Mumbai, Dec 1: Actress Karisma Kapoor, who is choosy about her performances, bent the rules for Our Girl Our Pride, an initiative to empower the girl child. She said it's also a "tribute to all the ladies" from her family.

"It was a fabulous day and I strongly believe in the cause. I generally don't perform. I am quite choosy about it, but today I performed and paid tribute to all the Kapoor ladies, including (late grandmother) Geeta Bali, (aunt) Neetu Singh, and my mom Babita and sister Kareena supporting the cause," Karisma, known for her powerpacked performances in "Fiza" and "Zubeidaa", told Ians.

“In an Amitabh Bachchan film, there’s no other role which is better than his. In such a situation it’s only the negative role which is as good as his, so it’s best to go for the negative. I must say in films like Aks, Aarakshan or even Satyagraha now, the roles were written very carefully,” said Bajpai.

Set in the turbulence of the 1930s British India, Chittagong is a true story of a 14-year-old boy, Jhunku, and of his journey to find where he belongs.

The Centerpiece Film Hum Dono Rangeen will pay tribute to Dev Anand.

As the Sidebar, the festival will hold a Retrospective of Shyam Benegal followed by a post-screening discussion with the director. Three of Benegal’s films which were penned by journalist Khalid Mohamed will be screened: Mamoo (1994), Sardari Begum (1996), and Zubeidaa (2001).

Mumbai, Feb 3: Post the success of "The Dirty Picture", Vidya Balan has become the most wanted actress in the B-town and reportedly veteran Shyam Benegal wants to cast her.

Bengal approached her for his "Chamki Chameli" and Vidya is said to be taking her own time to get back to Benegal on the same.

When asked, Vidya refused to confirm it, merely saying, "no comments".

Benegal has delivered some outstanding films in his career, which include "Ankur", "Mandi", "Zubeidaa", "Welcome To Sajjanpur" and "Well Done Abba".

Apparently, Benegal had earlier approached Kareena Kapoor for the same film, but it didn't work out.

Mumbai, Dec 9: Actor Manoj Bajpayee, known for his versatility, has portrayed a character inspired by myhtological demon king Raavan in his next film 'Lanka'. But he says he does not believe in the word 'villain'.

'I don't do villainous or positive roles. I do human being roles. They are positive and negative both. If you say that I do only villain roles then your research is wrong,' Manoj told reporters here.

Well known Indian film maker Shyam Benegal will be in the “spotlight” at the 10th edition of the Belfast Film Festival, being held from April 15-30 in Belfast, Ireland.

The festival will screen Benegal’s “Zubeidaa” on the 26th of April and “The Making of the Mahatma” on 25th of April. He will also deliver a public lecture on April 22 and participate in the discussion on his films after screening.
