"A Time For Killing" (also called "The Long Ride Home") isn't one of the best Westerns of all time, nor is it the most memorable, but the 1967 film still comes up in conversation thanks to its unique status as the very first movie role Harrison Ford was ever credited in. Ford played a young, sideburn-wearing Union soldier in the film, which followed the exploits of a group of captured Confederate soldiers on a mad dash for Mexico — none of whom realize the war has officially ended.
Aside from Ford's debut as Lieutenant Shaffer (for which he was credited as Harrison J. Ford), "A Time For Killing" is most noteworthy for its status as an abandoned Roger Corman flick. Corman started making "A Time For Killing" after already churning out cult classics like "A Bucket of Blood" and "The Little Shop of Horrors," but the low-budget filmmaker was replaced by "99 River Street...

Kelly Clarkson is the queen of music covers. On her talk show The Kelly Clarkson Show, the singer frequently performs unique covers of songs by other artists. During a recent episode The Kelly Clarkson Show, Clarkson covered Adele‘s song “Set Fire to the Rain.”

Only a vocalist like Kelly Clarkson can do a song like Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain” justice. On Tuesday’s episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the beloved singer and TV host sang a rockier rendition of the Adele classic.
Backed by her My Band Y’all, Clarkson hit Adele’s song with some strong vibrato as she held the high notes with some twangy vocals. “‘Cause there’s a side to you/That I never knew, never knew/All the things you’d say/They were never true,...

Liz McCann, a groundbreaking Broadway producer who, as one of the first and most successful women to achieve a prominent leadership role in the theater industry – a term she hated, preferring “theater community” — died Thursday of cancer at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. She was 90.
Her death was announced by her longtime associate and friend Kristen Luciani.
Elizabeth Ireland McCann — known throughout the Broadway community simply as Liz — started her career in theater as a production assistant and manager with Proscenium Productions at the Cherry Lane Theatre in the 1950s. In 1955, the company would be the first Off Broadway theater to win a Special Tony Award for its seminal productions of The Way of the World and Thieves’ Carnival.
Following a series of short-term theater jobs, McCann, who had acted in plays during her student years at Manhattanville College, completed a law degree at Fordham University. She later earned a...

We've seen on-screen stories about children being raised by wolves, but how about whales? Apparently it's a dream that director Jon Turteltaub is interested in making a reality. The National Treasure director is now attached to direct Beached, a new fantasy family movie set up over at Fox 2000. The film follows a "chubby four-year-old child" who falls off of a boat into the ocean during a family vacation. He is then rescued and raised by whales and he grows up to become an Olympic swimmer. THR says that the film has actually been in the works since 1997 and was originally written by Ted Griffin, whose credits include Steven Soderbergh's Ocean's 11, Matchstick Men, Rumor Has It... and the television series Terriers. He most recently wrote the screenplay for the Brett Ratner movie Tower Heist. Betty Thomas, who is best known for movies like 28 Days, Doctor Dolittle and Alvin and the Chipmunks...

Your last film went down well, too, and thanks to this momentum, men in suits are asking you to make films now, whereas previously all your work had been attained via a complex and degrading system of begging, selling your principles and lying in the foetal position outside film studios, weeping and yammering in desperate gibberish, until a passing producer took pity and on you and gave you a lowly job as second assistant director on a small film of questionable promise or merit.
So, you’ve finally made it, eh? Fantastic.

Taylor KitschUpon hearing the news that Taylor Kitsch ("Friday Night Lights," X-Men Origins: Wolverine) is being courted to star in Oliver Stone's next film, Savages, Cinematical's Jacob Hall posted an article asking "Is Taylor Kitsch the Next Sam Worthington?" And it makes sense. Kitsch has a similarly rugged and athletic look, and he's already set to star in two of 2012's biggest blockbusters: Battleship and John Carter of Mars. The latter is a Disney sci-fi epic being called "The Next Avatar" in some circles.
But, to me, the comparison to Worthington is to compare to the latest in a long line of fresh faces the major studios force down our throats, only for us to tire of them within a year or two. Perhaps Kevin Costner has lined up a film worth watching after the dismal Swing Vote last year and films such as Mr. Brooks, The Guardian and Rumor Has It... rounding out his last four films. However, an indie feature with Tommy Lee Jones sounds interesting as the two will star in The Company Men, joining the already cast Ben Affleck . The film is described as a drama about the impact a corporate downsizing has on both its casualties and survivors. Affleck plays a corporate hotshot whose Porsche and six-figure salary vanish after he gets laid off. Costner plays his brother-in-law, a salt-of-the-earth drywall installer who gives him a construction job. Jones plays a senior partner in the firm, a principled man who struggles with the greedy actions of his partners. John Wells wrote the script and will direct. Production begins in April in Boston. Pitt Confirms Relationship and Baby
After a year of speculation, Brad Pitt's publicist has confirmed the actor is dating Angelina Jolie, by releasing a statement from both of them confirming the actress is pregnant. The Hollywood couple have been regularly photographed with Jolie's adopted children Maddox and Zahara over the past year, but both have refused to confirm the nature of their relationship. The couple have always vehemently denied they became romantically involved on the set of Mr. And Mrs. Smith in 2004, while Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston. After weeks of rumors of Jolie's pregnancy, America's People magazine quoted the actress as telling a charity worker in the Dominican Republic, "Yes, I'm pregnant." Jennifer Aniston found herself in the hot seat during a recent taping of CNN's Larry King Live when the veteran broadcaster relentlessly questioned her about her rumored romance with Vince Vaughn. The Rumor Has It star was on the show, which will air in America tonight, with British actor Clive Owen to promote their new movie Derailed when King turned up the heat. But a squirming Aniston wasn't about to reveal anything. Giggling awkwardly when King started asking about the rumors, Aniston said, "God, I'm getting out of here." And when the inquisitive host refused to let up with his line of questioning, the actress simply repeated the chat show king's words as he said, "Vince Vaughn, we love him," and "He's a national treasure." But when King asked if the romance is serious, smiling Aniston just shook her head and said, "I'm not talking about it, I'm not talking about it... It sounds harsh to say 'it's none of your business' (but) you learn your lessons, that's all."...

