- Paul Mitchell Wright was born and raised in Houston, Texas. His acting career had its roots in comedy, impersonating famous people including Louis Armstrong, Walter Brennan, Richard Nixon, John Wayne, JFK, and others at an early age at parties, banquets, and pep rallies. Recently, after being on set day-to-day for several weeks with Billy Bob Thornton (Friday Night Lights), he entertained the crew with his impersonation of Thornton. Several years ago, in a similar situation, after weeks on the set of The Ballad of the Sad Cafe, he would impersonate Rod Steiger to the delight of the crew and director, Simon Callow.
Some of Paul's favorite experiences have been in the realm of theatre, with performances in The Grapes of Wrath, Dividing the Estate, Six Degrees of Separation (all at Zachary Scott Theatre in Austin Texas), Dead Innocence (at the Cambridge Drama Centre, in Cambridge, England), How I Learned to Drive, and the role of Charles Bukowski in the original creation "Locked In the Arms of a Crazy Life", directed by Shelby Brammer. These are among the 30+ theatre credits for Mr. Wright.
Paul has also performed as a musician (bass, acoustic guitars) in clubs and bars all over Texas, Cambridge, England, and in Christchurch, New Zealand. He most recent project (2017) was composing and arranging music for a theatrical performance of The Grapes of Wrath in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, under the direction of Shelby Brammer.
