The 66-year-old “Like A Virgin” singer sat front row next to Ice Spice at the Luar Fashion Show held on Tuesday night (Sept. 10) in New York City.

Other stars in attendance included Doechii, Amanda Lepore, Dylan Penn, Tinashe, Whitney Port, Coco Jones, Broderick Hunter, Jordan Roth, and Jenna Lyons.

After the fashion show, Madonna was seen arriving at Ballato’s restaurant for a late-night dinner with some friends.

A few weeks ago, Madonna was spotted getting cozy with her rumored new boyfriend while on a low-key trip to London.

The first images from Covid-themed comedy feature “Who Invited Charlie?” have been unveiled and they show Rosie (Jordana Brewster) frantically applying hand sanitizer as the pandemic takes hold.

Directed by Xavier Manrique (“Chronically Metropolitan”), the film, which was previously titled “Charlie In The Pandemic,” tells the story of a New York City family who decamp to the Hamptons to hide out the pandemic. But their Covid-safe bubble is popped when Charlie – complete with Blood Marys and pot – turns up bringing with him a “lifetime of hurt that might heal them all.”

Based on the autobiographical Flim-Flam Man: The True Story of My Father’s Counterfeit Life written by Jennifer Vogel, Flag Day is about the unique bond between a daughter and a messed-up but charismatic father, John Vogel, who spent years in prison for a bank robbery, was a grand schemer and dreamer, and who became the most notorious counterfeiter in U.S. history, single-handedly faking over $20 million.

Deadline’s reviewer, Pete Hammond called Penn’s character “an underworld guy who feels he is always just one step away from the American Dream.”

Exclusive: Cast has been set on comedy Charlie In The Pandemic, with Reid Scott, Jordana Brewster (Fast & Furious), Adam Pally (Happy Endings), and Dylan Penn (Flag Day) set to lead the project.

Xavier Manrique (Chronically Metropolitan) and his Blind Bulldog Films has teamed up with Jason Dubin’s (The Babysitters), Perry Street Films and Nicholas Schutt to produce the feature. David Frankel (The Devil Wears Prada) is exec producing. Manrique is set to direct a script penned by Schutt (Outer Banks).

In the movie, the Covid bubble is popped when a New York City family hiding out in the Hamptons is surprised by a Bloody Mary-swilling, pot-smoking ‘Charlie’ from their past who brings a lifetime of hurt that might heal them all.

The film is now in pre-production and is set to shoot in New York City and the Hamptons later this month.

Global film sales and U.S. distribution company Blue Fox Entertainment has acquired worldwide rights to coming-of-age crime drama-thriller “Signs of Love,” starring Hopper Jack Penn (“Flag Day”), Dylan Penn, Zoë Bleu, and her mother, Rosanna Arquette.

Blue Fox will introduce the film to international buyers at AFM and will distribute it theatrically in the U.S. next year.

The cast also includes Cree Kawa and Wass Stephens. The film, which was shot on location in Philadelphia and is now in post-production, marks the feature film writing and directing debut of Clarence Fuller. The film is being produced by David Michaels and Alexander Norton, with Gabrielle Almagor serving as an executive producer.

“Signs of Love” takes place in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia, a tough neighborhood where cultures mix but the law of the streets still rules.

After being shut down last year by the pandemic, Savannah College of Art and Design is returning to an in-person format this year for its annual Scad Savannah Film Festival, which runs Oct. 23-30.

The fest will also have a virtual component. Student filmmakers are turning out to volunteer in numbers that have “happily surprised” and exceeded the expectations of Christina Routhier, longtime executive and artistic director of Scad theaters and festivals.

Oscar-winning costume designer Sandy Powell will be honored at the 24th annual Scad Savannah Film Festival with the Variety Creative Impact in Costume Design Award.

Powell, who has created the looks of queens in “The Favourite” and “Shakespeare in Love”; mobsters in “The Irishman” and “Gangs of New York”; lush period pieces such as “Carol” for more than three decades will be appearing in conversation on Oct. 29 with Variety senior artisans editor Jazz Tangcay for a career retrospective talk. She will also be discussing her latest work on “Mothering Sunday,” which will screen at the festival.

The 2021 edition of the Georgia film festival will be a hybrid of in-person and virtual screenings from Oct. 23-30.

Kenneth Branagh’s “Belfast” kicks off the event, which will culminate with the closing-night gala screening of “King Richard” with Aunjanue Ellis present. The centerpiece gala “C’mon C’mon” will screen on Oct. 27 with director and writer Mike Mills in attendance.

After the formidable misfire of his last directorial effort The Last Face (2016), Sean Penn unfortunately doesn’t fare much better with his labor-of-love follow-up Flag Day, ‘based on a true story’ from the memoir Film Flam Man by Jennifer Vogel. A film about an ‘unique’ familial dysfunction in America’s heartland, Vogel’s woe is horribly maligned in a script from Brit scribe Jez Butterworth and the clearly out of touch Penn, who casts daughter Dylan Penn in curiously underwhelming lead role, which he usurps most suspiciously whenever he’s also on screen.

Like an overworked Sam Shepard melodrama beneath the hubris of a John Huston lens, Penn apes all his favored darlings for this seedy beat caricature which can’t quite hit the high notes of the trauma porn it aims to be.…...

Sean Penn is thrilled his new movie, “Flag Day,” is exclusively releasing in theaters, but only wants vaccinated people to go see it.

“I do always feel, at this point in time, that I have to say that I hope — I’d ask — that as much as I want people all to go to the theater, I really only want people who are vaccinated and safe to themselves and each other to go,” he told NBC’s Seth Meyers Monday night. “It will stream.”

He added, “Most of the people who aren’t vaccinated probably aren’t interested in my movies, anyway.”

Dylan Penn, the young actor of Sean Penn’s “Flag Day” which competed at Cannes, will be receiving the Hol­ly­wood Rising-Star Award at the upcoming Deauville American Film Festival.

The Hollywood Rising-Star Award launched in 2011 and handed out its inaugural nod to Ryan Gosling and Jes­si­ca Chas­tain, and went on to pay tribute to Paul Dano, Robert Pat­tin­son, Eliz­a­beth Olsen, Chloé Grace Moretz, Daniel Rad­cliffe, Shai­lene Wood­ley, Elle Fan­ning and Sophie Turn­er.

Penn, who is the daugh­ter of Sean Penn and Robin Wright, received critical acclaim for her performance in “Flag Day,” in which she held her first major role as Jennifer Vogel. Described as an intimate family portrait, the film is inspired by the real-life story of Vogel and the dysfunctional relationship she had with her fascinating father, who happened to be a flamboyant conman and bank robber.

Sean Penn’s Flag Day raised a $1,656 per screen average from 24 runs this weekend, a glum opening for the father-daughter family drama from United Artists Releasing.

The film, directed and starring Penn as the most notorious counterfeiter in U.S. history, along with daughter Dylan Penn, targeted an older, sophisticated demo that’s proving hard to get back. Deadline’s heard that 56% of the audience that did show up was over age 55 – a hefty percentage.

Uar’s president, distribution, Erik Lomis told Deadline on Friday the industry is struggling to crack that code, a proposition not made any easier by the Delta variant. The struggle is clearly ongoing.

The film grossed $10,853 on Friday, $18,002 Saturday and an estimated $11,895 on Sunday in ten markets. It has a 88% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, but with only 50 ratings.
