While Dreamworks Animation are known for their big franchises such as Shrek, Kung-Fu Panda, and How to Train Your Dragon, they also have notable standalone works amidst their output. One of their strongest is 2010’s Megamind, a witty take on cyclical comic-book rivalries that was sadly overshadowed by that year’s other supervillain-focused animation, Despicable Me. In the age of superhero movies dominating the conversation, a sequel to the Will Ferrell led animation is ripe for commentary. Somewhere, a finger on a monkey’s paw curled as the world is inflicted with Megamind vs The Doom Syndicate.

The first full-length trailer for Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part Three has just hit (via Toonado.com), and it teases what looks to be a high-stakes finale to this animated trilogy (and the Tomorrowverse as we know it).
With the Anti-Monitor on the loose, a whole host of heroes assemble to save the Multiverse, but it looks like that will be easier said than done when they also have Lex Luthor to contend with. Several other villains are also spotted, including The Joker, Scarecrow, and Two-Face.
In terms of cameos, the trailer ends with another Batman: The Animated Series tease. Batman Beyond also appears, but perhaps the biggest surprise comes when we return to the world of the Super Friends!
The Saturday morning cartoon aired between 1973 and 1985 on ABC and was produced by Hanna-Barbera. That classic animation style returns here and we're hoping the movie has even...

The sequel to 2010’s legendary animated film Megamind was released recently on Peacock to negative responses and extreme criticism. Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate acted as a sequel as well as a pilot for Peacock’s Megamind Rules! TV show. However, fans of the iconic film were not happy with the resulting product, with the film scoring a lousy 0%.
The sequel has been in the making for over ten years and has infuriated fans as their time has been wasted. The film is reportedly the worst-rated film by DreamWorks Animation, who are also awaiting the release of Kung Fu Panda 4. Despite being a popular IP, the film failed to impress any of the audiences, and here are three reasons behind the failure of the sequel.

The Cartoon Network series "Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends" lasted six seasons on the network, but many fans (myself included) still believe the show ended way too soon. Created by Craig McCraken and running from 2004-2009, "Foster's Home" delivered a magical world where imaginary friends are not only real but a necessary part of life. While Foster's is typically a boarding house for imaginary friends...

Craig McCracken’s “Kid Cosmic” is one of the best animated shows of the past few years, bursting with heart and imagination. And while it debuted on Netflix almost exactly a year ago, it has already cycled through three seasons and 24 half-hour episodes. And while it is sad to see the show go, it ends in a way that is both emotionally satisfying and extremely entertaining (we are forbidden from discussing details).
With the third and final season now streaming on Netflix, TheWrap spoke with series creator Craig McCracken about where the show came from and ending “Kid Cosmic” and concluding the series its own terms.
Secret Origins
The idea for “Kid Cosmic” struck McCracken back in 2009. “It really was just this odd kid that lived in this desert community and drove people, local truckers and staff, in this truck stop crazy. And he had found this object that he assumed was from space,...

It has been said, Very often, that Warner Bros’ animated DC movies are the highlight of the DC cinematic universe – often surpassing their live-action counterparts in terms of performance and story, with more animated hits than live-action misses. The long-running series of animated movies was recently rebooted, no longer needing to fit into the continuity of The New 52, under the “DC Universe Movies” banner… the latest of which is Justice Society: World War II.

Comic fandom has crossed so thoroughly into the mainstream, that mass media is proving elastic enough to encompass what was previously considered the obscure. Case in point, the just-released Justice Society: World War II direct-to-video film. Here is a story focused on the first comic book team that finally gets the spotlight after making cameos and guest appearances on animated and live-action television productions dating back to Smallville.
I personally love the Jsa and was thrilled they were getting a film of their own. Unfortunately, the finished product is not the Jsa we know, nor is it a particularly good piece of storytelling. Producers Butch Lukic and Jim Krieg apparently started this project as a Wonder Woman in WW II story that morphed and was appended to the parallel worlds concept.
We start on what we presume is the Dcau world as Flash (Matt Bomer) comes to aid Superman (Darren Criss) but clearly,...

Surprising to some, Batman and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have some commonalities. After all, the half-shell heroes were initially created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird as a parody of Frank Miller’s work on Daredevil, before coming to DC and turning his talents to The Dark Knight. Both properties work best in the shadows and had the producers of this animated adventure leaned into that, this could have been a cut above an obvious cash grab.
The participants have met before, in three miniseries from DC Comics and Idw in addition to one strictly set in their “Adventures” incarnations, aimed more at all-ages readers. Now, we have Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a briskly paced story. It’s not bad, but boy, it could have been so much more had anyone made an effort.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has released a new clip from DC’s upcoming animated film Batman Vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The clip happens to be the opening scene of the movie and it focuses on the Ninja Turtles as they descend on Gotham City. As you might imagine, Batman is not happy upon hearing about these “lizard men” from Batgirl.
This clip features the Foot Clan descending “upon Powers Industrial, where Barbara Gordon, aka Batgirl (voiced by Crazy Ex-Girlfriend's producer/star Rachel Bloom) is getting a first-hand look at an extremely powerful generator.”
Here’s the synopsis for the film:
It’ll take the unlikely unification of the Dark Knight and the Heroes in a Half-shell to overcome the combined villainous forces afoot in Gotham City in the all-new, feature-length animated thriller.

