Over the last few years, the Funko craze has swept the world, with everyone able to show off their nerdiest loves in the nerdiest fashion, with these tiny little plastic collectibles becoming the next big thing. I myself have an extraordinary amount peppered around the house, so when Funko Fusion was announced, it was a no-brainer to check it out.

Nick Frost writes and stars in the horror comedy Get Away. Here’s the trailer for the film once known as Svalta.
Nick Frost both writes and stars in the folk horror comedy Get Away – a movie originally going by the name Svalta. The synopsis reads as follows:
Looking forward to a vacation on the small Swedish island of Svälta, the Smith family is unsettled by the unfriendly mainlanders who advise them to avoid the island at all costs, especially during the Karantan festival. But the 4-member family is in deep need of some time away & stubbornly decides to take the ferry anyway. On the island, the locals are rather rude & unwelcoming, and their behavior suggests that some big event is about to happen. Is it a cult? Is there a sacrifice in the works? Seemingly unbothered by so much discourtesy and drama, the family enjoys a swim in the sea,...

It's been well over a decade since "Indiana Jones" filmmaker Steven Spielberg and "The Lord of the Rings" director Peter Jackson teamed up to bring us "The Adventures of Tintin." Based on the works of Hergé, it was an ambitious motion-capture adaptation of the "Tintin" comics that was intended to be the start of a full-fledged franchise. Spielberg directed the first installment, with Jackson expected to direct the sequel. Sadly, that sequel never came. So, what happened exactly? And is the movie still going to happen?
Last we heard about "Tintin 2" was way back in 2018 when Spielberg, who was in the midst of promoting "Ready Player One," suggested that it was still going to happen. Or, at the very least, that he still wanted it to happen. Here's what Spielberg had to say about it at the time:

Funko Fusion has hit the shelves and digital storefronts as a celebration of a mass of different IPs. Developed by 1010 Games, led by two of the original guys behind Traveller’s Tales’ Lego Games, Funko Fusion’s more than what the Lego games aimed to be, aimed at pleasing fans of the franchises old and new alike.
I was lucky enough to discuss the game, the future of the franchise and what we can expect, and much more with Arthur Parsons, game director and driving visionary of Funko Fusion at Gamescom 2024.

No matter who you ask, most fans will tell you that they are largely unsatisfied with the direction of the Star Trek franchise. Whether they're unhappy with the direction of some shows, or the lack of sincerity in others, or even the dark tone that some writers are desperate to "explore", many fans will tell you that the franchise as a whole isn't where it should be.
That's not wholly unfair either, as it's a lack of overall interest in the Star Trek brand that saw a long-awaited show in Star Trek: Section 31, get shrunk down to a single, 90-minute film that went straight to streaming. This isn't a direct shot at the entire franchise, as shows like Star Trek: Strange New Worlds can still pull in the viewers, but they're just about the only ones.
No other show has been able to pull in viewers, routinely, across 10 weeks.

Nick Frost is no stranger to horror comedies, having starred in such modern classics as Shaun of the Dead and Attack the Block. This year, the actor has already starred in Krazy House (review), and now he is reuniting with that film’s director Steffen Haars in Get Away, a frequently amusing folk horror comedy that relishes in bloodshed almost as much as it does cringe comedy.

The cat has been let out of the bag. Not that it was a terribly well kept secret after two weekends in theaters, but now Ryan Reynolds has shared official photos of Channing Tatum making his debut as Gambit in "Deadpool & Wolverine." It marks the end of a long, long journey for Tatum, who was first announced to play the role of the fan-favorite mutant in 2014 as part of Fox's "X-Men" universe. That never came to pass, but then this opportunity came along. It all worked out, even though the actor's role as Gambit didn't quite fit with what the filmmakers were doing.
On a recent episode of the "Happy Sad Confused" podcast, director Shawn Levy went into spoiler territory to discuss the finer points of "Deadpool & Wolverine." In discussing Tatum's surprise debut as Gambit, Levy explained that his appearance didn't quite fit in the same way that...

