A surprisingly clever riff on a familiar recipe, Prime Video’s “House of Spoils” seems like a dark fairy tale you could make better yourself — at first. Part “The Bear” and part “The Witch,” this supernatural horror outing follows a nameless Chef (Ariana DeBose) in an allegory about ambitious women that lacks bite but isn’t without its own special sauce.
Writer/directors Bridget Savage Cole and Danielle Krudy broke out with their tenacious crime thriller “Blow the Man Down” in 2019 and show a well-earned confidence in this imperfect but still occasionally enchanting first-time genre effort. The duo’s second feature builds on a bare-bones concept that feels more rudimentary than rustic much of the time, and yet, the filmmakers’ decisive presentation is enjoyable enough as an entrée served straight to streaming.

Martha Stewart Alleges Real Reason Why She & Ina Garten Lost Touch, Calls It 'Extremely Distressing'
Martha Stewart and Ina Garten are making headlines.
The pair go way back, as two women who took the cooking and hosting worlds by storm in the 1990s. While Ina was working and living in the Hamptons, Martha purchased a home there in 1990. Later that year, Martha‘s magazine published its first ever copy, and included a write up on Ina, who was a local fan fave at the time.
Years later, Martha‘s production company ended up getting Ina a Food Network show. The show didn’t pan out, and Ina instead ended up on the Food Network in the early 2000s, hosting her show, the Barefoot Contessa.
In a new profile for the New Yorker, Ina recalled how she and Martha eventually lost touch.

I was physically afraid of him. And my mother just was unsupportive.” Born in Brooklyn, New York, Garten moved with her family to Stamford, Connecticut, where she grew up with her older brother, Ken, who was also a victim of their father’s abuse. Reflecting on her childhood, the Barefoot Contessa host revealed she spent most of her time locked up in her bedroom. “If there’s a threat of violence, you’re always afraid,...

Ina Garten first rose to fame through her Food Network TV show, Barefoot Contessa. Garten’s comforting tone and heartwarming recipes helped her amass a substantial audience — plus, her gorgeous home out in Hamptons section of Long Island certainly had us all wishing to be in her shoes. And her adorable love for her husband Jeffrey helped make her even more relatable.
It feels like it’s been a while since Garten has graced our television screens. Barefoot Contessa hasn’t produced new episodes since 2021, and anyone who still has cable knows that Food Network doesn’t show Garten’s TV shows as often as we’d like. However, Garten recently announced that she’s working on new episodes for the cooking network.

There’s nothing like a hearty meal in the depths of winter to lift the spirits amid what, for many, can be cold, gray days. Enter Ina Garten’s Winter Slaw. I served it to loved ones as part of a cozy meal at home. Rather than being a yummy, lightler addition to the rest of the food on the menu, it got decidedly negative reviews. Ahead, details on my experience making Garten’s Winter Slaw and why I may never make it again.

Garten, or the Barefoot Contessa, is known for creating simple dishes, and her Winter Slaw is no exception. Her official Barefoot Contessa website lists it as an “intermediate” dish with only three short steps.
It all sounded maybe deceptively easy when I first read through the instructions.

In Food Network’s newest bake-off, winners get to have their cake and eat it, too. Or perhaps more accurately, viewers will be able to eat it.
Hosted by “Cake Boss” Buddy Valastro, the newly ordered baking competition series will test not only contestants’ oven skills, but their business savvy as well. “Bake You Rich” lets four entrepreneurial pastry chefs face off for the chance to have one of their custom-made creations sold to the public on the Carlo’s Bakery website, per the popular cable channel.
The four-episode series features new obstacles that go beyond tasting good and looking pretty. Each episode involves three challenges, with the final two competitors going head-to-head to mass-produce their confections at Carlo’s, all the while dealing with machinery malfunctions and last-minute recipe changes. The rotating panel of judges includes Valastro, Chad Durkin, Erin McGinn, Vincent Tubito, and Valastro’s wife Lisa, who must...

“Late Night With Seth Meyers” took a day trip Wednesday night, which featured the drunk adventures of host Seth Meyers and his friend Ina Garten aka “The Barefoot Contessa.”
Meyers took the Food Network star and famous Hamptons resident to the Corner Bistro in Manhattan to spend an afternoon sipping cocktails. Ok, more than just sipping. They even concocted a few of their own — though Ina’s turned out much prettier (and probably tastier) than Seth’s.
When they weren’t drinking, which is really what they do throughout the majority of the nearly 10-minute segment, they were taste testing fast food sauces vs. Garten’s own gourmet recipes, challenging her ability to match bare feet to the celebrities they belong to, and doing “chef-pressions” of her famous co-workers like Gordon Ramsay and Emeril Lagasse.

Seth Meyers is living your wildest dreams: drinking with Ina Garten. The Late Night host took the Barefoot Contessa star out for an afternoon of day drinking in New York City, where they made Garten's drink recipes (without the proper tools) and forced each other to drink the other's concoctions. It was a revealing afternoon, Garten revealed fresh whiskey sours are her favorite cocktails (even if Meyers ruined it). Marvel at how Meyers couldn't find his mark and nail his lines after several cocktail before they get some food in them, including fries. But this wasn't just a normal plate of French fries, Garten had a test for Meyers: the Barefoot Contessa mustard and horseradish dip vs. the horsey dip...

Jennifer Garner has found her second calling.
It's no secret that the 45-year-old actress is a big fan of Barefoot Contessa star Ina Garten, and on Wednesday, she paid tribute to her with a cooking video of herself making Garten's recipe for honey white bread. Wearing a festive plaid shirt and an apron, Garner obviously had fun making her "pretend cooking show."
"I'm far from an expert, but if you want to make your family happy over and over again, this is one recipe that if you get it down, you can do anything with it, by Ina," she says, before hilariously kissing the cookbook. "Love you, Ina."

Anthony Bourdain has been known not to mince words when it comes to his opinions of fellow famous foodies (Rachael Ray, Adam Richman, Sandra Lee and Guy Fieri to name a few). However, there is one celebrity chef that, deep down, he respects. Her name is Ina Garten. In 2015, some may recall he shot down any future invitation to stay at the Barefoot Contessa's abode. Ina Garten has many favorite things (truffle butter, French apple tarts, and her husband Jeffrey, for starters)—but her own cooking show is not one of them.

“I’m glad other people like it, that’s all I can say,” she added. And like it, they certainly do. After 15 years on the Food Network, Garten credits her success to her tried-and-true recipes and unwavering support from Jeffrey.