The first trailer for Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has arrived, along with the reveal of it’s stacked voice cast as well as the film’s eventual home video release. Based on the six part comic crossover of the same name, the recently confirmed animated film looks to be a pretty close adaptation of it’s source material. There’s some pretty awesome moments in the trailer, so hopefully the final film will live up to the promise that this first look provides.
The all-star cast of Batman vs. Tmnt is led by Troy Baker as the voice of both Batman and the Joker – making Baker the first actor to ever play both roles in the same film. Opposite Baker are the Ninja Turtles themselves – Emmy Award/Golden Globe Award/SAG Award winner Darren Criss as Raphael, Kyle Mooney (Saturday Night Live) as Michelangelo, Baron Vaughn (Grace and Frankie) as Donatello,...

For folks like me, DuckTales played a big part in your childhood. Between the comedy and mix of high adventure, it helped to scratch a very specific itch on TV shows that not a lot of animated series did back then. However, as great as iconic I found the series to be, perhaps what it’s best known for is its catchy opening theme. As someone who watched the show, catching that opening them was an integral part of the actual experience of watching the show (very much how the opening of an anime is an integral part of the show itself).
If for some reason, you don’t remember that opening (or if you've never seen it), take a look:
For as long as we’ve known that Disney Xd would be reviving DuckTales for a modern audience, we’ve been wondering how they’d handle the opening theme.

In case you weren't getting enough Duck-News, more characters have just been revealed for the exciting Ducktales reboot.
Earlier this week. Entertainment Weekly announced a great deal of supporting characters that will be in the series. First off, we have Gyro Gearloose. This is the crazy inventor who created Gizmoduck (Lin Manuel Miranda) and he will be voiced by Community's Jim Rash. From the looks of it, he almost looks more like a hipster inventor than a crazy inventor.
Next, we have the 2nd richest duck of Duckberg, Scrooge's rival, Flintheart Glomgold, who will be played by Keith Ferguson. The Beagle Boys will be returning with Ma Beagle. All the Beagle Boys will be voiced by Eric Bauza, while Ma Beagle will be played by Margo Martindale. Allison Janney will also be joining the series as Scrooge's old love interest Goldie O'Gilt. Before The Lego Movie could hit theaters last Friday, some assembly was required.
Correction: A lot of assembly.
Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s incredibly entertaining “block”buster is a hyperkinetic Frankenfilm, cobbled together from a variety of sources both huge (the classic “hero’s journey” monomyth) and teeny (does a certain dolphin noise sound familiar?). The movie is also filled with casting in-jokes, snippets of dialogue borrowed from other movies, and callbacks to the directors’ past work. I am childfree this week (it's sleep-away camp time), but that doesn't mean I don't have recommendations for what you and your kids should see during family movie time. Without the kids around to help pick the movies, I've selected three titles I think adults will enjoy as much as kids (that means no CGI-live action hybrids, no offense to "Smurfs" or "Alvin and the Chipmunks" fans).

Rated G Pick: "Cars Toons: Mater's Tall Tales" (2010, 36 minutes)

Kids Will Love: Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) has always been the more sweet and approachable underdog to Lightning McQueen's shiny champion and kids especially love him. Even the youngest preschooler will enjoy the various tall tales,...

Here's the description and further a few images from the show:
In the hour-long special, four very different characters‹Emperor Palpatine, Darth Vader, Boba Fett and Gary the Stormtrooper reveal untold stories that weave and interconnect throughout all six Star Wars films. Robot Chicken: Star wars Episode III also features Zac Efron as Anakin Skywalker, Anthony Daniels (from the original Star Wars films) as C3PO, Mike Henry (The Cleveland Show) and Donald Glover (Community), all making their first appearance in Rcsw. Also returning from the previous specials are Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian and Ahmed Best as Jar Jar Binks along with returning favorites Green,...

Seth Green and Matthew Senreich’s “Robot Chicken” is prepping for their third installment of their “Star Wars” specials with the casting of Zac Efron as Anakin and Anthony Daniels as C3PO. “We’re telling more of a linear story this time that covers the series from start to finish.”
Senreich explains the angle the “Robot Chicken” team will take:
“We wanted to take the Star Wars universe and see if through the eyes of our Robot Chicken: Star Wars Emperor Palpatine, Darth Vader, Boba Fett and Gary the Stormtrooper. We’ll still flip around the universe but we’ll get a unique perspective from the bad guy side, from people who just want to rule the universe.”