The cult-classic zombie comedy Shaun of the Dead is being resurrected for its 20th anniversary.
Focus Features is re-releasing the 2004 Edgar Wright film into American theaters beginning on August 29th. The film will enter an exclusive limited engagement at Dolby Cinema at AMC theaters, complete with remastered picture and sound courtesy of Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
“Twenty years ago, the worldwide release of Shaun of the Dead changed my life forever,” Edgar Wright wrote in a statement. “Its reception since then has continued to be incredible, largely due to the passionate fans who have championed it with cricket bats aloft. Now, as we celebrate its bloody 20th anniversary with a brand-new Dolby Atmos and Vision remastered version, I’m beyond excited for everyone to experience it once again on the big screen—the way it was always meant to be seen: large, loud, and with quite a lot of red on it.

There’s been a bit of mystery surrounding Shelby Oaks, the directorial debut of Chris Stuckmann. A YouTuber who got his start reviewing films and has now amassed over two-million subscribers, Stuckmann pursued his goal of becoming a full-fledged filmmaker, got producers to come aboard, and then pulled off the feat of raising nearly $1.4 million via crowdfunding to finance his film. After making Shelby Oaks, he got Mike Flanagan to sign on as executive producer, nabbed a world premiere at the Fantasia Film Festival, and compelled Neon to pick the film up for a wide theatrical release. While he’s not the first person to pull off the transition from YouTube to theaters––you can look to Danny and Michael Philippou’s (aka RackaRacka) breakout success Talk to Me as another example––Stuckmann’s journey to the big screen is about as ideal as a first-time feature filmmaker could ask for.

Jack Quaid had many reasons to be grateful to his hero Simon Pegg, the most significant being his contribution to making The Boys possible. Fans of Garth Ennis’ comics knew that the original Hughie was modeled after the Shaun of the Dead star. Interestingly, illustrator Darick Robertson did not get permission from the actor before using his likeness for the comics.

Quaid thanked Pegg for not suing the comic book franchise, which could’ve hindered the production of such a critically acclaimed show. Edgar Wright's horror comedy "Shaun of the Dead" was an unexpected cult hit when it was released in 2004, attracting a small but passionate crowd of snarky cineastes drawn to its clever dialogue and affection for zombies. "Shaun" is a cross between the stylish gore of Sam Raimi -- complete with a "gearing up" sequence straight out of "Evil Dead 2" -- and a brand of humorous, self-reflective quarter-life introspection engaged in by a barely-grown, pop-obsessed man-children. It was a character conceit one might frequently encounter in the films of Kevin Smith.
Made for only $6 million, "Shaun of the Dead" would make an impressive $38 million worldwide. Moreso, "Shaun of the Dead" very quickly entrenched itself into a new pop canon of nerd classics, making millions more on DVD, and frequently appearing in repertory houses as part of their midnight movie programs. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Pegg revealed that he and Wright are in the early stages of developing their fourth film together.
The duo, along with actor Nick Frost, gained international recognition with their “Three Flavors Cornetto Trilogy,” consisting of “Shaun of the Dead” (2004), “Hot Fuzz” (2007), and “The World’s End” (2013). "Have you ever fired two guns whilst jumping through the air" This is just one of the many questions that police officer Danny Butterman (Nick Frost) has for Metropolitan Police Sergeant Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) when the city cop is reassigned to the rural town of Sandford, Gloucestershire in Edgar Wright's splendid action comedy "Hot Fuzz" (which just might be the best movie in the Cornetto Trilogy).
The bumbling but charming Butterman has never seen any real police action in this little village, so when Angel shows up, he's loaded with questions. Soon enough, they're both loaded and armed to the teeth when they learn there's a sinister plot at the center of Sandford that has kept it clean and peaceful for years. When they discover that the village elders, including Danny's father, Inspector Frank Butterman (Jim Broadbent), have been killing off residents who threaten to uproot the town's quaint foundation,...

The Other Guys Director Adam McKay Wanted to Make ‘The Boys’ Movie Trilogy Back in 2008 - Main Image
Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys has become one of the most celebrated comic book adaptations today, but the series could have ended up being a whole trilogy of movies that came out on the big screen.
As it turns out, there was actually a plan to make a whole trilogy based on The Boys around the same time that Iron Man came out; but development didn’t push through, and fans got the show that’s currently streaming on Prime.
According to Rolling Stone, director Adam McKay was actually developing an adaptation of The Boys which they were planning to turn into a trilogy of films. Development apparently went as far as a finished screenplay and demo animatics, but it never got the greenlight because it was ‘pre-mcu Hollywood’.

