Building on the success of The Thundermans Return, which premiered ranking as cable’s #1 entertainment telecast of the year with kids, Nickelodeon Studios today announced a spinoff based on characters from the hit live-action superhero comedy.
The spinoff series will follow Phoebe and Max, who are sent undercover to handle a new threat in the seaside town of Secret Shores and bring Chloe along to develop her superhero talent. Production on the show will begin in Vancouver in August, with premiere details to be announced at a later date.
In the brand-new series, Chloe forms a bond with two classmates while they investigate suspicious activity coming from the local school, who don’t realize their new friend has secret powers. The Thundermans Return brought back superhero twins Phoebe (Kira Kosarin) and Max (Jack Griffo) to TV screens with an all-new adventure on Paramount+, delivering a strong dose of nostalgia. Timed to their return as Phoebe and Max (the film first dropped on March 7), Kosarin and Griffo stopped by TV Insider’s office to play a round of Nickelodeon trivia, as the original series, The Thundermans previously aired on the network. Along with playing “Knock Your Blocks Off” (which you can watch here), they offered some answers to trivia about animated favorites like Hey Arnold! and SpongeBob SquarePants, along with other titles. See, nostalgia all around! (Credit: James Dimmock / ©Nickelodeon / courtesy Everett Collection) Plus, do they know the real-life inspiration behind one iconic The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius character’s name? Find out for yourself in the video, above, as Kosarin and Griffo test their knowledge. As former Nick kids,...

The twin superheroes are back, and what better way to celebrate The Thundermans Return than to get to know the actors at its center a bit better? Kira Kosarin (Phoebe) and Jack Griffo (Max) stopped by TV Insider’s office, and we had them play “Knock Your Blocks Off” to do just that. Some questions in our Jenga trivia game were very TV-related. For instance, Kosarin, since she’s not single (ruling out Love Island), would want to be on Blown Away as a contestant. “There’s a Netflix show about glass blowers, and I’ve been wanting to learn how to blow glass, so I would want to be on that show and I would want them to teach me how to blow glass,” she explains. For her, the best running gag on TV comes from Community, Abed’s (Danny Pudi) breaking of the fourth wall. “It is a tricky one to do well,...

It’s been a long time since Kira Kosarin and Jack Griffo donned their Thundermans outfits and returned to the screen, but now with the release of The Thundermans Return, via both Paramount+ and Nickelodeon, fans of the long-standing series will have the opportunity to revel in their adventures yet again.
To mark the occasion we had the pleasure of speaking to the duo, as they talk about returning to the characters, the sets and what it has been like being reunited with their fellow cast-members. They also talk about the strength of their own relationship, both on and off screen, while looking across a life in the public eye and how they have navigated their way through a tricky environment. They also talk about the importance of ensuring the other young members of the cast ensure they have the same advice they once got, and the responsibility that comes with it.

When The Thundermans aired its final episode on Nickelodeon in 2018, it went out the way it came in five years before: as a laugh-track-studded, half-hour comedy about a family of superheroes living in a fictional suburb called Hiddenville. The jokes were plentiful. The vibes were warm. The pet bunny was evil. (More on that in a moment.)
But when the idea of a reunion movie first came up years later, says Kira Kosarin, who played Thunderman teen daughter Phoebe in the original series, things looked and felt a lot different.

"Invincible," the animated series based on the hit comic book series by "The Walking Dead" co-creator Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, was a major success for Prime Video. But what to read between seasons if you can't get enough of bombastic teenaged superheroics? Well, there are at least 14 different comic books that should scratch that itch, including both series that influenced "Invincible" as well as stories that have something to say about the world of superheroes — and the one we live in.
Of course, it goes without saying that one of the titles that should be on your reading list is "Invincible" itself. The series wrapped up in 2018, so it's a complete saga — just be aware that you'll be spoiling the rest of the animated series for yourself! That's hardly a problem, though; this is a story that's worth experiencing twice.

In the 1960s, Mort Weisinger ran more than a few stories speculating on what would happen had Superman and Batman married and had offspring, although no two stories were connected. Under Murray Boltinoff, World’s Finest Comics in 1973 began a series of stories about Clark Kent, Jr, and Bruce Wayne, Jr., which had its following. More recently, Superman and Lois had a son, Jonathan, while Batman met Damian, his biological son, grown in a test tube by Ra’s al Ghul. Once they established themselves, it was inevitable the youngster would be paired up and a series of entertaining Super Sons stories ran, mostly in the capable hands of writer Peter Tomasi.

Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons marks a couple of firsts, although they’ve had several print team-ups and their own comic, it’s the first on-screen pairing of the sons of DC’s biggest superheroes. It’s also the first of DC’s animated films to be completely done by computer, using the same styling as Marvel’s “What If” series.
It opens with a pre-credits recap of how Superman came to Earth, only with one small addition, which may seem puzzling, but will be explained later in the film. That’s followed by what is basically another origin story, that of Superboy, aka Jonathan Kent the son of Superman, and Lois Lane.

For a brief, glorious moment in the comics, Damian Wayne and Jon Kent were the next big thing in the DC Universe. Then Jon got aged up and sent to space, and Damian went off to Kumite Island to fight his grandma and they got split up. Oh well, that’s comics for you! In case you can’t tell, some folks are a little broken up about Super-Sons, the comic that followed young teen Superboy and Robin and was utterly delightful, ending.
But fortunately for those people, there’s a new chance to see Jon and Damian goof off: Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons, the new animated feature film coming to digital, Blu-ray and other home media formats on Oct. 18. And with its premiere coming at New York Comic Con at a main stage panel moderated by Den of Geek’s own Mike Cecchini, we’re...

Exclusive: Blue Fox Entertainment has taken the US rights to Paul A. Kaufman’s YA dramedy Butter. An autumn theatrical release is currently planned.
The movie tells the story of Butter (Alex Kersting), a smart, funny high school junior who happens to be obese. Butter manages to befriend the prettiest girl at school, Anna (McKaley Miller), via social media by pretending to be a jock from another school. Butter fears he can never tell Anna, his secret crush, who he really is – sure she would never accept him and his obesity. Meanwhile, Butter struggles with self-esteem and family issues, as his mother (Mira Sorvino) feels the only way she can show her love is by feeding him. Facing constant bullying at school, Butter finally devises a crazy plan: he announces he is going to eat himself to death, on New Year’s Eve, live on the Internet – with the whole school invited to watch.

Holy crap! Has SpongeBob Squarepants really been around for 20 years!? That’s just crazy to me, it seems just like yesterday when it first premiered!
To celebrate, Nickelodeon will have an hour-long 20th anniversary special called “SpongeBob’s Big Birthday Blowout.” It will be a live-action and animated special that will feature Tom Kenny (SpongeBob), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick Star), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy Cheeks) and Mr. Lawrence (Plankton) playing live-action versions of their animated characters. The special also features guest stars David Hasselhoff, Kel Mitchell (All That), Jack Griffo (The Thundermans) and Daniella Perkins (Knight Squad).
