In perhaps the most damning evidence yet that Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon really are heading towards a divorce after six years of marriage, Nick has completely covered up his huge back tattoo that formerly read "Mariah."

Going shirtless after a recent workout in Studio City, Calif., Nick, 33, debuted an eye-catching new crucifixion tattoo where his former Mariah tattoo was.

Interestingly enough, Nick still had his huge Mariah tattoo two months ago, when it could prominently be seen during this shirtless video of him participating in the Als Ice Bucket Challenge posted on Instagram.

[1] A lot of the reviews I've read of this fall's new series seem to keep returning to the same theme: television comedy is making a comeback. That's definitely the case in this edition of TV Bits, which includes news about the cancellation of NBC's much-hyped drama The Playboy Club, and new sitcoms for AMC and Fox. Hit the jump for more. Each fall season, there are a couple new series that get marketed extensively and still manage to flop. (Remember how hard it was to escape ads for My Generation last year? And then how quickly that series died?) This time around, that show seems to be The Playboy Club, which NBC has cancelled after just three episodes. Exclusive: AMC is venturing into half-hour comedy with a presentation order to Rob Roy Thomas’ How To Cheat On Your Wife. The single-camera comedy, which Thomas is writing, directing and executive producing, centers on four nice guys in flyover country dealing with middle age. Thomas originally shot a short presentation for the project on his own about six months ago. In it, the four friends meet the day after they are reunited at the funeral of their first dead friend. After seeing that footage, AMC decided to put the comedy in development at the cable network and ordered a new presentation as part of that. Thomas, creator of Fox’s Free Ride and co-creator of NBC’s Significant Others, is now tweaking the idea and will executive produce the presentation with Marc Provissiero and Naomi Odenkirk.

It's a double homecoming for Jamila Hunter.

After a two-year stint as a comedy development executive at 20th Century Fox TV, Hunter is returning to her unscripted roots and going back to NBC where she started her career as an assistant a decade ago and then served as a longform and alternative programming exec from 2000-03.

Hunter is expected to join NBC in a newly created position of senior vp programming and development, alternative and digital.

She will report to Craig Plestis, exec vp alternative programming, development and specials; and Vivi Zigler, president of NBC Universal digital entertainment.

NBC has been experimenting with dual responsibilities under programming chief Ben Silverman. Earlier this year, the network merged its development and current series operations under drama and comedy heads Katie O'Connell and Jeff Ingold.

Additionally, the networks have been looking more to integrate their on-air and online programming efforts.

On the digital side, Hunter will oversee development of Web series. In alternative, she will shepherd the development of unscripted projects.

This is Hunter's second stint in NBC's reality department. As director and vp alternative programs from 2001-03, she oversaw such NBC series and specials as "Last Comic Standing," "TV's Most Outrageous Game Show Moments" and "The Cosby Show: A Look Back."

In 2003, Hunter moved to NBC's sibling cable channel Bravo, where she served as vp development and production and was involved in the launch of such hits as "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" and "Project Runway." She shepherded such series as "Project Greenlight," Kathy Griffin's Laugh Factory show "My Life on the D-List" and the improv comedy series "Significant Others."

Hunter made the switch from unscripted to scripted in 2005 when she left Bravo to become vp comedy development for 20th TV, where she worked with such producers as Darren Star, Steve Levitan and Ashton Kutcher.

Following her assistant gig in NBC's movies and miniseries department in the late 1990s, Hunter landed a job as a manager of development at Robert Greenwald Prods. before returning to NBC in 2000 as director and later manager of movies and miniseries.

Fox has given a presentation order to the untitled show, which stars Brendan Hines as a reluctant congressional candidate from Arizona who unexpectedly wins and goes to Washington.

Like Free Ride, the new show hails from Fox 21, 20th Century Fox TV's lower-budget programming division where Thomas has an overall deal.

Thomas, who also created Bravo's improv comedy series Significant Others, is repped by ICM and attorney Ken Richman.

Hines co-starred on the Fox comedy pilot If You Lived Here, You'd Be Home Now this past development season. The actor, whose credits include the indie Ordinary Sinner, is repped by TalentWorks and Sanders Armstrong Management.

Showtime is developing an hourlong drama with writer-producers Chris Keyser and Amy Lippman. The duo, whose credits include Party of Five and Sisters, have gotten a premium script order for an unorthodox series centering on a twentysomething man who must figure out what to do with his life upon learning that he has a form of cancer that will kill him within five years. Showtime declined comment. Keyser and Lippman will create, executive produce and write the untitled drama, with Shawn Levy (Cheaper by the Dozen) on board to direct the pilot. The project is set up at 20th Century Fox TV. The project marks a reunion for Keyser and Lippman with Showtime entertainment president Robert Greenblatt, who was instrumental in bringing Party to primetime as a development executive at Fox in 1994. Despite the dark subject matter, the drama is intended to have a humorous vein as the protagonist contends with putting the wraps on his personal ties and professional aspirations. Keyser and Lippman's credits also include Significant Others and Time of Your Life. Lippman and Levy are repped by Endeavor. Keyser is repped by ICM.

Bravo is going global with its reality formats as NBC Enterprises sets about bringing Bravo's upcoming series Queer Eye for the Straight Girl, as well as Significant Others and Showbiz Moms & Dads to the international television marketplace, it was announced Monday by Leslie Jones, NBC Enterprises' vp international sales and format production. "Following the overwhelming success that our international broadcast partners have enjoyed with Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, we are thrilled to now be offering them a fresh new take on this special formula," says Jones. "And Significant Others has been such an instant success for Bravo."...

CANNES -- As many executives started to trail out of Cannes as MIPTV wound down, the changeable weather during the first three days of the confab seemed to reflect the market's mood: overcast in places but with sunny patches breaking through. Most attendees agreed that the corridors of the Palais had seen a satisfactory level of traffic -- sellers' timetables seemed as busy as ever -- and there was a steady flow of announcements even if there were few standout deals. "Compared to the last couple of years, there's a really positive attitude," said Leslie Jones, vp international sales at NBC Enterprises. Jones reported a strong interest with deals pending on sex-therapy comedy Significant Others, documentaries Princess Diana: The Secret Tapes and Born Rich and its new format Knock First, from the creators of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. "And a lot of people are coming back for 'Queer Eye' because they've seen the ratings in Australia, where it's getting a 52% share in its key demographic," Jones said.
