Around the same time as the so-called "Arab world" began to exist, at the time of the expulsion of Sephardic Jews from the Iberia peninsula. Islam's prior conflicts with the Roman Empire, followed by the Crusades, concomitant with incorporation of the Muslim religion into many cultures in the middle eastern region followed by the conflating of Islam with prior-to-Islam cultural practices of those societies, did not happen overnight, nor did it happen 1300 years ago: Mohammed's birth is not co-incident with the dominance of Islam in the populace of the Middle East. In point of fact, Jewish return to Palestine pre-dates the Holocaust (World War II) by several centuries: even Zionism (historically an Ashkenazi phenomenon) pre-dates the Holocaust by almost a century.
"Deadly Currents" is dead wrong on the facts about this aspect of the "Jewish-Palestinian" conflict.
