Michael A. Fry
- Additional Crew
- Producer
- Second Unit Director or Assistant Director
Michael Fry attended the University of North Carolina School of the Arts School of Filmmaking in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He graduated in 2012 and began his career as a Set Production Assistant on the Lionsgate Feature Film, The Hunger Games which was shot entirely in North Carolina.
After working on several other North Carolina and Georgia based productions including Legendary Entertainment's 42 and 20th Century Fox's The Internship, Fry decided it was time to make the big move out west. Without a job lined up or even a place to stay, he drove across the country to Los Angeles with little more than the shirt on his back. Luckily, through the thriving network of UNCSA alumni in Los Angeles, Fry was able to secure lodging. He spent the next four months sleeping on a tattered sofa in an apartment full of ragtag film industry misfits.
At long last Michael Fry found his first LA job as a Production Assistant at a title design company called Prologue Films. From there, Fry's career truly began to take off. He soon became an Executive Assistant at Gilbert Films where he coordinated delivery of the film Are You Here to distributor, Millennium Entertainment for domestic and international release. While with Gilbert films he also served as Assistant to the Producers on the Academy Award winning, La La Land. If you look closely you can even see Mr. Fry himself appearing as Emma Stone's golf cart driver toward the end of the film.
Michael Fry would continue to work with many more major production companies throughout his career such as Hasbro Studios and Platinum Dunes just to name a few.
