Erich Kunzel was born on 21 March 1935 in Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA. He is known for The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec (2010), Great Performances (1971) and My Own Partridge Family (2002). He was married to Brunhilde Kunzel. He died on 1 September 2009 in Swan's Island, Maine, USA.

Was the former lead conductor of The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra.

He was awarded the 2006 American National Medal of the Arts by the
National Endowment of the Arts in Washington D.C. for his services to
music.

He made his professional debut with the Santa Fe Opera in 1957.

He attended Dartmouth, Harvard and Brown universities.

He joined the Cincinnati Symphony in 1965 as associate conductor.
