Avantika Nimbalker is an Indian-born production sound mixer and sound designer, who primarily works in the United States. She is best known for her work on Apple TV's documentary "Girls State" (2024), HBO's "Stand Up and Shout: Songs from a Philly High School" (2023), Netflix's documentary series "Harry & Meghan" (2022), and narrative feature film "Allswell in New York" (2022) among others.
Avantika started her career in narratives as a production sound mixer and ADR supervisor. Most of her documentary work is in America. She has worked on numerous projects including the Webby-award winning podcast-documentary "Chasing Cosby", "Ahead of the Curve", "Supreme Models", "Harriet Tubman: Visions of Freedom" and "$avvy" among others. As sound designer, Avantika's projects include "First Move" (Doc NYC), "Fierce,Funny & Fly" (New Orleans Film festival) and "Fearless". Her credits as lead production mixer for narratives include feature films "Allswell in New York" (Tribeca-2022) and "Shiv Shastri Balboa", short "A Period Piece" (SXSW), and comedy web-series "Metropark".
Avantika graduated from India's premier film school,The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in 2011, with an MFA in sound.
She is primarily interested in subjects involving women empowerment, mental health, climate change, culture and food. She is fluent in English, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, and Telugu.
