Killing Breed pits a family, desperately fighting for survival at an isolated Outback lodge, against a raging bushfire, out of control and consuming everything in its path, and three savage dogs, trained to kill and now unleashed into the wild.

Architect is handling worldwide sales and has launched the film to buyers ahead of the American Film Market. Pic is due to shoot in Australia in May 2025 and was developed with the financial assistance of the South Australian Film Corporation.

During the era of network television, shows used to have a shelf-life of at least 10 seasons. Some TV series that were made before the Ott boom continue to enjoy the freedom to adapt and improve over the course of many years, but the same can’t be said about made-for-ott shows, especially the ones on Netflix. Yes, “guilty pleasure content” like Emily in Paris and Elite has benefited from the hate-watch syndrome. However, a lot of really good shows have been unceremoniously axed by the streaming platform before they could find their audience. The one cancellation that hurt viewers the most was Mindhunter. After two movies and two seasons of a TV series, Outback murderer Mick Taylor will return in Wolf Creek: Legacy, recently announced as both the third installment and something of a reboot of Greg McLean’s horror franchise. But have no fear, John Jarratt is back as Mick Taylor.

What can we expect from Wolf Creek: Legacy? Speaking with David Clair-Bennett for his YouTube channel this week, John Jarratt teased a tone more in line with the original Wolf Creek.

“It’s dark and creepy again,” Jarratt teases. “It’s more like the first one. With the second one, we had a bit of fun. Cracked a few jokes. For this one, the dark creepy thing is the ultimate when it comes to playing Mick. Just creeping up and being scary.”

Production is under way in Australia’s Victoria state on War Machine, a new sci-fi action thriller film from Lionsgate and Netflix.

Produced, directed, and co-written by Patrick Hughes, “War Machine” follows the final 24-hours of the world’s toughest selection program, as a team of Army Rangers encounter a threat beyond their imagination.

“Reacher” star Alan Ritchson heads a cast that also includes Dennis Quaid, Stephan James (“The Piano Lesson”), Jai Courtney (“The Suicide Squad”) and Esai Morales (“Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One”) as well as Australian actors Blake Richardson (“Mystery Road: Origin”), Keiynan Lonsdale (“The Flash”) and Daniel Webber (“The Dirt”) also have credits.

2005’s Wolf Creek remains one of the most vicious horror films of the 2000s. Taking inspiration from the fact that hundreds of people go missing in Australia every year, the film starred John Jarratt as serial killer Mick Taylor, who preyed on unsuspecting hikers in the Australian Outback. The film spawned a sequel, Wolf Creek 2, but the less we say about that one, the better.

Deadline now reports that Wolf Creek is due for a reboot. Wolf Creek: Legacy is heading into production in early 2025 and original director Greg Mclean is producing. The film will be directed by Sean Lahiff, who edited Wolf Creek 2.

The upcoming exorcism-themed horror film from Emu Creek Pictures and Helium is said to be “a spellbinding fusion of religious and supernatural events set in Biblical times.”

In The First Exorcist, “A mother goes on a harrowing quest to save her daughter from demonic possession. As their lives descend into a nightmare, the mother learns of a mysterious healer with the power to expel demons, and embarks on a dangerous race against time – encountering hostile Roman authorities on her perilous mission to find the healer.”

Deadline notes in today’s report, “The plan is to use cutting edge virtual production tech in Victoria to bring epic ancient cities and locations to life.”

Back in April, we heard that Greg McLean, the director of the horror films Wolf Creek, Wolf Creek 2, Rogue, The Darkness, and The Belko Experiment (as well as the survival thriller Jungle), had signed on to direct the action horror movie Graveyard Smash from a screenplay by Old Henry and Would You Rather writer Gus Krieger… and while that project is expected to start filming this year, McLean is already looking ahead to his next project, as Deadline reports that he will be writing and directing a supernatural thriller called The First Exorcist, with production to take place in Victoria, Australia sometime in 2025.

Radioactive is set to give the horror comedy The Red, a feature expansion of director Ryan Coonan’s 2014 short film Waterborne, a theatrical release across Australia and New Zealand on October 31st, with a press release also promising that the film will arrive in the United States sometime during “the spooky season.” We don’t have a date for any releases outside Australia and New Zealand, but we do have a trailer for the film, and you can check that out in the embed above.

At the heart of The Red is Rippy, the giant Zombie Kangaroo. “Rippy is your average bloke by day, and a terrifying Zombie Kangaroo by night.” Rippy is joined in the cast by Tess Haubrich (Wolf Creek season 2), Angie Milliken (MDA), and Michael Biehn (The Terminator), with Haubrich taking on the role of young police officer Maddy, who is determined to live up to her deceased father’s legacy.

We have a good-news-bad-news situation for diehard horror fans and physical media collectors. The good news is that Bloody Disgusting is releasing an awesome line of SteelBooks for seven popular Lionsgate movies this summer. It's difficult to define what makes a film "underrated," but in the landscape of slasher movies, the Australian franchise "Wolf Creek" is my go-to answer for "most underrated." It does seem strange to give the series that distinction considering there are two "Wolf Creek" feature films, a two-season television continuation series, two novels, and a rumored third film currently in development, but the average movie fan has no idea what "Wolf Creek" is or why John Jarratt's Mick Taylor is one of the scariest killers out there. And yet, the series has continued on and expanded in the ways that it has because it's genuinely terrifying.

The whereabouts of what many deem the “world’s most prolific killer” — a decades-old Nile crocodile named Gustave who allegedly claimed somewhere between 200 and 300 human lives — are murky nowadays. Some say Burundi’s most infamous reptile is long gone, and others demand proof of his passing. Lily Sullivan earned a lot of horror-loving fans with her performance in last year’s Evil Dead Rise, writer/director Lee Cronin’s addition to the Sam Raimi-created Evil Dead franchise. Those horror-loving fans are going to have a new Sullivan film to check out soon, when Well Go USA gives a theatrical and digital release to Monolith on February 16th – and with just a month to go before that date arrives, a trailer for the film has arrived online. The feature directorial debut of Matt Vesely, who has 15 years of short film credits on his filmography, Monolith was written by Lucy Campbell. This is Campbell’s first feature writing credit, following multiple script editor and script coordinator credits on projects like the Wolf Creek TV series, Wanted, Pine Gap, The Hunting, Upright, Stateless, A Sunburnt Christmas, Firebite, and Aftertaste.

2024 marks the 20th edition of the festival.

Stan, the Australian streaming service owned by Nine Entertainment, has renewed its content supply partnership with Lionsgate. The multi-year output agreement secures a slate of first-run premium scripted dramas from Starz and Lionsgate and a new slate of theatrical films exclusive to Australian audiences.

The agreement follows Stan’s renewal last year of a deal with Sony Pictures Television.

Headlining the new shows expected to flow from the Lionsgate deal is espionage drama “Gray,” starring Patricia Clarkson (“Six Feet Under”), Nathalie Emmanuel (“Game of Thrones”) and Rupert Everett (“My Best Friend’s Wedding”) which is based on an original concept by bestselling novelist David Baldacci.
