, this Amazon Prime Video original is going to be a doozy. The streamer also renewed the series for a second season. Cross stars Aldis Hodge as the titular detective — a character previously portrayed by Morgan Freeman in Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider and Tyler Perry in 2012’s Alex Cross and featured in dozens of other non-adapted novels. In the first clip for the series (embedded above), revealed on Friday (October 18), Alex Cross interrogates someone who thinks they’ve got the upper hand and even deigns to call him “boy.” However, he soon learns that Cross catches onto things that even his most respected detective peers did not. In a first-look video of “Cross” for Amazon’s Prime Video, star Aldis Hodge’s hero Alex Cross secures a murder suspect’s confession with an assist from William Shakespeare — specifically, the Bard’s famous tragedy, “Macbeth.”
The clip opens with Alex staring detainee Ed Ramsey (Ryan Eggold) in the face after a tense exchange in the interrogation room. “You thought you were special,” Alex says to Ed, who is glaring back at Alex with steel in his eye.
“You’re not in my head, boy. And you’re not getting a confession,” Ed says with an arrogant smirk. But what he doesn’t know is that he’s already given Alex all the information he needs.
“Oh, I’m definitely living rent free,” Alex responds. “And you already confessed. I’m just amusing myself right now.”

Vanessa is a woman coping with immense grief. A year has passed since losing her young son in a tragic accident, but the pain of his absence remains an open wound. Seeking respite from her anguish, Vanessa travels with her husband Alex and his brother Martel to a remote lakeside home nestled deep in the woods. What was hoped to be an escape becomes something more mysterious.

But it approaches this heady concept in a much different manner than blockbuster multiverse adventures packed with flash and spectacle. With only a small cast including Danielle Deadwyler, Aldis Hodge, and Edwin Hodge, the film becomes an intensely intimate character study.

Marvel Studios is no stranger to A-list stars. The franchise reenergised Robert Downey Jr.'s career and he has become one of the biggest names in Hollywood history since. It has also launched the careers of A-list stars like Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston. But the Kevin Feige-led company has also worked with veteran A-listers, including Samuel L. James Patterson’s Alex Cross book series is heading to the screen once again, and here’s the trailer for Cross.
Thus far, James Patterson’s Alex Cross action thriller novels have only been seen on the big screen. Morgan Freeman first took on the role of the detective for 1997’s Kiss the Girls, directed by Gary Fleder, and 2001’s Along Came A Spider, directed by Lee Tamahori. Both were well received and feature strong casts, including Ashley Judd, Carey Elwes and Michael Wincott.
A reboot landed in 2012, directed by Rob Cohen and starring Tyler Perry. However, Alex Cross was a critical and commercial failure, and plans for a sequel were dropped.
That brings us to Cross, a television series coming to Amazon Prime Video which follows Reacher's template of using the protagonist’s surname as the title.
The synopsis reads as follows:

Despite being the subject of 34 bestselling crime novels from author James Patterson, fictional Washington Metro Pd detective and Psychology PhD holder Alex Cross has yet to get a really good screen adaptation. Morgan Freeman starring 90s twofer Kiss The Girls and Along Came A Spider were decent enough, whilst the less said about Tyler Perry's 2012 effort probably the better. However, all that looks set to change with Prime Video's upcoming series Cross. Written and created by Hand Of God producer Ben Watkins, this new series stars Aldis Hodge (Black Adam) as Cross, the star detective who deploys his prodigious talent for forensic psychology to catch killers. Check out the first trailer below:
A fetishistic killer. Intensely personal stakes. Mind games upon mind games upon mind games. Is anybody else getting some serious American Luther vibes from this, or is it just us? Either way, there's plenty here to get hyped about.

Green Lantern has had a rough history on film. In 2011, Warner Bros. bet on the hero being their Iron Man; a B-lister underdog who could kick off a blockbuster franchise. "Green Lantern" starring Ryan Reynolds did not fly high so the character was almost completely absent from the DC Extended Universe. (None of the major Green Lanterns show up in either cut of "Justice League.")
Now, James Gunn and Peter Safran's DC Studios is again looking to make the Green Lantern Corps an early fixture of their DC Films. Nathan Fillion is playing Guy Gardner in 2025's "Superman" and a "Lanterns" TV series is currently in development at HBO. A "True Detective" style murder mystery, "Lanterns" will star the two most famous comic Green Lanterns: Hal Jordan and John Stewart (not the one from "The Daily Show").
Kyle Chandler has recently been cast as Hal Jordan, so what about John?...

