Anna Andersen is an award-winning actress known for her versatility and nuanced, layered performances. Her curiosity about the human condition has driven her to portray a diver range of characters.
She is best known for her work in films such as 'RAMONA' and 'SUMMER OF THE WOLF,' as well as TV shows like Amazon's 'MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL', HBO's 'LOVE LIFE', and NBC's mini-series 'MINISTRY OF EVIL' (2019). Anna has received multiple nominations and awards for her performances across film and theatre. Most recently, she won 'BEST PERFORMANCE' by an Actress for her role in 'SUMMER OF THE WOLF' at this year's Toronto International Couch Film Festival. Beyond her work in film and television, Andersen also has an extensive background as an accomplished singer and dancer.
Born in Southwest Florida to elementary school teachers, she is of Danish, Czech, Slavic, and Scottish descent. Anna began training as a singer and dancer at the age of nine, and by eleven, she started auditioning professionally and performing minor roles in local theatre productions. By high school, she had started her acting career, appearing in short films and various regional theatre productions. Her passion for performance extended beyond acting, as she continued to develop her craft through performing in operas, musicals, classical theatre, and symphonic concert work.
Throughout high school, she received several national awards in voice and eventually a talent scholarship to study Music Theatre at Oklahoma City University's Music Conservatory, where she honed her craft and further established herself as a versatile performer.
In 2016, Anna was involved in an accident while working a shift at a day job, which resulted in a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and a mild ongoing cognitive disability. The years following the accident were some of the most challenging in her life. During this time, she had to rebuild new ways of processing, learning, and functioning. Through ongoing treatment and cognitive therapy, Anna was later able to adapt and relearn her skills and continue pursuing her craft
As a neurodivergent actor, she is also an advocate for 'Seen & Unseen Disability Rights' and the inclusion of people with disabilities in the arts. She also spends time doing outreach for brain injury and mental health awareness within specialized learning and study programs in public schools.
