- Vee (Vijaya) Kumari is known for HALWA, which received HBO's 2019 APAV award. Kumari was the executive producer and lead. The short film played at over 50 film festivals and received several awards. Recently, Vee completed the production of her second short film, titled "YATRA: Journey", the story of a grieving widow who goes on an epic journey into the mythical world of the Ramayana in search of two missing boys, and, while saving them, learns life lessons and finds resolution to her heartache.
Vee has also been a Co-Star in TV shows that include GLOW, Anger Management, Teachers, and Criminal Minds, among others.
Vee spent over three decades as a neuroanatomy professor, a neuroscience researcher, and, for ten of those years, as an Associate Dean for Medical Education at the University of California Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, CA. She has received many teaching awards during this period. In 2008, she moved to Los Angeles to be closer to her daughters and grandsons, and taught at USC Keck School of Medicine for five years. In 2012, she retired to pursue a career of acting and writing. She calls this "a journey from the left side of my brain to the right". She has two daughters.
