The bar where the characters hang out at is named "McUltra's", a not-so-subtle reference to MKUltra project, an ill-famed C.I.A. program from the 50's (known to be about mind-controlling).

One of the scene transition songs is similar to the one used on Gravity Falls, a show created by Alex Hirsch who is an executive producer on Inside Job. Shion Takeuchi, Inside Job's show creator also worked as a writer and producer on Gravity Falls

Myc is a mushroom-like alien. His name's spelling references mycology, which is the study of fungi, or mycelium, which is the vegetative part of a fungus.

At least four of the main characters have either had a recurring role or guest starred in The Office. Chris Diamantopoulos (Alpha Beta) played Brian, The Sound Guy. Christian Slater (Rand Ridley) was the spokesman for Sabre. Andy Daly (JR) played Benjamin Franklin. And Clark Duke (Brett Hand) played Clark.

Adam Scott and Lizzy Caplan previously worked together on Party Down and Bachelorette.