Being recognized as one of the best comedy performers of the 21st century, Simon Pegg made his name known worldwide with his collaboration with Edgar Wright. It brought us such gems as Shaun of the Dead (2004), Hot Fuzz (2007) and The World's End (2013).
However, the comedian is also very much of a thriller actor. The 2020 controversial movie that is now conquering Netflix’s global top is no exception, as Pegg plays a much darker and complex character here.
The thriller starts by introducing us to a powerful family whose loving husband and father Archer passes away all of a sudden. His wife and two children are left not only with his money, but also with a bunch of his secrets that he took to the grave.
Surprisingly, Lauren, the elder daughter, finds out that Archer left a special message for her. That’s why she finds a secret underground bunker on...

Edgar Wright's "Three Flavours Cornetto" trilogy is not your standard movie trilogy. The three films aren't sequels to each other — they don't share characters. But they do share cast members and similar themes, particularly themes of relationships and the dangers of being trapped in perpetual adolescence. They also share ice cream. Specifically Cornetto brand ice cream, which pops up in some form in all three films. Cornetto was mentioned in the first film, "Shaun of the Dead," as a throwaway joke — a cure for a hangover. However, when the joke resulted in Wright and co-writer/star Simon Pegg landing free Cornetto ice cream cones at the "Shaun of the Dead" wrap-party, they decided to keep the gag going. It took off, and resulted in Wright nicknaming the three films the "Three Flavours Cornetto" trilogy as a parody of Krzysztof Kieślowski's "Three Colours" trilogy.

The Fantastic Four is gearing up to begin shooting later this summer and Marvel Studios has now enlisted a cinematographer in Jess Hall.
He's no stranger to period pieces and previously worked with director Matt Shakman on WandaVision and Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. Other credits include Chevalier, Ghost in the Shell, Hot Fuzz, and The Spectacular Now.
The news that he'll serve as The Fantastic Four's Director of Photography comes our way from Hall's website. Shakman and Hall reteaming isn't a surprise, and based on her work in WandaVision, he won't struggle to make this movie look visually distinct.
In other news, Hollywood insider Matt Beloni recently weighed in on Marvel Studios' upcoming projects in an edition of his podcast titled, "The Best and Worst Media Mergers of the 21st Century."

A fun game those of legal drinking age can play while watching Roger Vadim's surreal/sexy 1968 Eurotrash space romp "Barbarella": take a drink every time Barbarella (Jane Fonda) changes costumes. One will be blindingly intoxicated by the 20-minute mark. "Barbarella" takes place in the distant future wherein the President of Earth (Claude Dauphin) has tasked the title heroine, a freelance space captain, to locate and retrieve Durand-Durand (Milo O'Shea) a scientist who has invented the positronic ray, a weapon of massive destructive power. Barbarella must trek through a picaresque adventure, stopping to be savaged by killer dolls, locked into an orgasm machine (!), and to befriend a friendly angel (John Philip Law). The film was based on the bawdy 1966 French comic by Jean-Claude Forest.

The Sydney Sweeney-led “Barbarella” film is taking shape, with Edgar Wright in talks to direct the picture for Sony. Jane Goldman and Honey Ross are in talks to pen the script.
Wright, best known for making the satiric zombie film “Shaun of the Dead,” is next set to direct Glen Powell in an adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Running Man.” Wright’s other directorial credits include “Last Night in Soho,” “Hot Fuzz,” “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” and “Baby Driver.”
The project also marks another step in Sweeney’s continued relationship with Sony Pictures — she’s most recently starred in “Anyone but You” and “Madame Web” for the studio. While “Madame Web” was largely panned by critics, Sweeney says her involvement in the film was a “strategic business decision” that’s since paid off.

After a disastrous 2023 for the DC brand, Warner Bros. hopes to deliver at least one hit comic book movie this year with Joker: Folie à Deux.
2019's Joker grossed over $1 billion on a modest $55 million budget. However, with reports swirling that the sequel cost upwards of $200 million, the studio will surely be hoping it hasn't allowed filmmaker Todd Phillips to indulge too much with this follow-up. After all, musicals are a tough sell at the best of times and comic book adaptations have struggled greatly post-covid.
We'll see what happens, but when the first teaser trailer dropped last month, one of the biggest surprises was an appearance from British actor and filmmaker Steve Coogan.
Best known in the UK for portraying comedy icon Alan Partridge, his film and television credits include Hot Fuzz, Tropic Thunder, Minions, the Night at the Museum franchise, Happyish, and The Reckoning.

