Kemp Powers is adding serious star power to his upcoming feature film Lunik Heist, which will star Jared Leto, Lupita Nyong’o, and John Mulaney. Powers directs Lunik Heist from his own script based on actual events. The story orbits around the American government’s plot to steal a Soviet spacecraft during a 1959 exposition in Mexico City. Jeff Maysh’s MIT Technology Review article inspires the screenplay, with Maysh executive producing. Amazon Prime Video’s new crime drama “Cross” aims to provide a more well-rounded portrayal of detective Alex Cross when it premieres in November. The show stars Aldis Hodge as the titular character featured in James Patterson’s popular book series. This marks the third time the detective has been brought to screens after earlier movies starring Morgan Freeman and Tyler Perry.

In an interview at New York Comic-Con, Hodge said the TV format allows for a more nuanced exploration of Cross. Viewers will get to see different sides of the character, including him as a father, family man and friend – not just a cop. Hodge wants to show Cross as a “full-scale being” who is thoughtful but also makes mistakes sometimes. This approach could offer more depth than the movies according to Hodge.

With its episodic structure, the TV series will adapt more of Patterson’s 32 Alex Cross novels and novellas.

In a first-look video of “Cross” for Amazon’s Prime Video, star Aldis Hodge’s hero Alex Cross secures a murder suspect’s confession with an assist from William Shakespeare — specifically, the Bard’s famous tragedy, “Macbeth.”

The clip opens with Alex staring detainee Ed Ramsey (Ryan Eggold) in the face after a tense exchange in the interrogation room. “You thought you were special,” Alex says to Ed, who is glaring back at Alex with steel in his eye.

“You’re not in my head, boy. And you’re not getting a confession,” Ed says with an arrogant smirk. But what he doesn’t know is that he’s already given Alex all the information he needs.

Pierre will star opposite Kyle Chandler, who will play Hal Jordan in the DC adaptation. The series follows new recruit Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.

Thus far, James Patterson’s Alex Cross action thriller novels have only been seen on the big screen. Morgan Freeman first took on the role of the detective for 1997’s Kiss the Girls, directed by Gary Fleder, and 2001’s Along Came A Spider, directed by Lee Tamahori. Both were well received and feature strong casts, including Ashley Judd, Carey Elwes and Michael Wincott.

A reboot landed in 2012, directed by Rob Cohen and starring Tyler Perry. However, Alex Cross was a critical and commercial failure, and plans for a sequel were dropped.

That brings us to Cross, a television series coming to Amazon Prime Video which follows Reacher's template of using the protagonist’s surname as the title.

Green Lantern has had a rough history on film. In 2011, Warner Bros. bet on the hero being their Iron Man; a B-lister underdog who could kick off a blockbuster franchise. "Green Lantern" starring Ryan Reynolds did not fly high so the character was almost completely absent from the DC Extended Universe. (None of the major Green Lanterns show up in either cut of "Justice League.")

Now, James Gunn and Peter Safran's DC Studios is again looking to make the Green Lantern Corps an early fixture of their DC Films. Nathan Fillion is playing Guy Gardner in 2025's "Superman" and a "Lanterns" TV series is currently in development at HBO. A "True Detective" style murder mystery, "Lanterns" will star the two most famous comic Green Lanterns: Hal Jordan and John Stewart (not the one from "The Daily Show").

Amazon Prime Video has released the first full trailer for the upcoming series “Cross.”

Aldis Hodge stars as detective and forensic psychologist Alex Cross, with the series based on the James Patterson novels featuring the iconic character. In the trailer, which can be seen in full below, Cross must hunt down a killer who has put the detective in his crosshairs.

“Cross” debuts on Prime Video on Nov. 14 with its full eight-episode first season. As previously reported, the show has already been renewed for Season 2. Along with Hodge, the series stars Isaiah Mustafa, Juanita Jennings, Alona Tal, Samantha Walkes, Caleb Elijah, Melody Hurd, Jennifer Wigmore, Eloise Mumford, and Ryan Eggold.

Ben Watkins developed the series for television and serves as showrunner and executive producer via his Blue Monday Productions banner. George Clooney and Brad Pitt are finally back on the big screen together in Jon Watts’ crime thriller “Wolfs.” They last worked together 16 years ago in “Burn After Reading” — but it’s not like they didn’t want to reunite.

“We’ve been looking,” Clooney told me at the “Wolfs” Los Angeles premiere on Wednesday. “We’ve been trying to find something to do.”

They first appeared on screen with each other 23 years ago in the “Ocean’s 11” remake. In “Wolfs,” they play two fixers separately tasked to deal with the same crime involving a young man (Austin Abrams), drugs and the Albanian mob.

“Jon Watts came with this idea,” Pitt said. “This was the first draft, which never happens. We both loved it. He didn’t tell us which character we were supposed to play [but] somehow, we knew.”

Update: Josh Brolin won’t play a space cop for DC Studios’ Lanterns series after passing on the opportunity to play the brash, cloud-slicing maverick Hal Jordan for the forthcoming HBO series. According to multiple sources, DC Studios offered Brolin the part in late August, but this past weekend, the No Country for Old Men and Avengers: Endgame actor declined. The studio gave no further details.

Did Brolin strike anyone else as an odd choice for Hal Jordan? Don’t get it twisted, I love me some Brolin, but isn’t he a little too rugged to play one of DC’s flagship Lanterns? I still think the show should center on John Stewart, but no one’s asking me. Regardless, the hunt is back for an actor to star as Hal Jordan in DC Studios’ Lanterns. Exclusive: Amanda Brooks (Super Pumped) has been in a recurring role on the Showtime series Dexter: Original Sin. Production is underway in Los Angeles with Clyde Phillips at the helm.

Brooks will portray Becca Spencer, Captain Aaron Spencer’s (Patrick Dempsey) ex-wife who shares custody of their son, Nicky. Aaron Spencer is the Captain of the Miami Metro Homicide Department who has a decades-long relationship with Harry Morgan (Christian Slater).

The 10-episode original drama series is set in 1991 Miami and follows Dexter (Patrick Gibson), a student refining his killer skills with the help and support of his adoptive father Harry. In his dad, he finds solace and understanding, especially as his bloodthirsty urges grow and can no longer be ignored.

Leverage was a great hit for TNT when it debuted in 2008.