Aniston: "Silence During Break-Up Was Like Being Gagged"
Jennifer Aniston struggled to keep quiet during the break-up of her marriage to Brad Pitt, because talking is her therapy. The Rumor Has It star, whose divorce from Pitt was finalized last weekend, would normally have wanted to share her feelings, but was obliged not to say too much about what was happening in order to keep her personal life private. Aniston, 36, says, "It's so hard, it's almost the impossible - not talking about anything. I don't abide well to gag orders. I'm a talker. I think it's a beautiful trait when people are not micro-managing every corner of their life. But there is a boundary. I've learned my lessons throughout the years on when that line gets crossed and how that can be used against you and can backfire."...

Hollywood actress Jennifer Aniston is expected to spectacularly slam former husband Brad Pitt in a revealing television interview with Diane Sawyer. The former Friends star spoke publicly of her heartache for the first time to Vanity Fair - claiming Troy star Pitt lacks a "sensitivity chip" - but she is now determined to broadcast her feelings on the small screen. A source tells British newspaper the Daily Mirror, "She's spoken about the split to a magazine but feels she can explain her side of the story better on TV." The actress has two films coming out before the end of the year -- thriller Derailed opposite Clive Owen, and comedy Rumor Has It, co-starring Kevin Costner and Shirley MacLaine.

Aniston's Movie Back on Track
The cast and crew on Jennifer Aniston's upcoming movie are finally in a pleasant working environment, after a string of controversies affecting production. The movie began production in July with Ocean's Eleven writer Ted Griffin directing. But he was abruptly dismissed by Warner Bros just eight days into shooting, following rumors that Aniston was unimpressed with the quality of the comedy, and that leading man Kevin Costner and Griffin had many angry clashes. Rob Reiner then stepped in to take over the Griffin-penned movie - appropriately called Rumor Has It - and Tony Bill's part was cut, with Shirley MacLaine and Mena Suvari remaining. Mark Ruffalo, who also stars in the film, says, "It's a different movie, and it's taking a certain amount of acclimation to find my way in it, but I feel good with it. I love Ted, and I love the old script, but this is equally as good a project." The project is an update of classic movie The Graduate, which focuses on a young woman, played by Aniston, who finds out her grandmother, played by MacLaine, was the basis for the famous Mrs. Robinson character from the 1967 original film.

Costner Behind Director Firing
Director Ted Griffin was fired from his new movie, formerly known as the Untitled Ted Griffin Project, by Warner Bros after clashing with star Kevin Costner, according to insiders. The Oscar-winning star, who is shooting a 'sort-of-sequel' to the 1969 movie The Graduate with Jennifer Aniston, was "constantly criticizing" the first-time film-maker - culminating in him being fired, according to gossip site Fly On The Wall. A source says, "It's totally Costner's fault, not Jennifer's. He was constantly in Ted's face about what he was doing wrong, criticizing him repeatedly about his setups in front of Paula Weinstein (one of the film's producers). He said several times loudly to anyone who would listen, 'This movie will take a year to shoot if you don't get rid of Ted.' It was more and more difficult for Ted to maintain any kind of respect from his crew with Costner constantly bitching at him around the clock. Finally, Ted asked Costner rather firmly, but not loudly, to return to his trailer. Costner screamed, 'I will not. Not until you change the lighting set-up like I told you." Costner's dominant approach on set reportedly riled co-star Shirley MacLaine who commented to fellow actress Mena Suvari, "There once was a time when actors respected their director." To which Costner retorted to MacLaine, "You keep out of this." Meanwhile Aniston was apparently "very sweet" to Griffin while he was director, but preferred to remain in her trailer to rehearse her lines when not required on set.
