Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie is a cult classic amongst ‘90s pop culture enthusiasts and Power Rangers fans. Even with its fairly standard ‘90s adventure movie plot, wherein the Rangers lose their powers and have to go on a mystical quest to gain new ones, the film still sticks in the mind. Main baddie Ivan Ooze chews all the scenery, there are some impressive fight scenes, and the Rangers save the day by kneeing a monster in the balls. Yes the CG is dated, the story doesn’t hold up to some of the better episodes of the show, and it’s not in continuity with the series but if you want to have a movie night with friends of a certain age, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie is a solid watch.
While many love the film exactly as it is, it didn’t go from script to screen completely unchanged.

Stars: Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Shannon, Dania Ramirez, Jamie Chung, Wole Parks, Christopher Place | Written by David Koepp and John Kamps | Directed by David Koepp
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is doing quite well these days, especially following his role in The Dark Knight Rises, and being a young Bruce Willis in the fantastic Looper. Premium Rush was originally sandwiched between the two major releases for the actor, given that and his current popularity, you’d think they would promote the film a little better.
Playing out almost in real time, Premium Rush is the story of Manhattan bike messenger Wilee (Joseph Gordon-Levitt). In need of more work, he takes a last minute, end of the day job, getting an envelope from Uptown to Downtown Manhattan in 90 minutes. From the moment he picks up the envelope, things start going wrong, but committed Wilee is determined to get the envelope to its intended destination.

Blu-ray & DVD Release Date: Dec. 21, 2012
Price: DVD $30.99, Blu-ray $35.99
Studio: Sony Pictures Home Entertainment
Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception) is hell on two wheels in the action movie Premium Rush.
Gordon-Levitt plays Wilee, a bike messenger on the brutal New York City streets who’s known for getting his packages across town in record time. But after he’s requested to get a package to its destination by a strict deadline, he’s chased by a corrupt cop (Michael Shannon, TV’s Boardwalk Empire: Season 1) who will stop at nothing to intercept it.
War of the Worlds writer David Koepp co-wrote the screenplay for Premium Rush along with John Kamps (Ghost Town), and Koepp also served as director for the thriller film.
Despite good reviews, PG-13-rated Premium Rush grossed $20 million in theaters, lower than other movies of the same kind. Which is a surprise. The fast-paced film was called “hyper-adrenalized entertainment...

Joseph Gordon-Levitt returns to the big screen this month in Premium Rush, coming off the back of the success of one of the biggest and best films this year, The Dark Knight Rises.

Premium Rush Directed by: David Koepp Written by: David Koepp and John Kamps Starring: Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Shanno and Dania Ramirez David Koepp is best known as a writer (Panic Room, Angels and Demons), but he occasionally forays into the world of directing, with mixed receptions from audiences (Stir of Echoes, Ghost Town). Koepp attempts to tackle the tired car chase genre in Premium Rush … aka The Secret Life of Bike Couriers. He manages to infuse his project with some playful, innovative visuals, setting it apart from the standard paint by numbers action flick. I’m not sure the approach completely worked for me, but I’ll give fellow props for trying. Premium Rush tries to sell the ridiculous idea that riding a bike as a courier in New York is a constant game of life or death, even under the best of circumstances. These dedicated adrenaline junkies punch the...

"Fixed-gear, no brakes, can't stop, don't want to either" -- Watching Premium Rush, my first thought was that it seemed somehow familiar. That may be because it brought to mind the short-lived 1995 sitcom Double Rush, which featured an opening-credit sequence shot by Spike Jonze. Watch it at the end of this review and compare it with the Premium Rush trailer. Purely coincidence, no shared DNA here besides the shared bike messenger subject material, but an interesting comparison.
Eighteen years later, David Koepp has directed an exciting flick that unlike its sitcom sister takes place almost entirely on two wheels. Written by Koepp and John Kamps, who previously collaborated on Zathura, the movie Premium Rush takes its name from the highest-priority delivery service (just like Double Rush). The story centers around one particularly important delivery and the efforts Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character Wilee must make to see it through to the destination.

David Koepp’s Premium Rush is a generic, low-ambition summer action flick with a goofy and unique central conceit. We are all too familiar with this story – a young, detached rouge must take an important package from point A to point B while evading villainous pursuit – but we have not, the film assumes, seen it executed on bikes. Fighting crime with the power of pedals? Genius!
Sarcasm aside, the film really does deserve credit for trying something new, even as all non-cycling-related elements reek of rehash. I have never seen a film set in the world of New York City bike messengers, and if nothing else, Premium Rush proves one can stage plenty of decent set pieces by pitting a high-speed bike against congested traffic conditions.
It also proves ‘bike-fu’ – or whatever we wish to call Joseph Gordon Levitt’s cycling superheroics – is impossible to take seriously. Pedaling wildly to...

