Well intentioned but ultimately unsuccessful

Warning: Spoilers
Long delayed sequel to "The Real Ghostbusters" picks up in the late 1990s, the original/Real Ghostbusters - Venkman, Stantz, Egon and Winston - have long since disbanded, seeing as how they eventually ran out of ghosts to bust and went their separate ways. Only Egon returns, now in his late 30s/early 40s, still living in the firehouse to monitor the containment unit, continue his study of the paranormal and working as a university teacher. When evil ghosts make a comeback, Egon recruits his students as new Ghostbusters, sporting a new look and a "hip" attitude; also returning are Slimer as their sidekick and Janine Melnitz as the secretary and Egon's love interest. The new kids are in no particular order -

Garrett - a wheelchair bound extreme sports enthusiast who took Egon's class hoping he could hear stories about Egon's days as a Ghostbuster, having been an admirer of the Ghostbusters all his life. Garrett is kind of meant to be the "Ray Stantz" figure with his energetic enthusiasm for his work and overall lust for life, though I'm still not sure a guy in a wheelchair can chase ghosts.

Eduardo - a cynical Hispanic slacker with a heart of gold buried deep beneath his sarcasm. He is clearly meant to be the "Peter Venkman" figure with his smart ass attitude. Had an unresolved love/hate relationship with Kylie. (trivia note: Eduardo is voiced by Rhino Romano, who later voiced Batman/Bruce Wayne on "The Batman")

Kylie - the only female member of the team, something of a Goth girl and the only one on the team to have any real understanding of the paranormal, which I guess makes her the "Egon Spengler" figure even though Egon himself is still around. Had a love/hate relationship going on with Eduardo.

Roland - a young black man who happens to be a mechanical genius and likable naive laid back kind of guy. Clearly meant to be the "Winston Zeddemore" figure, as Roland is black and from what we see the most "normal" of the new G-busters. (voiced by Carlton, Will Smith's cousin on "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air").

Obviously meant to be "The Next Generation" of the Ghostbusters mythos, and while I admit EX-GB did have its moments of greatness - usually provided by either Egon or Janine or both - it could never quite capture the magic of "The Real Ghostbusters", of which it was hopelessly trapped in the shadow of. One of the better episodes was without doubt the one where Venkman (Dave "Full House" Coulier, the second Venkman voice after the late Lorenzo "Garfield" Music), Ray (Frank Welker) and Winston (Buster Jones, the 2nd Winston after Arsenio Hall) came back to visit Egon and celebrate his birthday, thus giving us the old school VS new school and then ultimately join school team up.
