[This story contains spoilers for “Does One Door Close and Another One Open?,” the season eight finale of Chicago Med.]
Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) has been chafing under newly profit-centered management of the Gaffney Chicago Medical Center since Jack Dayton (Sasha Roiz) took control of the hospital. The season eight finale of Chicago Med brought his frustration to a head, when Dayton insisted on going through with a surgery assisted by his Or 2.0 system, under protest by Dr. Crockett Marcel (Dominic Rains).
The routine hernia surgery goes fine — no thanks to 2.0, which shows a complication that’s not there. Halstead admits to Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) that he manipulated 2.0 to produce a bad result — and protects Dr. Song (T.V. Carpio), who hacked the system — and hands in his resignation letter. “What are we going to do without you?” Goodwin asks him.
The law of unintended consequences, however, might catch up to the rest of the staff at Med: Dayton tells Goodwin that the botched public demonstration of 2.0 has wrecked him financially,...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Chicago Med Season 8 finale “Does One Door Close and Another One Open?”] The promo for the Chicago Med Season 8 finale teased “someone will go,” but how? Does Maggie (Marlyne Barrett) take a new job after meeting with a recruiter? Does Dean (Steven Weber) die before he can get the kidney he needs, from his son Sean (Luigi Sottile)? Does someone else decide it’s time to leave the hospital, because of the recent changes or another reason? The finale foreshadows all of these possibilities. Just as Dayton (Sasha Roiz) is ready to show off what the new Or can do with his own hernia repair, Will (Nick Gehlfuss) and Grace (TV Carpio) discover the system created a lesion as a misguided attempt to help him with a patient who died. Dayton tries to brush off Marcel’s (Dominic Rains) concerns at first, then tells him he trusts him (and doesn...

George A. Romero brought the world the first flesh-eating zombies in the 1968 classic Night of the Living Dead, then followed that up with Dawn of the Dead in 1978 and Day of the Dead in 1985. He was hoping to get another Dead movie made in the ’90s, but wasn’t able to get it into production until the next decade – resulting in the 2005 release Land of the Dead (watch it Here). And with the new episode of the Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie?, we’re digging into the story of the making of Romero’s long-awaited fourth Dead movie. Check it out in the embed above!
Written and directed by Romero, Land of the Dead had the following synopsis: In a world where zombies form the majority of the population, the remaining humans build a feudal society away from the undead. T.V. Carpio, the actress who has appeared in shows such as Big Sky and The Client List, has joined the NBC medical drama Chicago Med in a recurring role. As reported by Deadline, Carpio will portray Dr. Grace Song, a new doctor hired by Jack Dayton (Sasha Roiz), and is set to shake things up when the show returns in 2023. The casting comes following several cast departures, including Brian Tee, Asjha Cooper, Sarah Rafferty, Kristen Hager, and Guy Lockard. Carpio’s Dr. Song is likely to be one of many changes for the popular medical series. This season’s fall finale saw Roiz’s Jack purchase a controlling interest in Gaffney Medical Group, which suggests he will be setting up his own team as he rebuilds the hospital in his image. Chicago Med, created by Dick Wolf and Matt Olmstead, launched in 2015 and premiered its eighth season on September 21, 2022. It...

Exclusive: T.V. Carpio (Big Sky) has joined the cast of NBC’s Chicago Med in a recurring role, Deadline hears. She will portray Dr. Grace Song, a new doctor hired by Jack Dayton (Sasha Roiz) who will shake things up when the show returns in the spring.
Grace’s hiring comes as no surprise following the news that Jack bought controlling interest in Gaffney Medical Group in the fall finale—building up his own team is par for the course. If Sharon Goodwin’s (S. Epatha Merkerson) reaction to the news of Jack’s come-up is any indication of what’s to come, however, it’s more than likely the addition of Grace won’t be the only change ahead for the hospital.

“I’m an extremely private person, but I felt a responsibility to tell my story,” the actress told People, revealing that doctors found a “football-sized” tumor on her uterus and left ovary in July.

In a sign of what may be seen as an emerging, successful alternative to expensive red carpet charity events, Saturday night’s two-hour Lead With Love: Project Angel Food Emergency Telethon, which aired live on Ktla 5, smashed its fundraising goal. The virtual event exceeded its $500,000 goal by nearly $200,000, totaling more than $700,000 during the all-star event, at very little cost to the Hollywood-based nonprofit Project Angel Food.
A-list names, including Sir Elton John, David Furnish, Jamie Lee Curtis, Matt Bomer and Sharon Stone, contributed brief segments celebrating Project Angel Food’s contributions to Hollywood’s underserved community. Furnish and Curtis both mentioned bringing their families with them to volunteer at the facility, which prepares and delivers tens of thousands of meals each week to people in need.

Superman: Red Son is one of the most iconic Elseworlds stories ever created, and now it’s been adapted for the screen as the next DC animated movie to come from Warner Bros. Animation. Forget everything you know about America’s greatest superhero though as in this alternate universe, he’s no longer an American.
Based on the 2003 limited comic book series by Mark Millar, Dave Johnson and Killian Plunkett, Superman: Red Son explores what would happen if Kal-El’s Kryptonian pod hadn’t crashed into Smallville, Kansas but a farm in the Ukraine instead. The result is that Superman’s raised by Josef Stalin and becomes a key weapon during the height of the Cold War. The knock-on effect is that the DC universe changes around him, with different versions of the likes of Batman and Green Lantern turning up.

Now that Batman: Gotham by Gaslight has opened the door for various other Elseworlds tales to be adapted as animated films, Superman: Red Son will be the first to follow in its footsteps. To be quite honest, this doesn’t come as much of a surprise because the limited series written by Mark Millar and illustrated by Dave Johnson has long remained one of the most popular in the line, not to mention DC fans demanding this become a reality for years.
To briefly sum up what that story entailed for those unfamiliar, what you need to know going into your first viewing of the animated flick is that it explored that possibility of baby Kal-El’s rocket landing in Soviet Russia instead of in Smallville, Kansas. As you can imagine, the Comrade of Steel had a very different upbringing than the hero we’ve come to know otherwise.

"Superman: Red Son", a new animated full-length feature available in 2020, is part of the 'DC Universe Animated Original Movies' line, based on writer Mark Millar's 3-issue DC Comics minseries, set in an 'alternate reality' circa 1953-2001, that sees the baby 'Krypton' alien 'Kal-El', the future 'Superman', crashland in the 'Soviet Union', instead of Kansas, USA:
"...instead of landing in Kansas as a child, I've decided to explore what could have happened if his rocket would have landed on a collective farm in the 'Soviet Union'," said Millar.
"Instead of working for the 'Daily Planet', he'll be a reporter for 'Pravda'. There's a reversal of the current situation, this time it's the Us that's splitting up, with Georgia and Louisiana demanding independence — tanks rolling through the streets of New Orleans..."

DC's animated movie adaptation of Superman: Red Son is almost here. Here's everything you need to know...
Superman: Red Son is the next iconic DC Comics story to get the animated feature treatment, and it's coming very, very soon!
Indeed, the 2003 comic miniseries from Mark Millar, Dave Johnson, and Killian Plunkett, which might just be the best known Elseworlds tale ever, is set land its animated movie in February, 2020.
The original story imagines a world where baby Kal-El's ship crashed in Ukraine instead of Kansas, and then Superman was raised as a Soviet superweapon. It features some of the sharpest Elseworlds design work ever done, adapting the entire Justice League into brutalist Soviet art styles. And it's one of those rare Millar books where the heart is bigger than the shock value of the story.
