The film is capable of building tension, the main character is real and from the beggining it's easy for the audience to feel the story. However, in my opinion, the film fails in the attempt of mixing realism with surrealism (which i think was the goal). The dive remains much at the surface, which leads to the final twist not to be impactfull at all. The environment is well built, but it lacks a snap of surrealism.
At times, specially in the second half of the film, i was feeling that the direction could have been bolder, darker and distopian. Instead, it was a little predictable.
Maybe because this film was too personal, as the director stated, i'm curious to see the next features of him, as perhaps being more distant to the story will allow it to go weirderer. All the potential is there.