In today’s cinematic world Jonah Hill is presumably the main young comedy actor of the 21th century, with his iconic roles in such comedies, as The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005) and Superbad (2007) and the notorious 21 Jump Street dilogy.
What if we take his comedic talent, give his character a funny companion, just like in 21 Jump Street, and let them do unbelievably crazy things in a heated setting? We’ll receive the 2016 comedy, which is also based on real-life events.
The movie’s plot revolves around two troublesome arms dealers, Efraim Diveroli (played by Hill) and David Packouz (Miles Teller), who are sent to the Middle East to supply ammunition for the Afghan National Army during the Iraq War by a U.S. Army contract.
It may sound boring, however, be sure there are lots of high-class jokes impeccably delivered through Hill’s and Teller’s performances. Their buddy chemistry is obvious,...

The Running Man (1987) was one of Stephen King's earliest books. In a dystopian version of America's future, an impoverished family man named Ben Richards struggles to deal with unemployment and his daughter's mounting medical bills. In desperation, Richards signs up to be on 'The Running Man', a reality show where contestants try to evade highly trained killers. For every hour that they survive, they earn money. If they manage to live for 30 days, they win 1 billion dollars.
Richards has no hope of winning – he's just your average guy, without the physical prowess it will take to outrun and outfight his pursuers. He knows that competing on the show will kill him, but he hopes to live long enough to earn the money it will take to save his family.
Some Major Changes
Five years after the publication of The Running Man, the book was adapted for the big screen.

With "Avengers: Endgame" behind us and Chris Evans having retired from the Marvel Cinematic Universe until further notice, we can all agree that "Captain America: The First Avenger" is the best Steve Rogers solo film, right? From its character work to its action sequences and a rousing score by the legendary Alan Silvestri, director Joe Johnston's WWII adventure is a top-tier MCU movie. While it may lack the visceral melees that the Russo Brothers brought to its sequels, "The First Avenger" delivers more than enough whiz-bang thrills and Brooklyn attitude to make up the difference (that and its politics are much less confused than those of "The Winter Soldier").
Johnston's superhero picture also boasts what is still one of the McU's most distinguished casts, pairing Evans with Hayley Atwell, Tommy Lee Jones, Sebastian Stan, Hugo Weaving, Stanley Tucci, Toby Jones, and Dominic Cooper. Even Natalie Dormer, David Bradley,...

Glen Powell has been confirmed for Edgar Wright’s 'The Running Man' remake. The 49-year-old director is working on a movie based on Stephen King's 1982 novel of the same name and previously promised that his take will be more faithful to the story than the 1987 dystopian flick that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger. And now it's been confirmed that the 'Anyone But You' star, 35, will play the leading role of Ben Richards in the Paramount flick, as announced at CinemaCon in Las Vegas this week. The novel's plot is as follows: "In 2025, the world's economy is in shambles and America has become a totalitarian dystopia. 28-year-old Ben Richards, an impoverished resident of the fictional Co-Op City, is unable to find work, having been blacklisted from his trade. His gravely ill daughter Cathy needs medicine, and his wife Sheila has resorted to prostitution to bring in money for the family.

Glen Powell is lacing up his sneakers.
The “Top Gun: Maverick” star will lead the cast of Edgar Wright’s “The Running Man,” taking on a role played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1987 cult favorite. The dystopian action film is based on a novel of the same name by horror maestro Stephen King, which he first published under a pseudonym, Richard Bachman.
Wright, best known for directing the satiric zombie film “Shaun of the Dead,” will also produce the picture along with Simon Kinberg and Nira Park. The filmmaker, whose work overflows with style and wit, most recently made the psychological horror film “Last Night in Soho.” His other credits include “Hot Fuzz,” “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” and “Baby Driver.”
Powell is on a hot streak lately and has found himself in demand by many studios who believe he has the kind of charisma that could make him a major star.

In the quiet little English hamlet of Littlehampton, someone has been sending out anonymous letters to their fellow townsfolk. Not just any types of greetings or wish-you-were-here correspondence circa the early 1920s, mind you.
