With the Nashville Reunion Concert tour right around the corner, Chris Carmack had to put himself through quite the mid-SAG-AFTRA strike makeover, as seen in an amusing video posted to his Instagram page.
The video (embedded below) portends to capture the moment that Sam Palladio, one of the tour’s four headliners, invited Carmack to join in the reunion — if only for two “One Night-Only” nights.

Oscar-winning screenwriter Callie Khouri had an ace in the hole when she created the ABC-turned-cmt musical drama Nashville a decade ago: She’s married to T Bone Burnett, a songwriter and record producer with 13 Grammys to his name. And Burnett’s supervision of Nashville’s first-season music helped sell the illusion that Connie Britton’s Rayna James and Hayden Panettiere’s Juliette Barnes were actually country superstars. Unfortunately, Burnett left the show after Season 1 amid conflict with ABC executives, but his work on the show helped Nashville soundtrack albums soar on Billboard’s U.S. Country charts. With Nashville hitting its 10th anniversary on October 10, we’re sharing our favorite tracks from the show — including ones performed by costars Charles Esten, Clare Bowen, Sam Palladio, Chaley Rose, and real-life sisters Lennon and Maisy Stella. “If I Didn’t Know Better” by Clare Bowen and Sam Palladio Co-written by John Paul White of The Civil Wars,...

IMDb TV, Amazon’s free streaming service, is not proceeding with picking up new seasons of canceled ABC drama series For Life and Rebel. The decision was made after the streamer evaluated the performance of the two shows’ existing seasons on the AVOD platform.
Season 1 and 2 of For Life became available on IMDb TV at the end of June through a deal with Sony Pictures TV; Rebel’s first season joined it on the service two weeks later under a pact with ABC Signature. Both agreements included an option for a new season order based on how the existing seasons performed on the platform, with the cast of both series available to continue.
Finding a new home for a canceled broadcast series is difficult and rarely successful, so the arrangements with IMDb TV were considered long shots, but TV studios often exhaust all avenues for their shows and talent before they throw in the towel.

The first season of Rebel, which was canceled by ABC in May, is now available on IMDb TV, Amazon’s free streaming service.
I hear the agreement between IMDb TV and lead Rebel studio ABC Signature includes an option for a second-season order based on how Season 1 performs on the platform. The studio still has the cast, led by Katey Sagal, under options, I hear, making a second season a realistic possibility.
IMDb TV recently made a similar arrangement with Sony Pictures TV for another canceled ABC drama, For Life, whose first two seasons are currently streaming on the service. That series, starring Nicholas Pinnock, also is eying a potential new season on the AVOD platform if the trial run of its existing seasons does well.

On Friday, ABC opted not to renew five titles, but the most unexpected was Katey Sagal-starrer Rebel from Grey’s Anatomy showrunner Krista Vernoff. Now somewhat distanced from the news, Sagal and Vernoff broke their silence on the sudden cancellation, which came five episodes into Rebel‘s freshman run.
“The abrupt announcement that there would be no season 2 based on the response from our airings came a shock and a heartbreak,” Sagal wrote on Instagram. “Things take time to catch on. Rebel tells the story of a woman who speaks up for what is right, the show has heart and purpose, funny and tears, and we, the cast, are all scratching our heads at the reversal of support from ABC.”

Five episodes into its freshman run, ABC’s Katey Sagal-starring drama Rebel has been canceled.
It was clearly a tough decision for the network because the series, inspired by the life of activist Erin Brockovich, comes from ABC’s most valuable drama showrunner, Krista Vernoff, who is shepherding the network’s top two scripted series, Grey’s Anatomy and spinoff Station 19.
Both Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 were recently renewed for next season, with Vernoff set to continue at the helm of the duo. Rebel, Vernoff’s first series as a creator, has underperformed in the ratings despite having ABC’s highest-rated series, Grey’s Anatomy, as a lead-in. But there was speculation that the new show’s pedigree and strong cast could earn it more time to find a wider audience.

ABC on Thursday gaveled to order the series premiere of Rebel, the legal drama created by Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 showrunner Krista Vernoff and starring Katey Sagal. The debut drew a 0.5 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic and 3.56 million viewers in Nielsen Live+Same Day numbers in its 10 p.m. time slot, capping the debut of the network’s all-Vernoff lineup. Rebel’s performance was in line with the season L+Sd averages for its predecessor in the 10 p.m. hour, A Million Little Things, which just relocated to its old Wednesday 10 p.m. berth.

Daniella Garcia has been cast in the upcoming ABC series “Rebel” in a recurring role, Variety has learned exclusively.
The series stars as Katey Sagal as Annie “Rebel” Bello, a blue-collar legal advocate without a law degree. She’s described as a funny, messy, brilliant and fearless woman who cares desperately about the causes she fights for and the people she loves. When Rebel applies herself to a fight she believes in, she will win at almost any cost.
Garcia will star as Maddie, who is eight months pregnant with a complicated pregnancy. She is Helen’s daughter, and is understandably terrified that her mother’s defective heart valve will kill her before the baby is even born.
Garcia was most recently seen in the Gus Van Sant Amazon film “Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot.” Her other film roles include “The Lost City,” “At Middleton,” “Free Ride,...