A fiendish serial killer is compiling a “masterpiece” in the new trailer for Prime Video’s Cross — and Aldis Hodge’s titular crimesolver is determined to stop him.
In Cross, which is based on characters from the James Patterson novels and is shepherded by Burn Notice vet Ben Watkins, Hodge (Leverage) plays Alex Cross, who is uniquely capable of digging into the psyches of killers and their victims, in order to identify — and ultimately capture — the murderers. Alex is “brilliant, flawed, and full of contradictions,” per the streamer. “A doting father and family man single-minded to the point of obsession when he hunts killers.

Aldis Hodge as detective Alex Cross pursues a ruthless serial killer in the official trailer for Cross, the crime series for Prime Video debuting Nov. 14.
Hodge plays Metro Pd’s star detective who uses forensic psychology to get into the minds of killers and their victims to identify and ultimately capture murderers. Update: Josh Brolin won’t play a space cop for DC Studios’ Lanterns series after passing on the opportunity to play the brash, cloud-slicing maverick Hal Jordan for the forthcoming HBO series. According to multiple sources, DC Studios offered Brolin the part in late August, but this past weekend, the No Country for Old Men and Avengers: Endgame actor declined. The studio gave no further details.
Did Brolin strike anyone else as an odd choice for Hal Jordan? Don’t get it twisted, I love me some Brolin, but isn’t he a little too rugged to play one of DC’s flagship Lanterns? I still think the show should center on John Stewart, but no one’s asking me. Regardless, the hunt is back for an actor to star as Hal Jordan in DC Studios’ Lanterns. Who should play Jordan now that Brolin is out of the picture? Have they cast Jessica Cruz yet?...

Over the span of 31 years’ worth of James Patterson‘s Alex Cross book series, starting with 1993’s Along Came a Spider, the novels have gotten three mediocre movie adaptations, starring Morgan Freeman twice and later Tyler Perry. Now Prime Video will be streaming their version, a new fast-paced and intense series about the talented cop, and Patterson, an executive producer on Cross, is very pleased with the result. So much so, that a second season has almost finished shooting in Toronto. Aldis Hodge plays the compassionate and driven title character who is not only a decorated detective but also a brilliant forensic psychologist. Exclusive: Amanda Brooks (Super Pumped) has been in a recurring role on the Showtime series Dexter: Original Sin. Production is underway in Los Angeles with Clyde Phillips at the helm.
Brooks will portray Becca Spencer, Captain Aaron Spencer’s (Patrick Dempsey) ex-wife who shares custody of their son, Nicky. Aaron Spencer is the Captain of the Miami Metro Homicide Department who has a decades-long relationship with Harry Morgan (Christian Slater).
The 10-episode original drama series is set in 1991 Miami and follows Dexter (Patrick Gibson), a student refining his killer skills with the help and support of his adoptive father Harry. In his dad, he finds solace and understanding, especially as his bloodthirsty urges grow and can no longer be ignored.
As his only confidant, Harry teaches Dexter a code that’s designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to die — all while avoiding getting caught by law enforcement.

Fans of Leverage: Redemption are hoping to hear more about Season 3. Here's an update on when the show will return!
Leverage was a great hit for TNT when it debuted in 2008. The plotline was Nate Ford (Timothy Hutton), a former insurance fraud investigator, bands with a pack of crooks: grifter Sophie (Gina Bellman), thief Parker (Beth Reisgraf), "hitter" Eliot (Christian Kane) and hacker Hardison (Aldis Hodge). The group pulls con games and thefts to bring down the rich and corrupt and give the proceeds to the victims of such crooks.
The show ran five seasons, ending in 2012. In 2021, Freevee revived it as Leverage: Redemption. The plotline was Nate had died and the rest of the team reunited with Noah Wyle as Harry, a former corporate lawyer who had seen the light to help them out. Hodge's movie career meant Hardison was mostly absent with Aleyse Shannon joining as new hacker Brenna.
