Born and raised in Southern California, Writer/Director Shannon Van Metre has loved everything about movies and filmmaking since her early teens. In 1997, she was accepted into UCLA but chose instead to get a jump on her career in the entertainment industry as a film loader for the Emmy-nominated TV show, Soldier Of Fortune, Inc.
Shannon quickly moved up in the camera department on award-winning shows Revenge, Brothers & Sisters, Good Girls Revolt and acclaimed feature films Mr. & Mrs. Smith, In Good Company and Loving Annabelle. Shannon launched Van Metre Films in 2017 when she wrote, directed, and produced her first short film FuN? starring James Tupper and Bill Cobbs.
FuN? was a Jury selection and nominated for Best Short Film at the 2017 Hollywood Film Festival, with official selections at 2018 LA Shorts, HollyShorts, Beloit and Idyllwild Festivals. In 2019, Shannon directed and produced her second short film, Kleen, starring Melora Walters, Olivia Holguin and Benjamin Barrett, winning Best Drama at Just 4 Shorts Film Festival.
After working with Ryan Murphy Productions on Emmy nominated and award-winning series The Politician, Ratched, Hollywood and American Crime Story: Impeachment, Shannon graduated from The Half Initiative, Ryan's prestigious directing program.
Shannon has co-written The Water King and is slated to direct in the Spring of 2024. She has also finished writing her first original feature script Out Of The Fray.