Michael Shannon eats up the scenery in Premium Rush, a film not to be taken the least bit seriously, but instead (mildly) enjoyed for its stupidity. Loaded with a multitude of problems -- most egregious would be its focus on the wrong character -- it's hardly a film you need to rush to see, but with the right mindset and friends at your side you could find yourself having a good time. Premium Rush is essentially bike messenger porn with a Google Maps fetish and the "street" attitude of Step Up. Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Wilee, a New York City bike messenger who lives on the edge. Yeah, he's a real daredevil. His bike doesn't have brakes (what?) it it only has one gear (word!), anything else is for sissies. He dropped out of law school because he can't see himself wearing a suit to work each day and the fact...

Despite generally good reviews, Sony's Joseph Gordon-Levitt action film Premium Rush may not be able to scale the box office chart as the late summer doldrums strike. Most box office observers believe holdover The Expendables 2 will win the weekend crown, while Premium Rush will battle it out for No. 2 with The Bourne Legacy. Conservative estimates show Premium Rush earning in the $6 million to $8 million range. The film cost just north of $30 million to produce and is directed by noted screenwriter David Koepp, who co-wrote the script with John Kamps.

Chicago – We’re looking for cowboy heroes in America, and a new film contends that the urban bike messenger could represent that long lost persona. This unlikely theory is the basis for “Premium Rush,” and it features Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Shannon, Aasif Mandvi and Dania Ramirez.
Rating: 3.0/5.0
The life of a bike messenger in this film involves a parallel universe of the adrenaline junkie riding the plane, nobly following a code that is unwavering to money, authority and the laws of gravity. “Premium Rush” is riddled with archetypes like the twitchy dispatcher, the over-competitive rival, the wise old messenger and the hates-him-until-she-loves-him relationship. Actor Michael Shannon adds a bit of weirdness to the conventional story, but it’s not enough to overcome the soft narrative veneer that pretends to be high octane. It may be the first high octane film that has the ability to induce sleep.

The actor is set to have another very good year this year, not only starring in the summer blockbuster The Dark Knight Rises, but also leading Looper and Premium Rush in the next few months, and starring in Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln. Not to mention the fact that he’s filming his feature directorial debut, Don Jon’s Addiction.
Following on from the trailers and images we’ve seen already now surfaces the first international poster for the film, as well as a new image from its official website.
“Dodging speeding cars, crazed cabbies, open doors, and eight million cranky pedestrians is all in a day’s work for Wilee, the best of New York’s agile and aggressive bicycle messengers. It takes a special breed to ride the fixie — super lightweight,...

Excited for Looper? Can’t wait for The Dark Knight Rises? Sorry, Jgl fans – all I’ve got for you today is a trailer for a direct to dv…I mean theatrical flick about a bike messenger on a race against time (I think). Now, it’s cool to know that Joseph Gordon Levitt does cardio, but I’d rather not watch it over 90 minutes, especially with a schlock style plot. The title would’ve been better for a surfing movie, Imo.
Synopsis via IMDb:
In Manhattan, a bike messenger picks up an envelope that attracts the interest of a dirty cop, who pursues the cyclist throughout the city.

Put Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the lead of anything and I’m sold, right off the bat. Put him alongside Michael Shannon, and I’ve got more than I could want. Add to that last year’s brilliant first trailer, and you’ve got one of the coolest-looking films of 2012.
An awesome second trailer has debuted over at Yahoo Movies, along with ten new hi-res images from the film, which sees Gordon-Levitt take the lead alongside the excellent Shannon, Dania Ramirez, Jamie Chung, and Aasif Mandvi.

After getting an awesome first teaser trailer and poster for Looper yesterday, we now have two new images of Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the first of his leading roles this year, Premium Rush.
We got the first trailer for the film last September, and with Michael Shannon, Dania Ramirez, and Jamie Chung co-starring, and David Koepp (Spider-Man, Panic Room) and John Kamps (Ghost Town) co-writing under Koepp’s direction, this action-thriller clearly has the potential to be brilliant.

If you've ever done corporate time working in an urban business environment, you're no doubt familiar with bicycle messengers — you know, those seemingly suicidal individuals who inhabit an insular world that balances no responsibility with major responsibility. Surely, their ability to dart through traffic with nerves of steel and a pouch full of contracts demands a movie they can call their own.
Apparently, the people at Columbia Pictures think so. How else to explain Premium Rush, the bike messenger thriller hitting theaters on January 13, 2012?
Directed by David Koepp and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Shannon and Dania Ramirez, Premium Rush is the story of a bike messenger (Gordon-Levitt) who gets tangled up with a dirty cop (Shannon). It seems the messenger has an envelope the cop really, really wants. So, rather than give the dirty cop the envelope and save his life, the bike messenger — true to form — does everything he can to get himself killed,...

