Stars: Gina La Piana, Robert Miano, Johann Urb, Silvia Spross, Kelli Maroney, Timothy Muskaten, Jackie Debatin, Nicolas Coster, Jon Mack | Written and Directed by Chad Ferrin
Chad Ferrin, director of the superb horror comedy Exorcism at 30,000 Feet, is back behind the camera – this time as writer And director of this H.P. Lovecraft inspired horror that feels very much like a throwback to the the work of Stuart Gordon and Brian Yuzna – both of whom tackled the very same Lovecraftian-inspired themes in their work.
The Deep Ones sees a married couple, Alex (Gina La Piana) and Petri (Johann Urb) renting a beach side Airbnb only to be surrounded by peculiar neighbours and occurrences. This being a horror film the pair soon discover that they are in the grips of a mysterious cult and their ancient sea god.

Blunt Force Trauma follows the journey of John (Kwanten) and Colt (Pinto), gunfighters and sometimes lovers, on parallel but very different journeys through an underground dueling culture. From cockfighting rings and train yards, to basements and barns across South America, modern-day warriors put on bulletproof vests and duel one another in underground gunfights to gain riches and respect. It’s known only as the Game, and Zorringer (Rourke) is its elusive champion. John is looking for the ultimate duel with Zorringer while Colt is seeking revenge for the death of her brother. The two gunslingers travel from one shootout to another on a dangerous journey of love, violence, and clandestine battles.

"This one feels different." The official UK trailer has debuted for a new film called Blunt Force Trauma, starring Mickey Rourke, Ryan Kwanten and Freida Pinto. Despite that rather interesting cast, this is actually going straight-to-dvd and looks a bit like a low budget clunker with some very underlit scenes. The film is about gunfighters, or modern day gun-slingers who actually fight with pistols and bulletproof vests. You know what, that is a cool idea I'll give them that, but this has other problems. Anyway, the cast includes Jon Mack, Jason Gibson, Carolina Gómez and Maruia Shelton. Check it out below if you're curious. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Ken Sanzel's Blunt Force Trauma, direct from YouTube: From cockfighting rings and train yards, to basements and barns across South America, modern-day warriors put on bulletproof vests and battle one another in underground gunfights to gain riches and respect.

I love a good (or so bad its good) monster movie – as you can probably tell by the number of them I’ve reviewed here at Nerdly. So when a new one comes along I’m always excited to see what “delights” they will bring. Will they do something original? Or be completely off the wall? Recently the monster movie has seen a resurgence of the “nature gone wild” format – in particular the killer shark movie. But sharks are not only mans greatest enemy, well not if low-budget horror and sci-fi are to be believed, we also have to fear spiders… Giant spiders!

Although I hate spiders with an undying passion, I’m strangely drawn to monster movies which feature the creatures in all their disturbing glory. That said, “The Gate” director Tibor Takac’s “Spiders 3D” might be too much for me to handle. Even if the spiders look terrible, seeing something with eight legs flying towards my face would be too horrifying for words. To get people talking about this three-dimensional nightmare, a full trailer and a brand new poster have been unleashed upon the interwebs. Even that word kind of creeps me out. Here’s what the film is all about: Following a crash of an old Soviet space station in New York City’s subway tunnel, a new species of poisonous spiders is discovered. Inadvertently the spiders mutate to gigantic proportions and wreak havoc on the entire city. “Spiders 3D,” which stars William Hope, Patrick Muldoon, Jon Mack, and Christa Campbell,...

Hard to believe we’re due two giant spiders terrorizing a major city movies this year. Mega Spider will have to wait while Christa Campbell and Patrick Muldoon contend with giant spiders in a 3D movie from the director of The Gate.
Christa Campbell (who also served as a producer on Texas Chainsaw 3D, so you know she’s have a good week regardless of what knuckleheads like myself thought of the film) stars as a New York City health inspector who pairs up with Starship Troopers brain suckee Patrick Muldoon to contend with mutant spiders ranging from five-foot to “Godzilla vs.” size spawned by the wreckage of a Soviet space station that crashes down onto the Big Apple.
Tibor Tackas, director of such fine horror offerings as The Gate, I, Madman, Mansquito, and Ice Spiders directs from a script by Joseph Farrugia.

Tibor Takacs loves him some nature-run-amok action. The man who gave us titles like Mega Snake, Rats, Mansquito and Ice Spiders (not to mention The Gate) is back with Spiders 3D.
The flick is in post-production (so says the IMDb, but I swear I've been hearing about this damn movie forever and figured it was done by now) and we found a spiffy new one-sheet. You can find a larger version after the jump.
Spiders 3D comes to us from Millennium Films, the company behind this week's release The Expendables 2 and the forthcoming The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D. Maybe they'll squeak this one into theaters?

Ready to take a break from all the E3 news that's been filling up our pages and relax with some new music? Then check out this post-apocalyptic music video for "Shadow," a song off Bleeding Edge, the sophomore album from horror actress Jon Mack's prog rock band Auradrone.
Mack (Mandrake, Saw VI, Spiders 3D) has teamed up with Robert Lasardo (The Professional, "Nip/Tuck") and Brian Krause (Camel Spiders, Tbk: The Toolbox Murders 2, "Charmed") for this dystopian video about a struggle between alien hybrids and humans. It was written and directed by Dan Zacharias and produced by Zacharias and Mack.
A collective music and multi-media project led by Los Angeles artist Mack, Auradrone combines electronic sounds with live instrumentation, resulting in ultramodern post-rock dance music that is gritty, sensuous, and sophisticated. Bleeding Edge features the collaboration of Mack (vox, electronics, guitar), Strasbourg France’s Fred Traverso (electronics), and Christopher Fudurich (electronics,...

There’s a lot going on in Mongolian Death Worm, the underachieving Syfy original movie directed by Steven R. Monroe. Is it the story of a self-described "scoundrel" hunting for treasure? Or is it the tale of a dedicated doctor trying to save a village from pestilence? Or is it the account of oil exploration run amok that is also a metaphor for the way humanity is looting the resources of Mother Earth to deadly consequence? One could say it's all those things, and maybe that's why Mongolian Death Worm fails to entertain as well as it might. Or maybe it's just because the filmmakers never deliver any more than is absolutely necessary. Yeah, that's probably it.
