John Pirruccello(I)
- Actor
A versatile actor who shines in everything from straight drama to black comedy, John Pirruccello's Everyman appeal allows him to inhabit an intriguing and diverse array of characters on both stage and screen.
Born in San Antonio, Texas, John is the son of an Air Force fighter pilot father and speech pathologist mother. Both of John's grandfathers were Air Force fighter pilots and World War II veterans. His paternal grandfather flew numerous missions in the B-27 Flying Fortress; his maternal grandfather, also a test pilot, was one of the first to fly the P-51 and once transported the Bell X-1 Glamorous Glennis to Edwards Air Force Base with Chuck Yeager as his co-pilot. John's father, an A-1 Sandy pilot, was shot down and killed during the Vietnam War. His mother subsequently moved John and his sister to Northern Virginia to be near her parents and then later to Westminster West, Vermont, where she raised her children on her own.
John graduated from University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a B.S. in Italian. He spent his sophomore year in Siena. Starting his acting career in San Francisco, John drove a cab and worked at a coffee shop while refining his improv skills in the drop-in workshop led by the late, great Jim Cranna of The Committee. It was here that he started his voiceover career, working in countless television and radio commercials, video games, cartoons, and films.
John works in theatre, stand-up, sketch comedy, film, and television. His many television roles include PI Nick Stavros in HBO's Phil Spector with Al Pacino and Helen Mirren (2013); corrupt and arrogant Deputy Chad Broxford in Showtime's Twin Peaks: The Return (2017); rogue cop O'Grady in FX's Mayans MC (2019 and 2021); and bitter divorcé police detective John Loach for two seasons in Alec Berg and Bill Hader's HBO dark comedy Barry (2018 and 2019), for which he was twice nominated with the cast for a SAG Award.
His numerous guest-starring appearances include: the clueless Riley's Dad in the offbeat FX television series Better Things with Pamela Adlon (2019); the smarmy Stu in the Hulu TV mini-series Little Fires Everywhere with Reese Witherspoon (2020); and Larry David's cheapskate golfing buddy Dennis in the 11th season premiere of Emmy award-winning HBO comedy Curb Your Enthusiasm (2021).
John appears as Stegman opposite Eugenio Derbez and Samara Weaving in the Hulu original comedy film The Valet (2022) and the Marvel series She-Hulk (2022) opposite Tatiana Maslany and Tim Roth.
John has two grown-ass children and lives in Santa Monica with Julie.
