David was born in Seoul, South Korea, and raised by immigrant parents in Oahu, Hawaii. After graduating from UCLA, David earned an MFA from USC Film School. David pursued a corporate career, working in senior management roles at STAR TV in Hong Kong, CJ Entertainment in Korea, FOX Network Group in Japan, and The Walt Disney Company in Singapore.

Transitioning from corporate leadership to entrepreneurial endeavors, David founded Iconique Pictures in 2017, where he serves as Executive Producer and Writer. Iconique Pictures specializes in producing Japanese and Asian films and television series, showcasing David's commitment to fostering diverse storytelling in the global entertainment landscape.

David is the creator and executive producer for the Disney+ / Hulu series The House of the Owl (2024).
