In short, not enough demand. Although the series saw some distribution outside the United States, there was no post-network rerun syndication (as far as I can tell) within in the U.S. Fans of this series need to lobby hard to convince DVD distributors that "The Legend of Jesse James" TV-series has an audience and can sell on DVD. As a fan, I sincerely hope the original 35mm prints have survived these four decades in the Twentieth Century-Fox vaults and that some distributor somewhere will at least "test" the series by releasing just a few episodes on DVD. It may be the best we can hope for. I KNOW I AND MANY OTHERS ARE READY TO BUY!