It's been several years since a bicycle messenger movie has been released — 1986's Quicksilver to be exact. Writer-director David Koepp (Stir of Echoes, Secret Window) has used the world of New York bicycle messengers as the setting for his latest thriller, Premium Rush.
Starring the currently ubiquitous Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception, the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises), Premium Rush follows a risk-taking bike messenger named Wilee (Gordon-Levitt) whose latest package gains the interest of a crooked cop (Michael Shannon) and starts a dangerous and deadly pursuit that continues throughout the city. The thriller won't come out until next year, so the first trailer is the best peek at the movie until the marketing campaign kicks into gear (get it?) at the end of the year.
Next Showing: Premium Rush opens Jan. 13

Columbia Pictures has released the first trailer for David Koepp's chase thriller Premium Rush which stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a bike messenger who somehow gets involved in a chase across New York City. Hit the jump to watch the trailer. Leave your thoughts in the comments below. Trailer thanks to Yahoo [1]: Previously: The film also features Michael Shannon (The Runaways, Jonah Hex) as the villain, "a deceptively affable cop with a violent temper", and Jamie Chung as Levitt's ex-girlfriend, "a fellow daredevil bike messenger who helps him outwit the cop." David Koepp is best known as one of Hollywood's highest paid screenwriters (and one of Spielberg's scribes). Turns out we've been in the dark about all those awesome "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" posters we've been ogling over the past month.
Paramount Pictures announced today that there is a new app for the movie, TF3: Defend The Earth, that allows iPhone and iPod Touch users to scan the posters and convert them into an augmented reality experience. The app allows users to track down their nearest posters and, once they activate the augmented reality, participate in an exciting immersive game. So we'd suggest heading to your nearest IMAX or AMC to find out more!
In the news after the jump, find out which director is planning to reboot "War Games," see the new poster for "Brave" and surprise yourself at what fourth dimension is being implemented for "Spy Kids: All the Time in the World."

The black spy and white spy of Spy vs. Spy really take “Anything you can do, I can do better” to heart. Spy vs. Spy began as a black and white comic strip in Mad Magazine in 1961 and over the years has become an animated cartoon on MadTV, a Sunday strip, a board game, and has even inspired several video games.
According to Deadline, Spy vs. Spy is now headed to the big screen with Warner Bros and Ron Howard directing. The adaptation is described to be “a physical and highly visual action comedy with two spies going mano a mano in ruthless fashion.”
The script will be penned by John Kamps (Premium Rush, Ghost Town). David Koepp along with Howard and his Imagine Entertainment partner Brian Grazer will produce.

As questions arise about Ron Howard’s ambitious adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Dark Tower” series, the two-time Oscar-winning director is attached to direct two more potential projects: Spy vs. Spy and a Formula 1 racing film titled Rush.
Deadline reports Warner Bros has Howard on board to shoot a live-action feature based on the Mad magazine comic strip “Spy vs. Spy.” David Koepp (Angels & Demons) will produce and oversee the script writen by John Kamps, who recently partnered with Koepp on the January 2012 thriller Premium Rush. It’s intended to be “a physical and highly visual action comedy” about, what else, two spies going head to head in destructive combat. For the record, the last time Howard went playful it was for 2000’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas with Jim Carrey.
This as Universal waits patiently for a rewrite from Howard and his producing partners Brian Grazer and Akiva Goldsman on The Dark Tower.

Spy vs. Spy was created by a Cuban exile in the middle of the Cold War, but the appeal of the iconic Mad magazine strip is universal. Two enemies — one dressed all in black, the other all in white — eternally fight each other, using bombs and booby traps. It doesn’t initially seem like film material… but by George, this is Hollywood, and anything is possible! Thus: EW has confirmed that Warner Bros. is currently developing a film adaptation of Spy vs. Spy, to be produced by David Koepp, Brian Grazer, and Ron Howard, with Howard also set to direct.

Ron Howard (How the Grinch Stole Christmas) will direct Spy Vs. Spy, a live-action movie based on Mad Magazine's long-running comic. The comic depicts look-a-like spies, one dressed in black and the other in white, who comically try to foil each other's attempts at espionage and assassination. Howard's Imagine Entertainment will produce for Warner Brothers. Zathura scribe John Kamps is writing the screenplay.

There is certainly no shortage of bad ideas floating around out there in Hollywood nowadays, and yet somehow this one is still ridiculous enough to make me shake my head. Ron Howard is apparently in talks to direct a live action movie based on Antonio Prohías' Spy vs. Spy comics that have appeared in Mad Magazine since the 1960s. The comic strip features two spies, one dressed in black and the other dressed in white, who are constantly trying to kill each other using a variety of ridiculous gadgets and booby traps. As far as I know, there was never any real plot aside from that, but I can't wait to see how they totally throw away the simplicity of the comic in favour of some lame, overcomplicated back story. John Kamps (Ghost Town, Zathura) will write the script, with David Koepp and Brian Grazer producing. Spy vs. Spy has...