Krista Vernoff will be providing a full night of entertainment on ABC this March.
The Grey's Anatomy and Station 19 showrunner's new drama series will finally hit the air later this year.
But there's some bad news for fans of A Million Little Things:
Rebel has been handed the plum post-Grey's Anatomy slot that Amlt has called home since 2019.
As a result, Amlt will be returning to its old stomping grounds on Wednesdays beginning April 7.
The series was moved to Thursdays during its first season in an attempt to boost the ratings.
ABC also announced that Grey's Anatomy and Station 19 would no longer be returning on March 4 as planned.
The rejigged Thursday lineup kicks off Thursday, March 11.

(Warning: Spoilers ahead for “The Princess Switch: Switched Again.”)
Netflix is continuing what has now become an annual tradition of connecting its original Christmas movies with a special cameo featuring two key “A Christmas Prince” characters at the end of its Vanessa Hudgens-led “The Princess Switch” sequel.
In “The Princess Switch: Switched Again,” which launched Thursday, Duchess Margaret (Hudgens) is crowned queen of Montenaro, with many adoring friends and subjects in attendance, including her new husband, Kevin (Nick Sagar), her look-alike Stacy, a Chicago baker-turned-Belgravian princess who is also played by Hudgens, Stacy’s husband, Prince Edward (Sam Palladio), and her other look-alike, her scheming cousin Fiona.
But if you are paying attention to the other people in the crowd, you’ll notice three foreign royals cheering on Margaret in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment: Aldovia’s Queen Amber (Rose McIver), King Richard (Ben Lamb) and their new baby, Princess Elleri.

With Covid resurgence meaning that only the naughty are likely to risk large gatherings this holiday season, there will be even more reliance on home-viewing comfort food in the vein of “The Princess Switch: Switched Again.” Bringing back the same director, writers and lead actors from Netflix’s original 2018 success, this pleasant sequel provides the updated “Prince and the Pauper” conceit a new wrinkle in giving star Vanessa Hudgens yet a third lookalike character to play.
Though inevitably the formula wears a little thinner in spots this time, it’s a frothy fantasy that should satisfy viewers’ itch for confectionary-looking Christmas fluff. Netflix premieres the feature worldwide Nov. 19, and it should provide them with a year-end programming staple for some time to come.
As erstwhile Chicago baker Stacy (Hudgens) reminds us in opening-credits voiceover, when last seen she’d wound up a princess by catching the eye of Prince Edward...

Vanessa Hudgens is a triple threat in the new trailer for Netflix’s “The Princess Switch 2: Switched Again,” set to premiere on Nov. 19.
In “The Princess Switch” sequel, Hudgens will not only reprise her lead roles of Duchess Margaret and Princess Stacy, but also portray a third doppelganger, Margaret’s cousin Fiona. Rebel was one of five 2020 ABC pilots — all grounded by the coronavirus pandemic — that were selected by the network in June to shoot once production can resume safely. It joins two other projects from ABC’s 2020 pilot slate that have received straight-to-series orders for next this coming: David E. Kelley’s Big Sky, which already is filming in Vancouver, and Kari Lizer’s comedy Call Your Mother, which is also a Sony TV/ABC Signature co-production.
As a precursor to a straight-to-series order, ABC had commissioned a writers room for Rebel, which I hear has produced six scripts to date. The pickup...

AMC’s sci-fi drama Humans is powering down after three seasons, TVLine has confirmed. The series, which was also produced by the UK’s Channel 4, aired its final episode in July 2018.
“Sadly, there won’t be a 4th season of Humans,” reads a joint statement from creators Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley. “In this age of unprecedented choice and competition, we can have no complaints. Channel 4 & AMC were the perfect partners. They supported the show brilliantly and above all – let us make three seasons!”
The statement also addresses the series’ unfinished and open-ended conclusion: “We know we left some threads hanging.

Oh boy, my kids are going to love this. Netflix has released a trailer for their upcoming Christmas movie The Princess Switch. My kids enjoy watching these kinds of silly Hallmark Christmas movies, and that’s exactly what this is.
Vanessa Hudgens takes on two lead roles in the romantic comedy. She plays Margaret, the gorgeous Duchess of Montenaro as well as Stacy, who is a "commoner" from Chicago. Yes, it’s the kind of story where two people who look exactly alike switch places with each other.
Here’s the synopsis:
One week before Christmas, Margaret (Vanessa Hudgens), the gorgeous Duchess of Montenaro, switches places with Stacy (Vanessa Hudgens), a “commoner” from Chicago, who looks exactly like her. With the assistance of a magical Santa's helper, Margaret falls in love with Stacy’s handsome co-worker, while Stacy falls in love with Margaret's fiance, the dashing Prince.

"I think we were destined to run into each other." Netflix has released an official trailer for another switch-places cute comedy titled The Princess Switch, starring Vanessa Hudgens in the two main roles. The romantic comedy is about Margaret, the gorgeous Duchess of Montenaro, who switches with a "commoner" from Chicago. With the assistance of a magical Santa's helper, Margaret falls in love with Stacy's handsome co-worker, while Stacy falls in love with Margaret's fiance, the dashing Prince. This reminds me a bit of the concept for the holiday romance The Holiday, also about people who switch then fall in love. The Princess Switch also stars Alexa Adeosun, Suanne Braun, Mark Fleischmann, Sam Palladio, & Nick Sagar. As expected, this looks extra cheesy and extra sweet, so if that's what you're looking for - then jump right in. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Mike Rohl's The Princess Switch,...
